OTO.

Is that the secret order of knight warrior monks?
thiebes - Dec 15, 2006 - 04:54 PM
Post subject:
I'm sure you know that the existence of the Order has never been a secret. Throughout the history of the Order, there have been books and other items sold to the public bearing the name of OTO as well as that of AA. But please, by all means, post as many sarcastic comments as you like! I'm happy to respond as needed.

In the meantime we at Sekhet-Maat Lodge appreciate the support of everyone who is buying our products. We use the funds to pay for our beautiful temple, where we host classes, Thelemic holiday celebrations, workshops, initiatory rites, and weekly performances of the Gnostic Mass since 1999 ev.

Post subject:
What are these old relics that were sold to the public bearing the name of the OTO? Swords? Horses? Banners? Armour? Quills? Parchment?

I think you are talking about books written by one of the OHOs?
thiebes - Dec 15, 2006 - 05:25 PM
Post subject:
Mainly books as far as I know. Of course, back then, much of the money went into the private purse of Aleister Crowley! Not so today. We're raising funds to help defray the cost of providing a center of Thelemic research and practice. Have you heard about our archive of microfilm? We have a unique collection including much of the Warburg, OTO and Sloane archives of documents by Crowley, Ashmole, Dee and more. Well over 30,000 images of pages from manuscripts and typescripts are available in our library should you wish to pay a visit.

Also our Lodge Treasurer says that she would be happy to sell you a pen that she used to write in her magickal diary for only 200 USD! Let me know if you are interested and I will give her your contact info.

Just wanted to endorse the Sekhet-Maat Lodge online shop from which I've bought a number of high quality items in the past (I am not a lodge member & I don't live in the USA).
Can't really understand any objection to it and as thiebes points out they are raising money to further the promulgation of Thelema.

Greetings.
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Personnaly I think it is great to see Sekhet-Maat Lodge advertising here, it's good for the Lodge and for the site. Interesting articles in your store, but I think it would be better to advertise material from Gifts & Accessories instead of shirts (my opinion).
Unfotunately my financial status isn't the better so it will be hard for me to order anything.

Love is the law, love under will.
Best regards.

Thiebes checked with me before posting his CafePress notice on this thread: that was a courtesy that few have extended this site and deserves credit as a demonstration of respect to other members.

I know from personal experience just how difficult it can be to generate even small amounts for fund-raising: perhaps unsurprisingly, ours is not a subject that many feel like contributing to.

Thiebes has further demonstrated a service to Thelema that is exemplary.

Arcturus, thanks very much for your support. I am so glad to hear that you have been satisfied with previous purchases!

Wolf, yes I can definitely see where you are coming from regarding the gifts & accessories. Personally my favorite items are the Liber OZ posters and the tile boxes (pictured below) which are also available on the site. Really well made items! However the main thing I wanted to highlight here was the fact that our provider can now print on dark fabrics, which is something that they have not been able to do until this year, and a lot of people have been requesting it.

Paul, thanks again for your ongoing support and encouragement.

We at the Lodge are all very appreciative of your contribution. It will be used to improve the exterior paint, once the rain lets up. You can see a mock-up of what we plan for it at the bottom of this page: http://sekhetmaat.com/wiki/Exterior -- I'd also suggest that browsing the site you can find a lot of other information about what we do.

I love it! I need one of those stainless steel travel mugs, though, for work. And I'd order a bunch of them. Because I leave them there and the staff 'cleans them up' - never to be heard from again.

The shirts are nice and will accentuate my massive-ripped-cut-sexxxy-thelemic physique (not really)

Congrats on making some $$$$ (bank)!

Why was this thread locked? You raised no objection earlier in the thread when daopig used the word "cunt" as a term of abuse. And yet when someone makes a perfectly valid and non-abusive point about the shape of the O.T.O. lamen (a shape which is hardly accidental, after all) you lock the thread.

