2-25-2011 in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, Qanat-TACIS (Triskelion Art Culture & Intellingence Association) presents the international project of the Abbey of Thelema Restore and Museum.
Public presentation of the International Project for the Aleister Crowley Museum in Sicily and the restoration of Villa Santa Barbara. Worldwide it is known as the Abbey of Thelema and during Fascism, from 1920 to 1923-24, it has been the seat and center of an international community focused on inner research, the study of Western and Eastern Tradition, the practice coupled with pitagorical life, the Ancient Mysteries and the religion of the Great Mother, the Egyptians, the Golden Dawn's Kabbalah and psychoanalysis. Since 1990 it's part of the regional architectonic heritage and it's also called Temple of Love and Will.
Workshops with round table, screenings and debate about the work and philosophy of Aleister Crowley, poet, painter, climber, naturist, erotomaniac, dandy, magician, alchemist, tantric guru, yoga teacher, who has played an essential role in Neo-Templar, Neo-Gnostic, Neo-Pagan, Wiccan, New Age, Hippie, Psychedelic, Rock, Metal, Industrial, Satanic, Scientologist Movements etc. He has also inspired the tales of Ian Fleming, William Sommerset Maugham, Leonardo Sciascia, Vincenzo Consolo, Giuseppe Quatriglio among others. Crowley was acquantaiced with Gabriele D'Annunzio, Fernando Pessoa, Winston Churchill etc. and represented an important model figure for the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Therion, Marilyn Manon, Ain Soph, Coph Nia, Current 93, Coil, Psychick TV, Throbbing Gristle, Alfred Kinsey, Timothy Leary, Robert Anton Wilson and so on.
Qanat Records is glad to announce that for this occasion a special new edition of the collectible "The Great Beast Speaks" cd will be presented: it contains Crowley's original voice reciting and singing pieces of poetry and holy prayers, and a multimedia bonus track containing unpublished texts, pictures and videos. All the money raised will contribute to fund the Nonprofit Project for the Museum and the Restoration of the Abbey of Thelema.
