It seems I have been here before I have been here.

If you look here you will find a lot of 'tosh'.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/castaway/castaways/winner_jonathan.shtml

if you want to know who I am, you should ignore most of what you find there, but the interesting bits - I think - are (at the top) 'Highlights' and 'Judged' and (at the bottom) 'Reflects', 'Profile' and 'Audition'.

Then when you discover who I am, you can let me know.

VII degree indeed!

93 Thelemaway,

Thanks for posting. I think you may well be the genuine article -- in terms of the person you claim to be. However, this site is not for "personalities", so you'll excuse me if I don't indulge you by discussing "who you are". It really isn't about that, so please forego the potential glamour and don't expect to be exalted too much.

Best wishes,
Ian

Welcome here

I make it a point of not basing my opinions upon the words of others.

Who you are should simply be answered in that you are you, for who else could you be? 🙂

I subjected myself to this trial by television, Rev, specifically to assist me in knowing myself. It provided an unambiguous opportunity to 'see myself as others see me' to paraphrase the bard.

O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae monie a blunder free us,
An' foolish notion:
What airs in dress an' gait wad lea'e us,
An' ev'n devotion!

It strikes me that there is not much in the world except the words of others and the thoughts of myself.

There is nothing new between my ears without what comes from without.

Welcome Thelemaway.

The deliberate trial, can be a great way to learn about ourselves I agree.
Kind of like a vision quest.
A lot of people like to sit somewhere and meditate. I do however see a great value in going on physical journeys. It can be magickal indeed in my view.
Crowley, of course, was a great mountain climber. This was an aspect of his magickal living I think.

Cheers

I must ask then, did you see yourself as others see you?
Whatever the answer to that, I do hope it was beneficial 🙂

Aum!
Ever wonder if the increasing lack of original thought is simply because the collective stockpile is running low? Mayhaps if we could turn everything upside down it may prove an effective stimulant.

Well, I saw myself on flat square screen; I saw what others chose to show of me; my voice came out of the speakers at the side of the screen. What entered my eyes and ears was the same as whatever entered everyone elses' eyes and ears, but that's not where the seeing takes place, is it?

As to the benefit, more information was obtained.

I believe that thought evolves in much the same way as life. The search for an 'original species' is absurd, and will lead you to a chemical gloop three and half billion years ago whence there is nothing new, only old stuff revised. 'Original thought' probably occurred in the same place, at the same time.

Sometimes in history there have been great explosions of thought, as there have been of species.

Possibly there is no original (sic) thought any more because all the niches have been filled?

No indeed, although I'm sure there are those who would say otherwise.

Yes, I believe so too, yet sometimes I question this when walking down the street lol.

Quite possibly, although one does hope that such exists - Although I suppose it's also possible that such thought is limited to those who are free from the social programming which so binds the mind. All speculation of course, terribly anti-social myself.

All is as Nothing
