Regular visitors will know that I'm quite fond of this absurdist romp with its barnstorming turn by Simon Callow.
And for those that doubt the seriousness of intent behind director Julian Doyle's production, here's a photo of him with ... a certain wand that might be familiar. Photographed at... No, not yet... |

| Thank you for posting these pics Paul. I'm very interested in seeing this film, but slightly concerned that it's gonna be more along the lines of sensationalism rather than informative by judging the trailer. I hope I'm wrong. |

| Oh no, you're not wrong! It is a comedic romp, a pastiche, a piece of slapstick: a confection. And it's great fun! But "informative"? Not really... I think it's more likely to function as a portal: people will see Mr Callow's outrageous - and brilliant - performance and start searching the web for information on Crowley, hopefully reading the books and, who knows, maybe even starting the Work. |

Absolutely! "who knows, maybe even starting the Work." unquote lashtal.
Purists might argue against this, but in reality it's an injection or impetus if you like for more interest in our friend Al. |

Thanks Paul. Some very good and valid points. For whatever reason I wasn't considering the possibly of all the positives that can come from this film. You are very correct that this film can expose more people to take a look, and hopefully a serious study of AC's life and Work. I'm very excited to see it. |

Lucy Cudden who plays one of the lead roles as the red headed journalist in Chemical Wedding can currently be seen as 'Gamer Girl' in the latest comedy series from the BBC called 'The Wrong Door' http://www.bbc.co.uk/wrongdoor/
Once you enter the site, click on the 'characters' link where you can see clips from the series... |

| I just checked Amazon.com USA for any release info and found nothing for the DVD, but an import CD Soundtrack and a paperback book, which isn't available yet. Any info on the book? Sorry in advance if this has been discussed before. I haven't seen mention of it. |

Play.com gave the soundtrack away free with the DVD. It's a Region 2 DVD, by the way. The book's been available for ages in the UK (I bought mine at the movie's world premiere) and can be bought from Amazon.co.uk: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chemical-Weddin ... amp;sr=8-3 |

Initial reactions...
Watching the movie again, I'm happy with the tone and content of my original review which, I freely admit, is more favourable than most.
It's described on the DVD as an "Extended Version", although there's nothing in the movie here that I don't recall seeing in the worldwide premiere.
The "Deleted Scenes" are interesting and add value.
The "Making Of" featurette is, to be frank, rather feeble and adds nothing.
The commentary by Bruce Dickinson and Julian Doyle is very informative and amusing. Sure, most of the Crowley anecdotes are confused but they demonstrate a seriousness of purpose that I considered evident in the movie.
Simon Callow remains simply astonishing! |

| I also saw the trailer of the movie a little while ago and could'nt be so happy with it, I ofcourse know very well that the movie is a pastiche, a kind of slapstick but from what I saw I could'nt be so happy, it might be that I'm wrong, but to me the movie seems to be a little bit too childisch. And I just don't like it. Probably I might be too much an admirer of Crowley and maybe in a wrong kind of way I just don't know, but I just am not pleased with it, Simon Callow probably is a good kind of an actor, I think so, but the movie just don't seem to be anything to my liking. It is ofcourse hoped for that the movie might function as a portal initiating some of the general members of the public to a more unbiased look at Crowley, and that some might start to read his writings and even start the G W. |

Alysa: please tell me you've not based the whole of that post on a viewing of an advertisement for the movie? |

| I saw more items now in relation to the movie and I think these items seem to be a little bit more positive to the movie, yeah, I think the movie certainly have its merits, I'm certainly a little bit more positive about the movie than I was first, still have some doubts about the movie. |
