Thanks for the link, Zym! Interesting stuff here...

"Is Thelema an equivocal philosophy?

Answer based on observation:

It probably depends on who you ask. I would hazard a guess that the majority of people would say ‘yes’. Many, I think, would say ‘yes’ because they believe that. Most, I think, would say ‘yes’ because “everyone else is saying it”.

Personal answer:

My personal opinion is that the older I get, the deeper I dig, and the more I apply what I’ve found into the real world, the tighter, the more concise, and the more precise I find the philosophy of Thelema to be. In short, we’ve had a lot of years of people running around quoting it, enumerating it, and generally trying to pull all kinds of correspondences out of it all. But when it comes to practical, real life application, the Law suddenly narrows its aperture to shine light only in so many directions. I don’t think this makes Thelema ambiguous, or equivocal, at all. I think Thelema is consistent. I think it is Thelemites who are not. I also think it makes Thelema, and most specifically the Book of the Law, multi-layered precisely because there are those who will pursue its mysteries, those who will pursue its secrets (these are not the same as the former), and those who will apply it to life. There is no conflict there. Just different perspectives. There are, indeed, “the Hermit, and the Lover, and the man of Earth” — however one may choose to interpret those “Grades”."

Say, that link leads to a sight (site) of infinite, limitless essays, pronouncements & blobs (blogs). Maybe someone who is an aspiring Thelemic detective can spend a week or two sorting through it all and then tell the rest of us who it is and what they are saying and if they are really behind the Manifesto that is surely likely to change all of our lives.

Yes, quite a collection of blobs, I particularly enjoyed Patriarch156's musings from last month, but I read most of this stuff anyway - and it sheds little light on the coming manifesto, from what I can see at a glance.

Just to set the record straight, unless there is a misunderstanding. I have nothing to do with either the manifesto or circus site and am not in contact with its owner.

It is argued in this thread, in line with Crowley's position, that the application of the Law of Thelema in this world would succeed in eventually solving all of its problems.

It is common sense, in line with Crowley's position, that application of the Law of Thelema in this world must be based on teamwork and cooperation.

Promotion of the Law of Thelema would be strongly enhanced, if it through the teamwork and cooperation required, could be proven to succeed in solving problems in this world.

A recipe for the continuation of the current failure, is to just promote the Law of Thelema without anything valuable like proven successes to display, as such promotion is unlikely to make people want the Law of Thelema more.

christibrany, as you reject that Thelema is about spreading the Law, and the subject matter of this thread is the promotion of the Law of Thelema to the world, it does make sense if you want to derail this thread.

Yes, as I have discussed with Patriarch156 privately, there was a link to his writings on this site, apparently without his knowledge or consent.

If I may butt in... Not sure about "derail," but it would be the same as if someone posted in lashtal.com Forum Index » Typhonian » Kenneth Grant that the subject was a waste of time, in their opinion. How would you regard such an interruption in a discussion, especially if it was done repeatedly, Michael?

No, it wouldn't be the same at all. Chris wasn't saying that the subject of the thread was a waste of time, but merely expressing his view that proselytizing was likely to repel.

No MichaelStaley, I asked christibrany what nonsense like posting the word Rhubarb have to do with this thread and its subject matter, the promotion of the Law of Thelema to the world?

christibrany posting "Well clearly, Rhubarb", as a respons to that question, is said person trolling me, and maybe also said person wanting to derail this thread.

For this I suggest a second warning to the said person.

WellReadFred.. Since you want to feign ignorance I will explain.

"Rhubarb" stems from a reply to your BabbleOn box posting of "Scientology" from a week ago. WRWB you tend to post unrelated rants or a general non-sequitar. "Rhubarb" is a way of meeting your nonsense with nonsense. Its interesting that it bothers you so... we would love not to engage you at all but you seem to attract animosity like a magnet. Its uncanny and I wonder if you are like this in your daily life. If so I pity those trapped in close proximity to you.

I have no interest in derailing the thread - your comments tend to do that just fine. I merely wanted to show you how disinterested the majority of us are in your "participation."

Moderator's Note

If I might just step in for a moment here?

