Much of the recent talk about impending movies of the life of Aleister Crowley seems like so much advertising “puff”. Here, though, is information relating to a planned movie that really does seem to have the edge…
The site – New Aeon Films – announces plans to make a movie called “Perdurabo”:

Writer and director Michael Chadwick gives the following synopsis:
This documentary tells the untold story of Aleister Crowley an enigmatic, dynamic and fascinating figure. A man who has had a tremendous impact on both world culture and events. We also plan to discuss and examine his philosophy and spiritual ideas. Our goal is to produce a quality, accurate and informative documentary about this influential individual.
Aleister Crowley, born in Victorian England to a life of financial privilege and religious bigotry, rebelled against his upbringing in every way possible. He became a mountaineer, bohemian, a writer of sensuous poetry, and a practitioner of what detractors called “the black arts.” In reality, he was an uninhibited explorer of global spiritual traditions combining ritual Magick with spiritual ecstasy. His winding path intersected ceremonial Magick, Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabbalah, sex, drugs, poetry and music. And what he offered mankind was a manifesto for a new age; “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. Love is the law, love under will.” And created an dynamic new philosophy called Thelema to carry us in to the new age.
For the first time, the life of one of the most remarkable men of the 20th century will be illuminated by this documentary film written and directed by Michael Chadwick a dedicated Filmmaker and lifetime practitioner of Thelema. The purpose of this documentary is to remove much of the confusion and mis-information about Aleister Crowley and his philosophy.
Also, the goal is to explore his story: Crowley as a man, philosopher, poet, adventurer, spiritual leader and mystic.
The exciting thing about this documentary is the dynamic range of individuals Crowley knew, his extensive travels and adventures that span the entire globe. The story of Perdurabo ends with the 21st century Thelemic writers, thinks, musicians, authors, magicians talking about the future of Crowley’s Philosophy called Thelema and the New Aeon.
Our main core audience is mainly those interested in A.C. ideas, philosophy, extensive writings and remaining spiritual organizations such as the Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) and the Ecclesia Gnostica Catholicae (Gnostic Catholic Church). But there is a larger core audience composed of people who have been mis-informed about this man and who would potentially be very interested. People who have heard his name in passing, such as in a popular song such as Ozzy Osbourne’s Mr. Crowley or spoken of by an influential member of our society such as Marilyn Manson or Timothy Leary. Many also who have heard untruths and outright lies from the media, pulpit or from their religious leaders. A.C. was a fascinating individual and being part of this documentary allows you to be part of a project which has never been successfully accomplished by filmmakers.
The idea for this film sprang from my own studies about Aleister Crowley and finding to my disappointment a total lack of accurate, well-researched or honest documentaries about this man. Those that have been done are inaccurate, sensationalist and biased beyond belief. I hope to fill this void and establish myself in the documentary film community as a honest, hard-working and dedicated filmmaker.
I hope to paint a solid, vivid picture of the astounding life of Aleister Crowley, his varied interests and influences, and the multiple directions his life took.
