I first heard about this tribe in the educational TV prog known as Jackass. They are a fringe Hindu sect who desecrate graves, eat dead bodies and drink human blood from skull-cups.

Basically AC was a sh1t-eater. We know he wrote about it and Regardie said that's where he got off. Some say that's how Loveday really contracted his dysentery. This sort of thing has led to rumours about all kinds of brutal evil activity attributed to Crowley and the OTO and various upper class secret clubs such as the Bush family 'skull and bones' club. Apparently Bush's grandad stole Geronimo's skull from his grave and as involved in Aghori-like activity. We know that the Bush Dynasty are probably the least spiritually enlightened people in society however could we same about Hell's Angels who also dare each other to do horrible things in their 'initiation'? That is, sometimes a pervert or an abusive psychopathic cult will use aversion-confrontation as a fake means of initiation. We do know that AC was complex ie somewhat of a pervert but he was also an 'initiate' who produced scientific treaties on illumination.....the Bush family didn't and I don't see any Hell's Angles manuals on liberation either.

Here's a link albeit with an anti-Crowley agenda and probably filled with John Bull- like half-truths;

https://enigmachannel.wordpress.com/2015/07/03/crowleys-cannibals-they-drink-from-skulls-eat-corpse-flesh/

I guess this relates to AC piercing his cheek with a knife or sharpened instrument when under the tutelage of a Voodoo priest.

Here below another initiate produces an instruction manual for his version of what this path entails (I do not endorse any of his methods by the way);

Aghoris are not a tribe, but a form of Hindu devotion, devotees of the original Shiva. They follow the "Left Hand Path" (in the original, eastern sense of that phrase) by doing forbidden things, like smearing themselves with corpse-ashes, eating meat and shit, getting drunk, and smoking tons of hash. They are some terrifying dudes.

Regular Hindu sadhus are notorious for approaching young westerners and smoking up several grams of hash in one chillum-inhalation. Aghoris are more standoffish, and i have only seen them from a distance.

If I recall this one correctly from my period as a bhakta of Kali, most Aghori's are also her children, not purely/singly Vaishnavites. I suppose it is related of course. They perform their rituals, and live in the cremation and garbage grounds and worship Shakti in Kali form for her destructive and ego destroying properties. Of course She is consort of Shiva and eventually subdues Him. Kinda a yin-yang deal 😉

I know a common form of getting-over-repulsion-in-pursuit-of-enlightenment is mental visualization of said activities, not necessarily performing them.

AC even includes this in the liber about visualizing your own death, and torture etc.

sh1t-eating global Aghori movement is the least of the worries.
There are rumors that they also consume the unwitting, tax and bill paying urchin in order to bring them to the other side. And it’s not even Christmas yet.

Also from Liber CL De Lege Libellum L— L— L— L— L

http://lib.oto-usa.org/libri/liber0150.html but I'm beginning to think it's prank;

Thus in human love also we see that mediocrities among men mate with null women: but History teacheth us that the supreme masters of the world seek ever the vilest and most horrible creatures for their concubines, overstepping even the limiting laws of sex and species in their necessity to transcend normality. It is not enough in such natures to excite lust or passion: the imagination itself must be enflamed by every means

cs: They perform their rituals, and live in the cremation and garbage grounds and worship Shakti in Kali form for her destructive and ego destroying properties.

This is my understanding. I wonder if this really works? That is, how many Aghoris achieve permanent liberation? I have no data.

T: tax and bill paying urchin

Said urchin is feeding the Black Lodge ... so he/she deserves to be eaten. I pay taxes and bills, but I am exempt and not to be easily eaten. I am permitted to extend this exemption to others. Please send one pound (of fecal matter) to qualify for exemption.

Not a hippy backpacker, i was all punk-rock with short hair and a motorcycle jacket, but more or less yes. In spring 1978, i went from Paris to Istanbul, to Tehran, to Meshed (Iran), Herat, Kandahar, and Kabul in Afghanistan, then through the Khyber Pass to Peshawar (Pakistan), and onwards to Amritsar and Delhi in India. Wandering sadhus were common in all public places in india, like wandering cows.

Do you mean like Kenneth Grant cautiously (timidly?) suggested only mentally visualising the rising of the Kundalini rather than "necessarily" actual physically performing the practice of awakening the fire snake itself (which he regarded as a bit risky and on the "dangerous" side)?

d: Punk. Hippy. Is there a difference?

Above the abyss, there is no difference. Down here, hippidom is not punk. That's why they have two different names/titles. It's a generational changing of Aeons, no, eras, and attitudes. Every generation displays a new form of individualistic rebellion, which of course contains elements of the previous era/generation. Punk was rebellious against being labeled "Hippie." And probably anything else. I am a "subject matter expert" in Hippie lore ... I was still growing up alongside that (counter)culture. I know virtually nothing about Punkers, that era coming in while I was absorbed in other matters, so Ignant will have to furnish the nitpicking details.

Aghora is very heavy-duty stuff, and yes, AC employed its basic principles to himself and his students. Since he had already "attained" by Cefalu times, we must look to his students to see if this dirty stuff produced any redemable results.

The answer is NO. We might examine possible exceptions. Frant Bennett (Aus) got some sort of green light (go), but I have seen no signs of him "attaining" (8=3, nothing less counts in this, my anal-ysis of excrement intake and goat copulating).