Why?
magispiegel - Oct 02, 2007 - 12:16 AM
Post subject:
Yes Michael,

It is quite obvious that the lamen does resemble the shape of the labium minus....shaped like the vesica pescis, or the O.T.O. lamen for sure. It is quite 'natural' that this shape is used as a symbol. It can mean many things, like the birth or outpourings of cosmic consciousness from the AIN, 61, void, or the influxes of praeter human intelligence (AIWAZ, LAM) piercing through the aperture of basic minds. The O.T.O. lamen symbolically intimates the mechanics of this current, hence the use of the secret sexual magickal workings of the order.

Obviously, amongst initiates, this is not secret. We live on the physical plane, hence, mankind requires 'symbols' to perceive the transcendental...

Keep up THE GREAT WORK

I was wondering that too Michael. I respect Paul a great deal and I know how hard he works to maintain this site, so I would never presume to second guess, but personally I didn't mind him calling the lamen a cunt -- it only gave me more opportunities to talk about Sekhet-Maat Lodge and our offerings. Which, by the way, can I interest you in a pen? No ordinary writing instrument, this is the one used by an actual treasurer in a Caliphate OTO body! You won't find these on ebay. Wink

Anyway, when we have new designs to sell, I had planned to post them as responses in that thread per Paul's instruction. I guess this means next time we have a new design, I will start a new thread.

After doing an extensive google search, i have found an untapped market. Why doesnt the Caliphate start producing tasteful OTO Lamen badges and pin lapels for Thelemites everywhere? If so it would be one of the few items that would sell like hot cakes to Thelemites across the planet. (Of course they would have to accept that non Caliphate members would were them has well. Not a bad thing)

I don't think mines gay at all, red with a gold hexagram. I`d say its pretty commanding actually, and the symbol I feel carries a powerful presence by itself. Whenever worn people always ask what it is, and its often confused with a pentagram.

I will be attending a christening next week and am greatly looking forward to flashing it at the vicar. I shall be working it with a black tux, faded jeans and some fab shoes Wink

Post subject: Oil of Abramelin
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Sekhet-Maat Lodge now has a brand new batch of Holy Oil available and we are very excited about it! Three Magi: a Priest, a Priestess, and a Member of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica used the Abramelin Mixing Ritual to prepare this Holy Oil.

On the Holy Oil, Aeister Crowley writes:

---
"The Holy Oil is the Aspiration of the Magician; it is that which consecrates him to the performance of the Great Work; and such is its efficacy that it also consecrates all the furniture of the Temple and the instruments thereof. It is also the grace or chrism; for this aspiration is not ambition; it is a quality bestowed from above. For this reason the Magician will anoint first the top of his head before proceeding to consecrate the lower centres in their turn."
---
"This oil is of a pure golden colour; and when placed upon the skin it should burn and thrill through the body with an intensity as of fire. It is the pure light translated into terms of desire. It is not the Will of the Magician, the desire of the lower to reach the higher; but it is that spark of the higher in the Magician which wishes to unite the lower with itself."
---
"Unless therefore the Magician be first anointed with this oil, all his work will be wasted and evil."
---
"This oil is compounded of four substances. The basis of all is the oil of olive. The olive is, traditionally, the gift of Minerva, the Wisdom of God, the logos. In this are dissolved three other oils; oil of myrrh, oil of cinnamon, oil of galangal. The Myrrh is attributed to Binah, the Great Mother, who is both the understanding of the Magician and that sorrow and compassion which results from the contemplation of the Universe. The Cinnamon represents Tiphareth, the Sun-the Son, in whom Glory and Suffering are identical. The Galangal represents both Kether and Malkuth, the First and the Last, the One and the Many, since in this Oil they are One."
---

—Quotations from Aleister Crowley, Liber ABA

Our Oil of Abramelin is made from pure essential oils of the highest quality, following the formula given by Crowley:

* 8 parts Cinnamon essential oil
* 4 parts Myrrh essential oil
* 2 parts Galangal essential oil
* 7 parts Olive oil

Our Abramelin Oil is made from the finest pure distilled essential oils, not the poor quality cheap stuff you can find elsewhere, and not "absolute oils" that are made using solvents like hexane.
