Producers Overwhelmed With Response to Crowley Film Announcement
SANTA MONICA, CA — (MARKET WIRE) — 07/13/2004 — Worldwide interest in the real life sorcerer Aleister Crowley remains so high that producers Baker & Schrager found themselves inundated with thousands of e-mails upon the announcement of the making of “Aleister Crowley: Revolt of the Magicians.” Patricia Baker of The Big Picture Agency LLC is co-producing the film with Michael Schrager of The Dominion Entertainment Group.
The action/adventure screenplay written by Crowley and occult expert and author Lon DuQuette and Cinemagic founder Jim Bratkowsky is based on actual characters and events surrounding the destruction of Edwardian England’s most powerful and notorious magical societies.
“The response to our first press release was so astounding,” explains Schrager, “that both of our mail servers were overwhelmed.” In order to free their business addresses, the producers are in the process of designing a website to manage the inquiries and accolades that continue to flow in several months after the initial announcement.
Apparently Crowley remains larger than life and has sustained enormous appeal. “Crowley’s story is rich with real magic and fascinating characters,” explains producer Schrager. “Just imagine an adult Harry Potter/Indiana Jones meets the devil himself,” adds Baker. The film brings to the screen young Crowley’s magical training, experiments with demons and shapeshifters, and the lessons he needs to battle some of the most famous and powerful magicians in England, including Bram Stoker, creator of Dracula, Florence Farr, the most glamorous and famous actress of the London stage and Irish poet William Butler Yeats.
Lon DuQuette is the author of over a dozen popular books on the Occult and Qabalah, including the recent release, Understanding Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot, and the very well received autobiography, My Life With the Spirits. Jim Bratkowsky is an accomplished writer in television series, longform and feature films.
The website: www.revoltofthemagicians.com launches Friday.
