Magick - a man's will przm28 - May 08, 2008 - 07:08 AM Post subject: a man's willhttp://www.laffoleyarchive.com/multimed ... ideos.htmlBaphomet111 - May 09, 2008 - 08:29 AM Post subject: RE: a man
Laffoley's work is amazing. the pieces function as a magickal link to other ends of consciousness. the great thing is, since it is an artwork, it is able to be interpreted as such. if it were a book, it would be completely outlined. by working in the medium of color, line, symbol, and texture, an ambiguity toward meaning occurs and a direct resonance within the subconscious occurs. to make a work of art that has such depth in both metaphysical physiology (memory, circuits, subconscious) obviously signals that a benchmark in ideas has been met and the expression of future worlds is present.
thanks for posting that, Laffoley is one of my favorite artists. Hopefully he'll get the exposure he deserves.AnkhGoddess - May 10, 2008 - 10:56 PM Post subject: Re: RE: a man
I truly hope so too, Baphomet....
I was given the honor of getting to hear Mr. Laffoley speak twice, once at the DisInfo Con held many years ago in New York City, back when I was first starting out on my magickal path, and again, more recently, at Esozone here in Portland. You really hit the nail on the head when you said that his art is "the expression of future worlds." The first time I heard him speak, I was utterly unaware of the true depth of what I was hearing as he spoke about his paintings, but walked away with the distinct understanding that I was walking away from having heard a man that created possibilities that were truly too far ahead of our time. Hearing him speak a second time only confirmed that for me. He truly is an "occult Einstein" of sorts...a man who is able to blend occult truths with scientific ones into a seemless blend to create possibilities that are truly awe-inspiring.
What I realized from hearing him speak about them is that not only is he painting expressions of future worlds...he's painting worlds and concepts that he truly feels are possible for us to realize here and now, in the present. Unfortunately, however, I'm not sure that we're ready to comprehend all that he is saying, much less make those worlds a reality....
Whenever I contemplate his utter genius, I find myself at times wishing that he had been born just a little later, at a time when the world was truly ready to make the worlds he dreamed of a reality. Our planet, I know, would surely be the better for it.przm28 - May 11, 2008 - 01:02 AM Post subject:
thanks baphomet111 and ankhgoddess
"wishing that he had been born just a little later"
I had the same feeling. He not only has actualized his will, but shows what treasures that can be brought to this plane, how simple life can be enriched with ideas, pushing creation. Paul has the makings of someone that will be looked back upon in future time. Also his not shying away from sharing his expriences with trafficking with the "outside" Im really happy that Paul work is becoming more aware of to the collective. Need more of these sources here in the current.AnkhGoddess - May 11, 2008 - 01:32 AM Post subject:
We really do....
His health, sadly, wasn't the greatest when I saw him at the recent Esozone...he had to be helped up onto the stage, and had recently undergone some rather major heart surgery....he said at the beginning that he wasn't sure if he'd be around to make it through the hours long lecture he was about to give (all told, it lasted between 3-4 hours, at least!) and yet he still made it through the entirety of the lecture without fail....the power of one man's Will indeed...
