I think it's basically magic. There is such a thing as magic, and the Beatles were magic. It depends on what you believe life is. Life is an energy field, a bunch of molecules. And these particular molecules formed to make these four guys, who then formed into this band called the Beatles and did all that work. I have to think that was something metaphysical. Something alchemic. Something that must be thought of as magic--with a "k."

Thanks to Weiser Antiquarian...

Weiser Antiquarian Books are pleased to announce that we now have, In Stock & Available for Immediate Delivery, the long-awaited New Translation of one of the most important books in the Western Magical Tradition:

The Book of Abramelin

[The Sacred Magic of Abra-Melin the Mage]

At the special price of US $39.50 (approx. GBP £20.20 / Euros 30.10) - (recommended retail price is US $45.00).

Most LAShTAL.COM readers will already be aware of the new edition of this book, as rumors about its imminent publication have been circulating for some time.

It is a completely new translation of the book widely known as The Book Of The Sacred Magic Of Abra-Melin The Mage, which includes a previously unpublished fourth part. The work was of course first translated into English by S. L. MacGregor Mathers of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, over a hundred years ago. It soon gained a reputation as one of the few genuine - and extremely powerful - works of ritual magick and was held in high regard by many, including of course Aleister Crowley. This new translation is drawn from careful comparisons of several previously unknown manuscript versions of the work, and is significantly improved, both in substance and readability, from the Mathers text, and contains much new material. It also has a new Introduction by well known Thelemic author Lon Milo DuQuette.

To quote the publishers:

"For over a century the Abramelin has served as an important part of every serious magicians's library, for it presents a program of self-purification and initiation for achieving The Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel. What most magicians and historians did not realize was that the French manuscript Mathers translated was an incomplete and inaccurate rendition of the original German manuscripts. ..... Those familiar with Mathers's edition will note some rather startling differences: an additional book of practical spells that was left out of the French translation, important distinctions in the Abramelin operation, and magical squares that were either incomplete or transposed incorrectly in the French manuscript."

The details are as follows:

Abraham Von Worms, Compiled and Edited by Georg Dehn, Translated by Steven Guth, Forward by Lon Milo DuQuette. The Book of Abramelin. Lake Worth, Florida: Ibis Press, 2006. First Edition Thus. Hardcover, 8vo, xxxii + 268 (+iv) pp. Red cloth with silver gilt titles, etc. to spine and front cover. Illustrations, diagrams, magic squares etc. NEW BOOK. Fine copy in Fine dustjacket.
