ZOS SPEAKS – Opening show and exhibition in Glasgow 2007

Zos Speaks – August the 29th 2007 at Mono in Glasgow, Scotland.
23 Enigma is hosting an opening show and month long exhibition to honour the life and art of Austin Osman Spare. On the opening night show on the 29th of August 2007, there will be an exhibition of original artworks and recitations of his prose accompanied by music from some of Glasgow’s finest musicians. We are pleased to announce that talks on the life of Zos will given by our special guests Michael Staley and Caroline Wise, who will illustrate her talk with a slideshow. Michael has also very kindly written the introduction for our show catalogue which will be a folio containing the thirteen prints from the exhibition.

This event should be considered as an important facet of Bhakti or devotion to those figures we regard as teachers/ancestors. A simple way of achieving a greater understanding of the work of Zos is to utilise his name in line with the practice of mantrayama.

This is the first event of it’s kind to take place in Scotland and we hope the evening will bring people together and offer a glimpse into the life of this multi-faceted genius.

Everyone involved has donated their time and expertise free of charge, and 10% of profits from the sale of the prints, catalogues and t-shirts will go to the RSPCA, of which Zos was a lifelong member and vociferous supporter.

This is a free, unticketed event and all those with a genuine interest in this event are welcome. I also wish to thank those on Lashtal who have told seekers about our shop and thus who have helped this event take place. If anyone needs local information or details of accommodation etc, email us and we’ll help all we can. Full details at www.23enigma.com
