You had written music at home prior to the sessions. Were you living in Aleister Crowley's former estate at that point?
No, I wasn't at Crowley's house. I lived in the countryside in Sussex, and it was a really interesting house. At the top of the house, I had a multitrack studio put in, and it gave me a chance to work on textures. I had the whole of "Ten Years Gone," all of the guitar orchestration, prepared in that house. I came up with "The Wanton Song" and "Sick Again," and I had the whole concept of the "Kashmir" basically there.

I’m rather partial to “No Quarter” myself.

Oh hang on, that’s off “Houses of the Holy” and a John Paul Jones number to boot, isn’t it.

“Houses of the Holy” – now doesn’t that refer to the abodes Headley Grange, Boleskine House, Tower House, The Old Mill House, etc etc…?  That’s on “Physical Graffiti” I know.  (It used to be side 2, track one.)

Maybe there’s also an out-take somewhere else using this logic which is actually called “Physical Graffiti”…?

Pass the mescaline, Alice.

“Dazed and confused”?! 😀

It's funny,  Page's mockney accent when Jones say "we have to get this plane in Jimmy?" lol.

How were they proposing to get the plane in Jimmy?

Nope. It's Eddie Kramer, the sound engineer, not John Paul Jones. And the exchange is:

Shall we roll it Jimmy?
We're rolling on, uh, what, One?
No, One again
Gotta get this airplane off.
Nah, leave it, yeah

The song is 'Black Country Woman', by the way.

Page conducted a live-streamed Q&A session the other night following the release of the PG re-issue.  He made a comment along the lines of 'restriction is a sin' in the context of musical creativity.

That's right, Bedazzled. You'll see the various comments if you take a look at the Chat Box at the bottom of the home page of this site.
