Since all men from their birth employ sense prior to intellect, and are necessarily first conversant with sensible things: Some, proceeding no farther, pass through life considering these as first and last; and apprehending what is painful to be evil, what is pleasant to be good, they deem it sufficient to shun the one and pursue the other. Some pretending to greater reason than the rest, esteem this wisdom; like earth-bound birds, though they have wings are unable to fly. The secret souls of others would recall them from pleasure to worthier pursuits; but they cannot soar: they choose the lower way and strive in vain. Thirdly, there are those divine men whose eyes pierce through clouds and darkness to supernal vision, where they abide as in their own lawful country
-- Plotinus

| LAShTAL Lists: Archive Sales |
Posted by lashtal on in 5° : in 8° : dies : Anno IVxix |
I find myself in the unfortunate position of having to sell the bulk of my archives: partly in order to raise funds for the ongoing maintenance and hosting of LAShTAL.COM, partly in preparation for an impending move to a smaller home and partly to raise some funds. I say 'unfortunate', but, in truth, this is an opportunity for members to obtain some very interesting items at very reasonable prices.
All items - books, papers, ephemera, prints and so on - will be listed on LAShTAL.COM and are offered to members and visitors in the first instance. Anything that doesn't sell will ultimately be sold through eBay with reserves or starting prices not less than those listed here. All items are fully and accurately described and have been kept in archive conditions: smoke-free, pet-free and kept away from direct sunlight.
A note is necessary regarding the sale of items that were received by me for review or as donations received for the benefit of the site in other ways. All proceeds from them will be used exclusively for the benefit of the site.
The first LAShTAL List will be posted in the Forums in the next day or two. They will be supplemented by downloadable catalogues with additional details and photographs. Each list will feature a variety of subjects and prices. LAShTAL Lists will appear frequently and will, I'm certain, be of interest to browsers and buyers alike. |

| Coruscatio: The Magical Cactus Voice |
Posted by lashtal on in 14° : in 3° : dies : Anno IVxix |
Desert Star Temple (Publishing)
is pleased to announce the publication of
Coruscatio: The Magical Cactus Voice
by Frater Shiva
From remote antiquity to the present day people of all cultures and societies have experimented with "magick libations" involving psychoactive substances as part of their spiritual quest. While many of the materials are legally proscribed, other plants and potions used in these rites are legal and often easily available. This text explores the use of such libations – chemically, medically, psychologically and spiritually – with particular emphasis on their role in modern-day occultism.
The author, Frater Shiva, was a senior member of "Solar Lodge" (the 1960s US occult fraternity that drew many of its teachings from the works of Aleister Crowley) who has since moved on to explore other spiritual vistas. A licensed primary-care health practitioner with extensive first-hand experience in these matters, both as a participant and as a guide, Shiva stresses that the book is not a "user's manual" or "recommendation," but rather an investigation and exploration of the subject. This book has the technical/magical title "Sepher Nesek Magi Qaqtvs Qol vel Coruscatio, sub figurâ CMXXXIV: "The Book of Libation - The Magical Cactus Voice." It is dedicated to Aleister Crowley's "lost Liber," that is: "The Cactus - Liber CMXXXIV - 934," no copies of which are known to have survived.
The book is available in two forms:
Hardcover: Glossy printed boards (no dustjacket). 8vo. xxiv + 158 pp. B/W Ills. & Diagrams. Hardcover first edition limited to 150 copies. (40844) $45.00
Softcover: Glossy printed wrappers. 8vo. xxiv + 158 pp. B/W Ills. & Diagrams. First softcover edition limited to 418 copies. (40845) $20.00

Her best known theater and performance art piece is her Public Cervix Announcement, in which she invites the audience to "celebrate the female body" by viewing her cervix with a speculum and flashlight. She also performed The Legend of the Ancient Sacred Prostitute, in which she did a "sex magic" masturbation ritual on stage. She has toured one-woman shows internationally for 17 years, some of which were are titled Post Porn Modernist, Annie Sprinkle's Herstory of Porn, Hardcore from the Heart, and, currently, Exposed; Experiments in Love, Sex, Death and Art.
