Doesn't really matter to me all that much. I was wondering if I just sit here and click on them then use the back button, and do it again, and so on.....is that enough of a visit to get you paid?

| Lol. I second that. If it'll help keep Lashtal running who gives a yod? |

Making a few clicks in some adds may help to keep and improve Lashtal's site.
Being limited to non registered members doesn't raise any problems with members that may not like this option (there is always the option to do automatic login in each visit)
So... I think the adds could be bigger to catch more viewers, there should be a log off button for registered members to watch and click on some adds to raise Lashtal account.
In my own personal opinion porno adds are more fun to look at than Google AdSense and I think they are also paying better... but some members may not like this idea

In my (faux-Trotskyist) youth I was viruntly anti-advertising as epitomising the seductive glamours of wicked capitalism, but don't feel that way any more. There are some sites I visit where the pop-up boxes become really obtrusive. In an ideal world I'd rather Lashtal had an independent financial means and didn't carry adverts, whether subtle or overt. However, what's more important is that Lashtal should secure some regular funding to meet the costs of running the site. Donations are fine but will never be a regular source of financing, and regular is what is needed to pay the hosting costs, set aside money for redevelopment, etc.
So I'm all in favour, although unlike wolf354 I'd rather not see tits and bums all over the place.

I'd rather not see tits and bums either. The only other form of advertising I really object to is that of the pop-up variety. For these two reasons I chose the 'subtle' option.
I'm not sure how the advertising works but I get the idea from above posts that LAShTAL will earn money if I click on the advertising link. If this is so, and if you go with the advertising, you'll have to make an announcement and let us know. I've never been able to make contributions on a regular basis, as I genuinely wish I could, so I'll be very happy with having the option of clicking a few banners to help you out. I think it's a great idea!
The important thing is that LAShTAL continues and is not compromised. I think we are all smart enough to seperate the content of advertising from the content of the website, so I see no problem there. |

Just a small clarification...
Bums and tits wouldn't be all over Lashtal... however they would be on the linking adresses. I would enjoy more to see BDSM links than Crowley's musical gear... and my "contribution" to Lashtal would be bigger. This is only a sugestion without much hope of ever seeing it in practice (and it doesn't really matter).
Pop up's and images are the administrators choice, not a must in web advertisement. And there is always the choice of auto-login for those who don't want to see the ads (... sorry to repeat myself).
The Equinox carried a few ads, I only wonder if they where chosen or it was what the publishers could get...

You should have it a bit more prominently so that it is easier to click on it I think |

Clickable ad links are okay to live with. Other sites have them and they aren't in the way or popping up right in front of what you are reading. I would say yes to these, especially as a source of funding for the site.
I am not a prude by any means, but as a woman, if I see T&A ads, I'm out of here.

Slight change to the trial: the AdSense block now appears for all visitors to the site, whether logged-in or not.
I'm expecting to be able to retire on the proceeds any day now!

| I for one will be sure to click the ad every day. (I assume only one click per IP counts per day) |

For the future site's design I suggest to put the ads inside a box equal to the boxes already existent (Main Menu, From the Galleries, From the Bibliography... plus Google Ads or something similar).
Of course that I don't have the slightest idea about the future look.

To me it seems that the ads are already equal to those boxes excepting the fact that they're so down on the page that most people won't ever see them. I kind of liked the idea of hiding ads from unlogged people. If the current experimentation won't work, perhaps more visible ads for unlogged visitors + hidden ads for logged visitors would work.
I have a feeling that a typical visitor won't even see any ads with the current configuration, unless they're particularly looking for the ads. |

I can't see these adverts anywhere, no matter how far down the page I view. Can anyone tell me please where I should be looking?