Jane Wolfe seems to have remained in bhakti for the remaining years of her life, and it was she who spawned most of the lineages that popped up: Solar Lodge, McMurtry, Seckler (undergoing division hither homeward into Northern and southern California lineages, Cornelius. So she (JW) was a primary distribution point for what we have today, but where are the signs of an 8=3?. Notice how most lines trace back to stubborn women? Here, in the midst of a long paragraph (where it will be overlooked by the casual, impatient black magician), I will now give you an est-oteric [sic, sarc] secret: The lineages role out in yin-yang order. that is, the "point" is passed on from a man to a woman, and from that woman to a man ... ad infinitum. I'm sure someone can raise objection and cite differences. Okay, but I'm too busy planning my move and selecting my new name. I probably won't be around to debate the point.

Anyway, I don't think Aghoric disgustingness necessarily leads to liberation. It may have actually worked for some demented sadhu, and the psychological application is sound, but remember ... Medical Note: Excrement is loaded with (not may be loaded) e. Coli, a bacterium that helps everyone digest mass food particles, but it can/may/might kill you if recycled through your mass particle input aperture (mouth). Many people overcome this invasion because their bacterium constitution is hardy and balanced, and thus can overwhelm the e. Coli. But if your (anyone's) biological makeup in the colon is off-whack (not a medical term), you/they can reach early liberation. This is the basis of the vulgar phrase, eat shit and die!

I have seen no scripture named Liber Excrementum, so this is one of those "secret techniques" practiced in-person when you visit Cefalu or maybe Netherwood.

Liber Excrementum

There is "Mandarin Meals" in TBOL, with the sigil pretty clearly made up of the letters "S-H-I-T".

No nitpicking needed on your punk/hippie differentiation- you are correct that punk was a counterculture that was very much rebelling against hippies. Of course, most of us (like me and Mick Jones circa 1975-6) had long hair before we chopped it off in 1977, and many of us continued to smoke lots of ganja after punk began, John Lydon of the Pistols/PIL, and all of the Clash, being notorious examples.

What do you want me to say? Excrement? It's the same meaning.

Obviously it has the same meaning (you have a rare talent for stating what John Cleese fondly referred to as "the bleedin' obvious", dom.) I don't mind what you call it. (I believe the technical name for it [i.e., an eater of ordure] is a coprophiliac). I was simply wondering --- as you will see if you review the sentence again --- why it is that, after about in the region of a dozen posts lately where you've been extremely liberal in your use of profanities, f'ing and binding at the drop of a hat, you've now regressed to an earlier state when you were reluctant to spell them out in full (e.g., spelling 'shit' as sh1t and 'fuck' as f*ck. I mean, I know you can suddenly change your mind on things and sometimes do a complete 180 degree turn with startling abruptness and all, but what does this latest reversal betoken & what has brought it on again?

Anthropologically yours,
N Joy

PS "Edit": In the less than twenty minutes since reading and replying to your previous answer, you appear to have totally changed it and thereby possibly made my own one redundant! Another sign of your quicksilver mind, perhaps?!

Ig: There is “Mandarin Meals” in TBOL, with the sigil pretty clearly made up of the letters “S-H-I-T”.

I am well aware of that sigil. It simply proves the point (AC = Aghori = sort of). But it's highly coded and not a free-standing Liber. And if it was, I's lobby for its removal ... because is has not been sufficiently demonstrated to lead to liberation.

Ig: continued to smoke lots of ganja

Ganja is a common denominator throughout the eras. I hear that silicon valley developers micrdose LSD on a daily basis. No wonder our devices are so screwed up. I don't think they banish before the develop. So ... talk about a Center of Pestilence in the Black lodge.

jb: (I believe the technical name for it [i.e., an eater of ordure] is a coprophiliac)

Correct. Please advance one step.

"Coprophagia () or coprophagy () is the consumption of feces. The word is derived from the Greek κόπρος copros, "feces" and φαγεῖν phagein, "to eat"

If the awakening of the Fire Snake is premature, that is if the primal power ascends before all is balanced, a discharge occurs at some improperly sealed stage of the ascent; the power is deflected or takes a wrong direction, and obsession results. “

Upper class hazing traditions probably exist but put it this way there's no psychedelic initiation there is there otherwise they wouldn't be in the Republican Party.

@jamiejbarter

I think a cautious approach to raising kundalini is quite a good idea; it's not timidity. Many years ago I read a book by Gopi Krishna which included his account of an unintended raising of the kundalini and its tortuous aftermath. On the other hand, I'm sure that many people have negotiated the rapids successfully.

It's true that Kenneth Grant favoured an imaginative approach based on section SSS of Crowley's Liber HHH. However, members of the Typhonian O.T.O. were free to employ more physical means - e.g., using the postures, locks and pranayama techniques -  if they preferred. Chapter 5 of Cults of the Shadow contains passages from the Magical Record of someone who elected to take a more physical approach.

To a certain extent it's a false dichotomy of course. Hatha yoga is performed with attention, rather than say wondering what shopping you need, or what might happen to Shula Archer in tonight's episode. Imagination is a central part of ritual magic, too. When performing the LBRP, for instance, we don't just make the gestures and intone the words. We visualise the archangels at the quarters. At the West, we see, taste, hear, small and feel (with as much intensity as we can muster) the elements. We immerse ourselves in the ritual.

Although I practised Hatha Yoga intensively for a couple of years in the early 1980s, it wasn't kundalini yoga. On the other hand, again in the early 1980s, I did work upon the lines of section SSS of Liber HHH for a year or so, and had very good results from the practise.
