Yesterday saw the signing by Alan Moore and Michael Staley of the deluxe edition, at a secret subterranean location in London’s Bloomsbury*
Featuring an evocative introduction by Alan Moore and an illustrated analytical magical essay by Michael Staley, this edition reprints all the graphics and half-tone illustrations from a particularly fresh copy of the first edition. The text has been reset and the book also features a re-worked version of one of the original illustrations, alongside Mr Staley’s eulogy to Kenneth Grant, detailing his relationship with this work.
Illustrated endpapers and divider pages feature photomontages of the original book are overprinted with designs by Spare in silk varnish.
The deluxe cover has a striking chevron design out of moired silk and leather. A few copies still remain and also include a special insert, ‘The Books of Pleasure’, a new bibliography written by Clive Harper. This item is numbered and signed by the author.
