The Imperial War Museum proudly presents: All Hallows Eve with Kenneth Anger

The Imperial War Museum is delighted to mark the arrival of All Hallows Eve with a presentation of films by Hollywood's legendary Kenneth Anger. Alongside the classic Scorpio Rising (1964), Anger will present two London premieres: a "poetic/ironic reverie" of the Hitler Youth titled Ich Will! (2008) and a study of the appeal of the military uniform, Uniform Attraction (2008).

Kenneth Anger achieved notoriety in the last century for his visionary films, Fireworks (1947) and Scorpio Rising (1964). In the 1950s he compiled graphic images of suicides and bullet-riddled corpses for his scandal catalogue Hollywood Babylon (1959) and famously assisted the unlawful patron saint of all film archives, Henri Langlois, in the Cinematheque Francaise.

In recent years, Anger has returned to filmmaking with a renewed interest in film archives. His screening at the Imperial War Museum on All Hallows' Eve is intended to celebrate his new work in a playful and uncanny context, invoking a puckish spirit that recalls the activities of the first film archivists, Langlois and Sweden's Bengt Idestam Almquist (aka 'Robin Hood'), who saved films as one saves souls.

And I note, entirely coincidentally, that I've published this News item with the sun in the first degree of Scorpio!

Am I remembering wrong or didn't Anger prophecy his death as taking place this All Hallows Eve? The announcement above is unclear but it reads like he might be attending - "...Anger will present two London premieres...". If he is, has he forgotten what he said about his death or is he planning a truly grand exit?

Love is the law, love under will.
