Lam in London: Wednesday 20 July

Following his recent exhibition, Gary Dickinson talks to The Moot With No Name about the artistic inspiration behind ‘Seven Masks’.

Drawing on classical Tibetan and Chinese traditions and the folk art of the borderlands between those two ancient civilisations, Gary recounts his imaginative journey through the strange ‘oriental’ landscape that Crowley ‘walked across’ in 1906 and which inspired his portrait of Lam in 1918.

This illustrated talk will be supported by further examples of masks.

Wednesday 20th July 2011, 7.30pm for 8pm, The Devereux Arms, Devereux Court just off The Strand in Central London.