Tempers are running high and, to be honest, I'm not entirely surprised.

Personal insults are unnecessary, though, and against the spirit of open discussion that I've always tried to foster on LAShTAL.COM. Having said that, the comments are not without some provocation and I do understand why they've been made.

It's time now, though, to calm things down a little and to return to the thread's topic.

As an aside, I'm surprised that WRWB's are prompting such emotional responses, if only because I find his posts utterly incomprehensible.

So: back to the topic. Off-topic posts will be deleted in due course from this point on…

Gold Two: [the Y-wings are running the gauntlet toward the Death Star reactor-port] The guns - they've stopped!
Gold Five: [realizes why] Stabilize your rear deflectors... Watch for enemy fighters.
Gold Leader: They're coming in! Three marks at 2-10!
[Gold Two is slain by Darth Vader and his wingmen; Gold Leader starts to panic]
Gold Leader: It's no good, I can't maneuver!
Gold Five: Stay on TOPIC!
Gold Leader: *We're too close!*
Gold Five: Stay on TOPIC!
Gold Leader: [shouts] Loosen up!
[he too is picked off by Vader and Company; Gold Five tries to escape but is fatally winged]
Gold Five: Gold Five to Red leader, lost Tiree, lost Dutch.
Red Leader: I copy, Gold Leader.
Gold Five: It came from... behind!

MichaelStaley, below I have provided a postings from the 'Babble-on-Box', where einDoppelganger "propose the following; "[...] from now on when WRWB posts we all answer with rhubarb [...]." Such nonsense should remain in the so-called 'Babble-on-Box', and not be spread around in threads, don't you agree MichaelStaley?

I expect a minimum of respect from anyone communicating with me on this forum's threads, dont't you expect the same for yourself MichaelStaley? Some might be antagonised by being held to such a standard.

So if the rhubarb-nonsense can remain in the 'Babble-on-Box', and we can, in the threads at least, treat each other with a minimum of respect, things are gonna be just fine with me.

Now, back to the subject matter of this thread, www.thelemicmanifesto.org and the promotion of the Law of Thelema.

WRWB,

I can perhaps be forgiven under the circumstances for quoting myself:

"lashtal" wrote:

You clearly don't believe this polite request applies to you.

In addition:

- You appear to have used at least one "sock puppet"account, although I am aware that you denied this, blaming the coincidental shared use of a PC.

- Your posts were, frankly, incomprehensible.

For these reasons and, with regret, I am forced to close your account here. You were given warnings as the result of previous failures to comply with the Guidelines.

To be honest, though, your posts rarely added anything to LAShTAL.COM. You took more than you gave to these Forums.

Making rhubarb available and shoving it down people's throats are quite different things, I'm sure we'll all agree.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law,

I just went to the website, and there's nothing there. It's actually just a place holder website page, as if it was or is under construction, but nothing more. Hosted by Go-Daddy, btw.

Chris: I take the same approach. I don't go around proselytizing, either, as I let my work stand on its own merit, and those that are curious can ask. Not only does that seem to be the karmically best approach, it is also very Babalon in its manifestation, and I've had a few respectable people, on this site and on other sites, that have said they like that approach. So, in short, different strokes for different folks, it would seem. 🙂

love is the law, love under will.

fwiw
The site became a place holder at least a week before the alleged launch of the manifesto (like a dog returning to his vomit I periodically checked it  ).
Cold feet? Joke? Lack of interest? or did those brave/foolhardy enough to leave their email addresses get sent something?
Mysteries upon mysteries.

I believe the owner (who seems to have registered a lot of these domains without doing much with them one way or the other) merely set a countdown to when it would expire. He probably never came up with anything he deemed interesting enough to put on such a site.

I know how *I* exchange it. Participate in your local Magickal/Pagan Community. Be yourself, but give of yourself for the greater good-- volunteer. People *will* notice, and if you apply your ethics (as discussed in Duty) in your every day life, you will gain their respect, and *then* they will *want* to know. Because they are always watching. Seekers seek. And if they see hypocrisy, they will seek elsewhere.
