Video footage taken in 2006 of a solo performance of the instrumental music from my 2006 musical setting of Liber AL vel Legis. A short film of Boleskine Cemetery, South Loch Ness, accompanied by part of one of the instrumental sections from Steve Tromans’ musical setting of Liber AL vel Legis. The audio from the original video was mostly inaudible – hence, the overdubbing of the 2007 version for computer drone and melodica. The full recording (instrumental music only – without recitation) is available at www.steve-tromans.co.uk. The video is viewable on YouTube at the following address…

In 2006, Tromans premiered his musical setting of Liber AL vel Legis. The scales used for the melodica improvisations were derived from certain numbers taken from the Book itself and translated into musical frequencies. The computerised drone that accompanies the melodica also uses four key frequencies from the Book and is made up of the heavily treated words of all three chapters recited simultaneously. The premiere took place at London’s “The Vortex” on April 10th 2006. The piece was subsequently performed between April 8th-10th 2007 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The video was taken in January 2006.
