Here's a link to a lot of Lovecraft's stories, some Algernon Blackwood, Levi, and even some Solomanic grimores. Just click on the "card catalogue" for the first letter of the last name of the author. "L" for Lovecraft.

93 all!
I have a favor to ask....if someone like kidneyhawk or others who have all of the "Typhonian Trilogies" would post for me for "research and magickal purposes" would post like a chart or something of KG's quaballistic correspondances of the Lovecraftian entites (assuming that would not violate any copyright laws...if it does PM me) Working with The Mythos greatly interests me and seeing as how I don't know anyone to give me a reference so I could join the E.O.D...I guess I have to go solo. Thanks in advance.

It seems to me, from Outer Gateways that Grant uses the following:
3 - Binah-Saturn, the Great Deep, abode of Cthulhu
6 - Tiphareth-Sol/Fire, Yog-Sothoth
8 - Hod/Mercury, Air, Hastur
5 - Geburah/Mars - Shub-Niggurath "as the type of Kali-goat as distinct from the Panic goat of Atu XV."
With the exception of the final attribution the scheme is very similar to the elemental attribtutions in the Skoob Necronomicon. IIRC Grant also seems to indicate that Cthulhu represents the depths and Yog-Sothoth the outer-limits, or heights.
It's also interesting that Grant has both Hay/Turner and the Schlangekraft 'Necronomicons' in his bibliography, attributed to Abdul Alhazred. Both editions have their detractors, but I'm assuming that Grant regards both with equal validity as deriving from the same magical current. |

Thanks Anticredos, that is helpful as I only own "Nightside of Eden" at the moment.

N.O.X,
93.
First off...when it comes to joining the EOD (by the EOD, I'm assuming you're meaning the Esoteric Order of Dagon,) if it's info you seek on joining them, I could more than likely track down their contact info for you. I can't 100% promise to be able to get it, but a while back a friend of mine mentioned that her partner at the time knew how to get in touch with the order. I've been wanting to get the info myself, not for the sake of joining, but because Lovecraftian magick is a pet love of mine, and it would be a good reason to get back in touch with an friend, anyway! If you'd like me to try and get the information for you, let me know!
Secondly, when talking about the attributions of the Elder Gods to the various houses on the Tree of Life, what if we were to consider Yug Shuggoth as representing Malkuth? My understanding of her has always been that of a chaotic creation/mother goddess (very much like Kali!) dancing the wild dance of the creation of life, manifesting the stuff of spirit into flesh, and all of this pertains to Malkuth, in my mind, quite nicely. I've never known anyone to attribute her to this before, but it would make sense in my eyes as a good place for her upon the Tree.
93,

93,
It's been many years since any readings or ponderings over _The Necronomicon_, but I distinctly remember something about "Seven Gates" (please correct me if I'm wrong). In that light, perhaps those Gates refer to the seven Lower Sephiroth, ie. Chesed through Malkuth. Also, could it be possible for "The Fifty Names of Marduk" to be related to the Intelligences on the Tree? I know the math isn't the same, but it's an idea...

Just a quick reminder of the function of the Typhonian threads here (from the main Forum page):
For the discussion of matters Typhonian. Discussions should be restricted to matters of Thelemic interest.
I'm not sure that there's much of an overlap between Lovecraft and Thelema or the legacy of Aleister Crowley. Also, LAShTAL.COM is not intended for the discussion of Kenneth Grant's work outside his impact on Thelema and his work with Crowley.
I'm therefore locking this thread and am pleased that participants are able to take this discussion off to Private Messages or emails. |
