"Cyril Connolly made the most acidly perceptive comment about Crowley, for example, when he described him as the man who bridged the gap between Oscar Wilde and Adolf Hitler."

I finished this recently and really enjoyed it. Its fast pace and diversity of connections certainly reminded me of Wilson's 'Cosmic Trigger' series, so I think that's a very reasonable comparison. Recommended.

I just ordered this book, via Pay Pal. With international shipping and the conversion rate (USA) this cost over 30 USD. I'll comment back when I get it and read it.

This is an extremely imaginitive and interesting book with a broad and diverse sweep, making all sorts of connections between Crowley's work and that of others, which are at first sight very dissimilar but which shed a lot of light on both. A great achievement by Paul Weston, and I thoroughly recommend it.

Best wishes,

Michael.

I have to say, I was disappointed. The author obviously wanted his book to read like Cosmic Trigger or Morning of the Magicians, and show unexpected relationships among seemingly unrelated historical events, but I don't think he succeeded. Much of the book was just a flat account of events, and the connections Weston drew were often simply that two interesting people were doing interesting things at the same time.

Just received this book in the mail and noticed that it had not been handled properly when shipped. No Card board insert or stiffener was used during shipping and the binding is bent.A gauge is also taken out of the top of the binding. Not what you want to see when you pay 30USD for a book that cost 13 L.

As far as the contents of the book, one is struck immediately by the small paper inserted into the table of contents which contains corrections due to late changes in the editing process. The page numbers are wrong on a few occasions and a chapter or two is reversed in order. Rather than wait and print the book after the editing was completed they chose to simply print the book "as is". Slip in an insert with some corrections and ship it!

I went ahead and read the chapter entitled " Extraterrestrial Gnossis" and was pleasantly surprised that the book was very well written and NOT a rehash of the same material. The material is thoughtful, lucid, and at times quite funny. The quality of the authors work is well done, wish I could say the same for the publishers...

I have replied directly to SSS re damage in transit as this is first feedback of its kind I have had after copies being shipped worldwide.
Errata slip an unfortunate effect of working to a difficult deadline and conforms to Crowley typo legend. Would like to think this is balanced out by the rather striking cover and the extent to which reading enjoyment might be compromised is minimal.

Oh, so glad to see this book on here! I LOVED it!!! Paul Weston is a GREAT writer, and there were a whole bunch of things in this book that I hadn't come across before. I think he has a pretty unique and entertaining perspective, too. Doesn't take himself or anything too seriously. A true Agnostic.

I loved the comparison to RAW, because this book reminds me of Cosmic Trigger too!

I have had 3 copies arrive Stateside from the UK all in great condition.

I think whether you pay $13 or $30, you get a good deal. I know that ordering direct from the author supports 'one of us', and that's cool too. Still a great deal at $30. I have paid more for books before now that weren't nearly so good.
