Thursday 24th May – An Evening With… Nigel Pennick
East Anglian Magic including the horse whispering tradition.
East Anglia has a distinct tradition of folk-magic, The Nameless Art, that reflects the particular character of the people and the landscape. Nigel Pennick will speak on the magical and spiritual inheritance of East Anglia, land of horse-whisperers, Toadsmen and Toadswomen, cunning folk and Bonesmen, practical and useful ways of being that continue unobtrusively today. East Anglian magic is practised by those who have an inner body knowledge of the land and its sacred places, conducting magical performances within the cycle of the mystic year. The Nameless Art contains traditional secrets whose roots lie in the Heathen traditions of the ancient Anglians and Danes who lived in East Anglia and whose descendents continue to use their ancient skills and wisdom today.
