93,

Hello everyone!
I am new to Lashtal so thought I would follow the guidelines and ntroduce myself to you all.
My name is Gary, I am 36, live in the UK and am a Civil Engineer by trade.

I first discovered Crowley and Thelema in 2001 after watching a BBC documentary entitled 'The wickedest man in the world'. Prior to this I had never heard of Aleister Crowley and thought the wickedest man in the world was Gary Glitter.

The following morning I had an overwealming obsession to learn more about this man ,which was strange as the documentary was not that inspirational. I went out and purchased the 1992 Weiser twin volume edition of the Equinox Vol 1 for £280. A princely sum to someone who at that time was living on an old fishing boat and had no regular employment to speak of. The price was an irrelevance as at that time I had a feeling that once I had that book everything would be ok.

The book arrived and I didnt understand a word! That didnt matter though as I knew I had to own it and that it would unveil itself as time went by. This was the start of a very satisfying but ultimatley expensive hobby for an unemployed chef.

Fortunatley not long after this I was offered employment working for an engineering firm. This was a complete chance offering and still now I do not know what chain of events caused this to happen. Long story short, my company paid to retrain me as a Civil Engineer which allowed me to cary on accumulating my collection.

Over the years I have dipped into some of my books and things have slowly started to unveil themselves and I am starting to understand the work. Towards the end of last year I made a concious decision to stop being an observer and start participating. I started reading the A:A reading list, doing the yoga and mediation and working with the LBRP and Liber Resh. I have a magical diary which I use to record my practices and have approached the OTO for membership.

So thats me....In a nutshell (sorry if that nutshell has turned out to be a little to big)

Sounds to me like you're doing a fine job mastering Malkuth. My students never seem to take me seriously when I tell them that mastery of *this* sphere-- a source of income, a place for one's 'stuff', the ability to act in a crisis, the mastery of one's body and mind,-- is neccessary before one can hope to venture to higher spheres. And then they wonder why they keep tripping over their own dick.

Keep up the Great Work!

Dear Walterfive
I could not agree more with you
Although, I think that  student's  do not have to necessarily be able to materialize every aspect of the physical world and so on. But something close to that would be close enough --:)
Furthermore as my knowledge reaches,I would recommend the work of Jeff Love,( The Quantum Gods)
where he is gives a some new methods(relatively) of how a individuals may  reveal their true will.
Also i think that the  same can be reached  by some Magical systems. But It's up to individuals to decide which path he will take.

Best wishes
and especially regards to Kyle --:)

Welcome, Gary.

You know, Walterfive, the above would make for an interesting topic, in the appropriate forum. (It also would have been good advise for AC himself, perhaps. 😉 )

Seconded here... with the observation that it might be of value to explore the idea of the 'horizontal school' from the 'vertical school'?  🙂

Just gotta watch the wording. If you say the word "trap" people might freak out and miss the point.

OT: Welcome to LAShTAL asylum.

so much fail on the double post... an option to delete posts within about 5 min or so, would be cool
