Hi, can anyone tell a few interesting words about Susan Roberts, author of the book "The Magician of The Golden Dawn", and maybe of the book itself. GreetingsN.C.Bishop-Culpeper - Aug 19, 2008 - 08:41 AM Post subject: RE: susan roberts
Hi, SUSAN ROBERTS: Author, journalist and New York public relations consultant, has been reporting for newspapers since the age of 11 when she became correspondent for her school with the New Orleans Tribune. A confirmed Manhattanite and mother of two grown daughters, she lives in Greenwich Village with husband William Stockholm. [ From book review of 1971 ]
Her book 'The Magician of the Golden Dawn' was published in 1978 & is not uncommon, there are a dozen copies on ABE for under a tenner.
Roberts also wrote, 'The Yogi Cookbook' 1968. & 'Witches U. S. A.' in 1971
'Witches U. S. A.' was the result of two years research which convinced Roberts that all over America thousands were worshiping strange gods and practising magic.
Israel Regardie had this to say on the book; "Few books on witchcraft are worth the paper they are printed on. Susan Roberts' book is the sole exception being both informative and well-written. An interesting account of visits with professed witches, it is thoroughly readable."

93!
I thought it was a fun read, since it is written in a novel-like story-stelling style and not like a "regular" biography. Content-wise it recounts all that was available at the time of writing, more or less the Symonds material, but with a very personal approach. It is probably a bit outdated by now, but it is entertaining.
