3) Crowley Research Materials.
The following items are mostly files from two crowley archives. The files mostly contain photocopies. I must emphasise that I only have one of each of these files and I cannot make copies. Some pages carry the OTO lamen and catalogue numbers. The creation of this archive was endorsed and encouraged by Grady McMurtry.
Aleister Crowley, Images of Aleister Crowley, not dated Folder containing 48 photographic prints of Crowley and people associated with him. Some are labelled copyright of Bristish Library and would appear to be photographs generated from microfische records of newspapers and magazines, it is likely that this is the surce of all the images as they are all all are on glossy photographic paper and will be the best obtainable image of the original publication. Some are unfamiliar. They include images of Rites of Eleusis and other material F Order No. 25015 #150

Aleister Crowley, Original Photographic Print, Not Dated (1920s) 14cm x 16.5cm Reverse bears stamp stating “Picture Post Library – Original Print must be returned” However this stamp appears on top of an earlier label now largely obscured with a blank paper label. Among the few words discernable is “renvoyer”, French for “Send Back” so presumably the picture was owned by a French picture agency before the picture post. To confuse matter more the French label is superimposed upon an earlier stamp which has the word “London” in it. Probably an original press photograph which has been owned by three different picture agencies. From another stamp by the Picture post it appears they filed it as “Crowley, Aleister FL 1920s English Author and Magician. This has been crossed out in pencil and “The Holy Guru” written in. Another hand in pencil (perhaps Yorke’s) has written “Crowley in the Desert (Yoga)” The picture itself is clearly aged, being slightly worn at the corners. The main part of the picture is clean and bright aside from having a slight sepia hue. It shows Crowley in Arab garb in a yoga meditation position, sat upon a cushion in frony of walls with decorative tiles which look North African. The sun is bright and Crowley is deeply tanned. Part of the same series used in the “Your Interest in Magic” leaflet which accompanied the first edition of Magic in Theory and Practice, dated 1929, though this particualr image is unfamiliar VG Order No. 25078 #250

Frieda Harris, Correspondence, Photocopies of letters to Aleister Crowley, not dated 109pp, large format, in card folder.
