I am almost always available for a game on http://lichess.org

I found that chess playing and puzzles help with a lot of cognitive functions not just for kids. My concentration skills, planning, and short term memory skills have went through the roof with over the board play over the last year. Also the lessons in humility when losing to 9 year old's is priceless!

I am on the android app: Chess Time

under username: Sahgwa1

Any members here please feel free to invite me to a game.

I bounce back and forth between class E and Class D….social player vs strong social player.  Generally around 1200.

Does anyone know what rating AC was for most of his life (later on)?

@christibrany ELO ratings were not created until 1960 so the answer is no. A rating could be created if any surviving game scores of his could be found but it appears that none have.

[H]umility is something you do not have.

But he is a Gorean- his dozens of kajiras bolster his ego every time a 9 year beats him at chess.

For those who are unfamiliar, "Gorean" is an earlier term for what is now generally called an "incel" (with an interest in "swords'n'sorcery" fantasy fiction).

"Kajira" is the term these young men, who have never been touched by a woman not named "Mom", use for the objects of their inconsummate sexual fantasies. In "John Norman"'s  "Gor" novels, "kajiras" are the masochistic sex slaves of the mighty warriors.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kajira

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorean_subculture

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Norman

There is truly no more sad, ridiculous, and pathetic thing than a Gorean.

How many do one need? There are dozens that have survived, maybe hundreds.

@the_real_simon_iff could you share those please? I have not been able to see any. The usual count is at least 25 games.

93, RuneLogIX!

For starters there is this: https://www.lashtal.com/download/eastbourne-gazette-chess-articles/

There also once was Crowley's Chess Diary (the Chess Kit) available for download, but apparently not now. PM if you are interested.

Don't remember that

Your online persona Avatar has been known to assume many stances. I don't remember where or when. Ignant will have your portfolio. Any references to you being schizophrenic, or duality-driven, or being enrolled in opposing political tongs, is open for comments and insults, but such will be unfair, for you have repented and now assume a solid, stable position.

Uh ... can you remind us again what that position is?

Exactly! In a chess thread, no less.

Reductive materialism?  Everyone should be grounded in that and then move on.

Thelemic Communist-anarchism and alternatives to money?   I lend it an ear, I think it's nuttery but I lend it an ear.

Thanks for the link!

Are PM's back? if so, how?

No smoke for me thanks!  Stinky.

I was not defending anyone actually, just poking you.

Which is easy to do.

It would be interesting if someone tried to rate AC based on extant games, but I would not be the one knowing how to do that.

That's a new sentence there i.e. you used a full stop after 'thanks!' then we have this out of nowhere statement 'stinky'.   Haha.

I was going to say well at least you're being more coherent but no, on second thoughts my son, no I can't.

Your occasional outbursts of pedantic criticisms regarding grammar might carry more weight, dom, if you were to habitually pay more attention to the observation of such matters yourself; it's therefore rather odd that you don't do that, however!  And where is this "full stop after 'thanks!'" - are you hallucinating?  OHoHo!

Posted by: @dom

It wasn't totally incoherent to me - I understood it to be chris making a metaphorical point that you were "stinking" the (web)room up yourself with whatever it is you're "smoking" instead, of a decidedly inferior aroma?

Elucidatingly yours,

N Joy

I don't think it's a case of "an epic quest for attention", dom. Like Jamie, I can't see a full-stop after "thanks!".

Yes, quite: but all Lashtalians should know by now that "dad" - clearly losing his marbles - never likes admitting to or having to address his shortcomings...

Exclamation marks contain full stops.

- cried he, scrabbling at straws...  Spot the difference: one's a (exclamation) mark, the other's a (full) stop - or period, if you happen to be an American.

The point was that christibranny made a new sentence ie with a capital letter for the word 'Stinky" after his prior sentence which ENDED with an exclamation mark which does indeed contain a full stop.

Seek my son, seek and maybe a course in reading comprehension also.

Still digging away, eh daddy-o?

Sigh!  Some people just don't know when to stop.  To return back to your original quibble which started this all off:

Posted by: @dom

That's a new sentence there i.e. you used a full stop after 'thanks!' then we have this out of nowhere statement 'stinky'.

Even if we allow for the full stop being contained within a '!' (or equally a '?'), as you continually want to belabour the "point" about, you're saying here that it is after it (i.e., the bit in quotation marks), which would have made it

'thanks!'.

But chris never did this, did he?  Nor did he start a new sentence with a small letter 's' for 'Stinky', which you managed to do here (above) with your customary intermittent and poor attention paid to detail.

Had enough yet?  Or shall I close with that favoured expression of yours - what was it now? Oh yes, that was it:

'Gotcha!' 😑

N Joy

Yes I see, I should've quoted the 'thanks' without the exclamation mark then we wouldn't have had the quibble.

You see what I mean by chris's incoherence involving the seperate statement that was the sentence  'Stinky'?

I've already told you (vide supra) what I understood chris meant by his use of the word, that rightly or wrongly he was probably employing metaphor so wasn't being totally incoherent.

I also suggest maybe allowing chris to answer for himself further on this most fascinating sideline.  I wonder what he will have to say!

(Incidentally as you seem so anxious to observe correct English, you spell the word "separate".)

A one word sentence such as 'Stinky' after what he wrote is grammatically acceptable?  I'll look into that sometime.

Do!  You'll find plenty of examples, all depending on context (such as the sentence before).  Who's this final arbiter of yours regarding what is "grammatically acceptable", by the way?

Incidentally, Michael, I didn't notice your point about 'separate' when I posted just now otherwise I wouldn't have duplicated it.  However I feel your sage words of advice

will be wasted, as I don't think d. appreciates irony any more than he does metaphor!

Yeah but 'stinky' as a sentence in that context?  It would've been more logical to include the 'stinky' as the final word in the first sentence as he was addressing me.

Really?  You prefer that option (as in: "No smoke for me thanks, Stinky!"), as if he were calling you an uncomplimentary name?  But how would that be more "logical" than metaphorical, then, if he can't actually smell you?

Please note, I am thinking of amending my previous comment

So this tangent of syntactical mock-pedanticism in a chess thread was borne of your subconscious desire to be humiliated expressing itself in your interpreting the word stinky as an insult rather than a descriptor of tobacco (or marijuana) smoke's malodor?

Yes, christibrany is a great sage who holds a mirror up to oversized egos.   He publicly champions Donald Trump yet this is a mere exercise in a Daoist reversal of polarities ie he's taking the piss out of us reactive fools.

'Stinky'?  Maybe you should use apostrophes when referring to an isolated term from an earlier source.
