Following on from the magnificent edition of the annotated Goetia by Aleister Crowley…
Colour reproduction of nineteenth century Grimoire or Book of Spells of Pope Honorius, once in the personal collection of Frederick George Irwin – a prominent fringe freemason and member of the ‘Society of Eight’ precursor to the Societas Rosicruciana In Anglia and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Irwin was an associate of Hockley who appears to have had this English language translation prepared from French originals of Honorius and the ‘Collection of the Secrets of the Magic Art’ of one Guidon, which draws heavily upon the Grimorium Verum and the ‘Pacts’.
Each copy 11inches by 8inches with original pages reproduced as inset plates, hand sewn in a full English Library binding, Victorian style cloth jointed endpapers, binders own distinctive green red and gold marbled papers matching the full leather Goetias produced by the Hel Fire Club. Copies bear a reproduction of the original owners bookplate on the front board.
Bound in quarter leather, deep red archival clansman goatskin from Hewitts of Edinburgh, dark forest green cloth sides, matching red and green headbands, red and green marker ribbons, spine blind tooled with nineteenth century period handtools.
Limited to 56 copies numbered after the attributions of the Minor Arcana.
