2 May 1910: The Cat Out Of The Bag

JOHN BULL

2nd May 1910

It is rather too late in the day to attempt to restrain the publication of the mysteries of the Rosicrucians.

If you enter a secret society and are admitted to brotherhood by solemn pledge and ritual, it is certainly not playing the game to let the cat out of the bag when it suits your purpose to do so.

As Lord Justice Farwell put it, even when the cat is out, it is dead.

Rosicrucians have even fewer secrets to guard than the Freemasons. So much babbling has been indulged in by members of this craft that a man need not be a mason to know almost everything there is to know.

Apart from the fact that mystery draws as well as minds, there would be little reason for either Rosicrucians or Freemasons making mystery at all.
