IN MEMORIUM
Robert North
It has come to our attention and personally just verified during a telephone conversation with his wife, that noted author and translator, Robert North has passed into the Next Step last Friday, 30 July 2010 at age 59. Survivors include his wife Sarah Gozland North and daughter Justine.
Born 28 July 1951 e.v., Robert North is perhaps best known for his translation and publication of Pascal Beverly Randolph’s Sexual Magic, Magickal Childe Publications, Inc., New York, 1988 e.v. (Randolph was identified as a powerful influence on the founders of both the Golden Dawn and the O.T.O.) Those of you who have read the Editorial within The Equinox, Thelema Publishing Company, 1981 e.v., Vol. V, No. 4 will remember Marcelo Ramos Motta’s honorable mention, wherein Mr. North is noted for having an O.T.O. Lodge in Missouri. His O.T.O. motto was Peni Tento Non Penitente. He would later relocate to Florida where he organized his Seminole O.T.O. Lodge after the Native Indian Tribe of Florida of the same name. He there extensively annotated a copy of Francis King’s The Secret Rituals of the O.T.O. for Lodge Initiation. Robert North would thereafter relocate to Boston Massachusetts where he was perhaps most productive as an accomplished artist, musician, writer, guru, translator, band manager, photographer, researcher and Grand Imperial Hierophant and Visible Head of The New Flesh Palladium, his own magical order, whose teachings explore sexual magick in its extremes. He continued his researches upon returning to Florida’s South Beach and also released the remainder of his writings recently through Lulu Publishing. Bob was our longtime Brother and friend, his place in the magical community shall be missed. Memorial Services will be held in Florida’s Miami Beach area toward the end of August. We shall post further details as information develops. May the Work he established continue and the cells of the New Flesh live on.
Sincerely.
