At last I found the lost chapters in the Book of Pleasure including:

1. Symbolism
2. Automatic Drawing as means to art
3. Note on sacred letters

It seems that many thought the existence of these chapters as a myth. But it came true!

Really?!
I remember once I asked Robert Ansell about this and he said "It is doubtful the missing chapters of The Book of Pleasure were ever written."

Of course there are still two chapters that is mentioned in Book of Pleasure footnotes which I have never found:

1. Self-attraction
2. Day and night dreaming for pleasure

Does your copy contain them?

Symbolism is page 52, Automatic Drawing As Means To Art is page 55, and Note on Sacred Letters isn't a chapter but is the last part of Automatic Drawing AMTA. Self-attraction and Day and Night Dreaming I havent heard of. There's a fairly long list of chapters that were missed out in the footnote to the introduction, but the 2 you mention aren't part of that list.

I should add that those page numbers are from the Sut Anubis "Facsimile of first edition" from 1987.The numbering is different to those in your pdf. I wish there was an edit function.....

I can shed light on this topic.
The long list of missing chapters at the end of the introduction, together with the chapters on "Self-attraction" and "Night-and Day-Dreaming for Pleasure" were "omitted" by Spare, and with the exception of "Definitions", appear never to have been written (pastiches could be fun for someone, though!) Wink
The chapters on Symbolism, Automatic Drawing and the Note on Sacred Letters, however, are present in the published version and fac-similes of it, but for some unaccountable reason, are missing from some online versions. Confusingly, the transcribers of the online version provide a note, saying that these chapters are omitted... but of course it looks like just the same kind of note that Spare provides about his own omissions!
I trust it is all now quite clear.

Thanks for the clarification. Since I have, I think, at least three versions of it in published form I hadn't looked at any online versions so didn't notice any discrepancies.
Interesting looking transliteration of the book you have coming out.

Hi Chris,

Like you, I believe that there are some writings associated to Spare which are pastiches. But I can't understand why you point out to the chapter "Definitions". As far as I have analyzed the text, there is no inconsistency between this chapter and the rest of neither Book of Pleasure nor Focus of Life. Can you recite an example?

Hi Sepand, Chris will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure; but I don't think he was saying that "Definitions" is a pastiche, just that the other , unpublished titles would be easy for someone else to use to write pastiches in Spare's rather flowery style.

cheers

About the chapters I mentioned at my first post, there is one weird thing about the chapter "Symbolism". In this chapter Spare has written on a subject specially dedicated to "Egyptians tradition". And it was very surprising to me. Because Spare has a very special approach for "never" mentioning any paradigm or ideas of a specific school of magic in his texts. e.g. among Book of Pleasure, Focus of Life and Anathema of Zos you will never find any at least direct reference to specific paradigms except to his own teachings; of course in Earth Inferno there exist references to Khayyam and Dante but not in his latter writings.

Beside this in the little chapter "Note on Sacred Letters" there is a sentence which associates the number of sacred letters to the number 22. And also "By knowledge of the first letter, one is familiar with the whole alphabet" by which the curiosity arises and one may immediately asks "why 22 and why Spare's first letter of sacred alphabet should necessarily have the qualities of Aleph".

You know... However that this two chapters' style seem consistent with the rest of Book of Pleasure, they are the only places that Spare has proposed questionable materials...

Has anyone ever announced that Spare's hand writings may have survived to this day? I think that there should exist some important yet unpublished materials by Spare...

BlueKephra is correct about my intentions. "Definitions" is listed as an omitted chapter at the end of the Introduction, but actually appears, apparently added at a late stage in production at the beginning of the book, which seems to have been thrown together in rather a hurry.
I suggested that pastiches might be rather fun for someone because I want to pre-empt the possibility of someone doing this and trying to pass them off as "rediscovered" lost chapters, a la Hitler Diaries! Rolling Eyes
It nevertheless would be a fun academic exercise. I would begin by looking at clues about the same themes in Spare's later works, and perhaps also at Eliphas Levi, from whom some of the themes seem to have been taken.
