Hello all,

I know this is a bit of a long-shot, or a lot of a long shot, (I think I even posted this years ago) but I Was wondering if due to the passage of time anyone had a copy of Gareth Hewitson-May's 'Dark Doorway of the Beast' that they would be willing to part with? If so, how much?

The cheapest copy I can find online is 500 GBP which is way beyond my price range. I am thinking something between 0 and 200 GBP if that is possible....

Respectfully,

Chris

Hi New Neuberg 🙂

Luckily a kind poster here who I respect much despite occasionally disagreeing with, sold me his copy some years ago for which I am very grateful.

It surely is a very interesting book, if a tad hung up on schizophrenia 🙂

Hi all,

I've had this book for 20+ years. I'm *still* not entirely sure I follow all the implications... 😉

Drop me a note if you ever want to chat 🙂

Welcome back Alysa, and good to see you again Neuberg.

In a nutshell this book (if I recall correctly) stated that schizophrenics have a more magickal/powerful and perhaps accurate view of the world, as they are able to directly access the 'Dark Doorway of the Beast', being Daath/the subconscious and archetypal world, and so us normal folk should try to cultivate a type of schizophrenia at will, as a tool...

Very um unique and fascinating.

Hello, Christibrany, NewneubergOug, and Gravunity, please don't spoil too much of the content for me!

Thanks for the welcome back, Christibrany, everything all right with you (I think it is, but I wanna it to know for sure!)

I'm not willing to comment here a lot, just let you know I'm still interessted in Aleister Crowley, Austin Osman Spare, Kenneth Grant and of course the very others, but alas, live gives you not always the opportuniy to study much!

So, for the moment I try to resign a rather silent member of this excellent site, of course!

Best wishes to you all!

schizophrenics have a more magickal/powerful and perhaps accurate view of the world

In some cases this may be somewhat true. Some people get their "higher" circuits activated but, because they've done no work (of control), their perception and application get crossed up and they confuse the planes. (They think a 747 is a 777, and so they board the wrong plane).

Since they cannot apply their insights to practical matters, and because they don't even begin to exercise or understand the wisdom of the fourth power, they end up gorked on calming medications or visiting the farm of hilarity.

This syndrome applies to but a few (eso-ter-ic). Any inference suggesting that all schizos are misunderstood adepts is mixing the forest with the trees.

"Normal" folk? There's no need to be insulting in your paraphrasal review.

"Controlled derangement of the senses" another prophet called it.

How dare you put me in such a category? Please review shrink Ignant's notes.

"Controlled derangement of the senses" another prophet called it.

And before him, there was Pratyahara ("withdrawal from the senses [indriyas]" without psychic temblors.

You're a hoot, and you don't pollute.

I saw this guy on a trailhead also back in the good ol' days and I think he is super cute.

But what I don't like is having to spit out my wife's random hairs, from my mouth chute.

Because they are on my keyboard, to boot....

What is a psychic temblor.

I think Duck was referring to the poet Arthur Rimbaud's so-called "systematic derangement of the senses" as a way to transcend mundane consciousness and receive poetic visions, inspirations, etc.
