I would like to buy one as well, but the website is not consumer-friendly: I am still trying to figure out how to place an order. They really need a "Buy Now" button followed by a field for credit card info and a shipping address. It shouldn't be this difficult to spend money...

I feel the same way as you do fanadil, I went so far as to email the folks, but they emailed me back with a complicated series of additions to the initial price which sort of puts you off
and the addition of it being through paypal and in Euros , more or less sort of finished it off for me.

I agree! This is not the first time for this offer on lashtal.com. When it appeared a few weeks ago, I went to the Stele website and found black letters on a dark red background, and it was very hard to read. I PM'd Thoth about this, and the god of wisdom sent back a message that said it was fine at his end and that I should increase the brightness on my monitor. Well, it's still hard to read, and every other website I visit doesn't need the brightness increased.
The postings for this product are reminiscent of hucksterism ("New Super offer!" and "Cheap!" in big bold type). In my opinion, a sense of subtlety, or at least a toning-down of the spam-like, advertising rhetoric, would be welcome and a bit more inviting.
Finally, what ever happened to that ancient practice of making one's own magickal implements? Perdurabo indicated that one could have the entire arsenal made up, but that this would be contrary to the spirit of Magick (this is not an exact quote).

May I just take this opportunity to remind Forum readers of the "Sticky" post that appears ahead of all others on this part of the Forums: http://www.lashtal.com/nuke/PNphpBB2-vi ... -186.phtml
Basically, I say: I am not able to review or vet advertisers or to check that they are bona fide. Readers are strongly recommended to take their own precautions before entering into any agreement or any transaction on the internet.
Other suppliers of stelae exist and, although this website does not accept advertising, I can heartily recommend those produced by username Layla.

You know, I just checked the website myself, and I must say that it seems rather forward of Thoth to place Lashtal's banner on the homepage of the site, saying it's "recommended" by Lashtal purely, it seems, based on the fact that Thoth posted here advertising his Stelae- when based on your posting, Paul, you haven't recommended his products at all. This alone is more than a bit of a turn off to me...unless you gave him the go ahead to post the Lashtal banner to his site and say that his products are endorsed by Lashtal? Considering your sticky post, and the one you just posted here on this thread, that hardly seems as though it would be the case.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm hoping that Thoth will respond to the effect that he recommends LAShTAL.COM, not that I recommend his stelae.
Why? Because I own one by him and I own one by Layla. Without commenting on Thoth's, I would reiterate that the only stelae that I recommend are those created by Layla.
Hopefully that's clear enough...

Well, even if he does say as much, I'd still say the most tactful thing he could do would be to take the banner down altogether, seeing as how it can still leave people with the impression that his work is recommended by this site. He may say he was purely recommending this site, but what he says here on the boards, and what he meant when he put the banner up may be two different things. Perhaps an alternative, better point of course would be for him to change it on his website so that he refers to Lashtal as a "recommended site." If that is what he meant anyway, then changing it on his site to reflect this would be the best point of action to take...

Looks like the banner's gone now: we're no longer recommended.
This thread is now locked.

Sorry that I didn't reply ealier, I didn't checked this topic for a long time.
Ok, as for "not consumer-friendly website". Please understand, this website is made by myself, and it is quite simple. I don't know how to add such options as "buy now buttons" that will lead you through whole order. But don't get discouraged, I will tell you all what you want to know when you will contact me through email on website: stela666@o2.pl
The same as for currency, if you don't know how much USD is for Stele, please contact me via email. You can pay in USD or in any other currency as you like. You need just to contact me and ask how much it will be in this currency.
As for Nataraj418 objections. No one else ever complain to me that he/she can't read the text on the website. I saw it on few other computers, and it was still readable. So, my advice was simple. As for words ""New Super offer!" and "Cheap!" and their look reason is simple, they have to be visible so visitor might not miss it. Don't look for any "reminiscent of hucksterism" please. And as for making one's own magickal implements, I agree, but I am for those who don't have the abilities.
As for Paul "bona fide" warning. I don't know if he had me on mind or all that kind "offers". But what I want you to know, all my customers GET their Steles, and there was never any problems with orders. None of my customers cannot say that I delay sending them their Steles. No one ever complain on this. I am sure Paul also get his Stele very quick.
And finally, the lahstal.com banner matter. You get me wrong. "Recommended" wasn't mean that lashtal.com recommend mine website or Steles. It mean that we recommend lashtal.com. I don't know why you all understand it differend. Maybe my english is not good enought and I was wrongly understanded. But my intentions were good. But as Poul wanted, I removed the banner.
One more thing. Now we sale printed Steles. They may not look so much pretty as hand painted, but they are still made on stucco and are still half cheaper than those hand painted, and look nice.
I didn't find anyone else who makes stucco Steles. And most Steles made by others "hand made" are much more expensive than mine. And they are still only on wooden only boards.
We could still sell those hand painted Steles, on wooden stucco board, but it takes much more time to make one, and it makes it much more expensive, so not everyone can buy one. So I decided to give you a oportunity to get cheaper Steles (so anyone might buy it) and still keep it good look, and original stucco made.
So remember, if you have any questions about mine Steles, please contact me on: stela666@o2.pl , I'll anwser all your questions.

93,
for those who might be interested in buying our Steles in special offer (60 euro) , there are only three Steles left to sale. There will be no more production of that kind Steles.

Oh well.
So does that mean you won't be spamming members by sending adverts for your steles as private messages?

To be fair, decent steles have been a rarity for decades. What's Thoth supposed to do, give them away? And offering such rarities to Thelemites via Lashtal private messaging is hardly spamming in the normal sense, IMHO anyway,

In Thoth's defense i ordered a stele not 3 months ago. AT the price i personally thought it was better to have one than not at all for my temple so following a couple of email to Thoth it was quickly established the the cost etc.
The stele arrived in less than a week from Poland to Ireland.
Granted it may not have the individuality of a hand painted stele but none the less it is impressive at £47.36. (by current exchange rates).
Many thanks for providing this service Thoth.

93 Thoth,
Just curious, why have you discontinued production of the less expensive 'print process' version of the Stele?

That's as maybe, sethur666, but the rules for participation on this site (the "Guidelines") specifically state: "Members WILL NOT use the Private Messaging system for advertising purposes. Failure to comply with this instruction will in future always result in the termination of accounts."

ptoner: thank you for your kind words, I hope more people would be like this.
Camlion: I discontinued because most of people prefer to spend their money on beer in pub and complain that they got one message on their mailbox with offer, than to buy that kind of "useless magickal tool"
oneiros, lashtal: I thought it was already explained and consider done, I did sent some PM to few people (but only one to one person) with my offer. But when Paul told me that this is not allowed, I stoped. I don't understand people why you do such a big problem of it, I do not send you avon products offers, or christmas presents offers, but offer of something that might be useful for thelemites!
oneiros: sorry that I hurt you so much with that one mail...

So are you not selling the Stele at all, or just not the less expensive one?

Now I have two more to sell those for 60 eu, I don't have no others to sell for now. Maybe I'll accept orders for hand painted, but it depends how much time I'll have.
Maybe if far future
I'll again make few cheaper ones.
All informations you'll find at my website and propably here
Thank you for your interest.
