So, as we welcome our five-thousandth member, I thought it might be an appropriate time to take stock of what we've achieved on LAShTAL.COM, home of the Aleister Crowley Society and the world's most popular and influential Thelemic website...
The site has received more than 18 million visits since September 2003. It incorporates a database of more than a thousand News items extending over more than a decade; 27,000 Forum posts in 2,600 threads; hundreds of media article reprints; a collaborative online bibliography containing text and 1,400 images relating to almost 700 Thelemic books, including the majority of Crowley's first editions; Galleries containing 1,500 freely downloadable rare photographs, portraits and other images; more than one hundred active Links to other online resources; dozens of specially commissioned reviews of creative works by and about Crowley and Thelema; and not forgetting the remarkably popular Thelemic Timeserver that appears on literally hundreds of other sites.
Add to this a membership of 5,000 that includes just about all the key players in modern Crowley research, leading lights in all major Thelemic organisations, and many household names in numerous fields, including novelists, artists, politicians, rock gods, journalists, jazz and opera performers, film makers and actors.
With up to 30,000 hits a day and frequent contact with the webmaster from some of the most important mainstream media outlets, LAShTAL.COM continues to inform and influence in equal measure. Announcements are made through the site by all the important Thelemic publishers and booksellers.
And the site remains committed to its founding principle: It is "a non-commercial and non-partisan website devoted to the legacy of Aleister Crowley and to the impact of Crowley and Thelema on media, news and culture."

And I see now that we're rapidly approaching 20 million site visits since September 2003!
Who'd have believed it?
My thanks once again to Ian Rons for enhancing the site when he was Technical Admin to ensure that its creaking Postnuke skeleton was made sufficiently supple to provide the resilience to support this number of hits... |
