The long-awaited deluxe edition of The Magical Revival will be delivered to me from the specialist binders by the end of May. They should all be despatched within a week of arrival here, and I will be emailing the customer as each copy is despatched.

Best wishes,

Michael.

Fantastic news Michael, I can't wait. I have a child-proof box awaiting it's arrival due to an inquisitive (nearly) 8 year old. Unfortunately, I can't quite get into it as yet...

Kind regards, and great news!

Craig.

Dwtw

Are the deluxe editions all sold out?
Your announcement makes it seem as if they are.

Yes, all copies are reserved at present. If the situation changes, I'll let you know.

If you're interested in the deluxes, it's worth joining the mailing list, since you'll have the opportunity of ordering one when the books first become available for ordering. If such elevation to the ranks of the elect interests you, email me at starfire.books@btinternet.com.

Best wishes,

Michael.

The difference is essentially two-fold.

In the first place, as you suggest, the binding is finer. The boards are bound in paper - in this instance, a handmade Italian marbled paper - and there is a further quarter-binding of black goatskin around the spine. The spine of the book-block is finished top and bottom with a tail band, the book is protected with the standard dustjacket, and the whole is enclosed in a slipcase.

The deluxes come in an edition of 118 copies, each with a tipped-in limitation page which has a faint background image, an explanation of the limitation number, and is individually numbered and signed by Kenneth and Steffi Grant.

Best wishes,

Michael.

The deluxes were delivered a few minutes ago. The binders have done a fine job. The marbled paper covering the boards looks entrancing. I'll be despatching copies next week.

Must dash. My wife is taking me out for a slap-up lunch at Mrs Miggin's Pie Shop, since it's my birthday.

Best wishes,

Michael.

Happy birthday Michael,
Look out for Mrs Miggins "codlings", they are delicious.
Looking forward to receiving said edition of book mightily, I suppose this will call for a third reading.
Kind regards,

Cheers Mick! Here's a poem for you! 🙂

“Sun the First"

by Odysseas Elytis

Part IX

The garden was entering the sea
Dark carnation promontory
Your hand was leaving with the water
To strew the sea as bridal bed
Your hand was opening the sky.

Angels with eleven swords
Were floating by your name
Cutting through the blossoming waves
The white sails were listing down
In gust after northeastern gust.

With white rosethorns
You were sewing bows of expectation
For the hair of your love’s hills
You were saying: Haircomber of light
She is a spring of earth who’s having fun.

Thief arrow scandal of laughter
Granddaughter of old lady sunshine
Through the trees you were teasing the roots
You were opening funnels of water
Knocking off jujubes of forgetfulness.
Of otherwise at night with prodigal violins
In half-ruined mills
You were talking secretly with a witch
You were hiding a grace in your bosom
Which was the moon itself.

Moon here moon there
Enigma read by the sea
For your own sake
The garden was entering the sea
Dark carnation promontory.

After much to-ing and a fro-ing back and forth to my post depot after missing the mail, I'm incredibly happy to say that I now have my copy, and may I say what a beautiful job has been done! Wonderful, many thanks Michael, the marbled boards and quarter leather are stunning, the tipped in limitation page intriguing, and the overall quality of the book fantastic. I'm incredibly happy with it, and both Starfire and the specialist binders have done a wonderful job! Many thanks again.

Kind regards,

Craig.

Many thanks for your appreciative remarks. In particular, I was glad that the marbled paper covering the boards turned out so well. This was a handmade paper, and as with all handmade papers the shades vary to some degree from one batch to the next. So, having seen a sample in Falkners, having fallen in love with it, and having ordered a batch for the deluxes, there was a certain amount of "fingers crossed".

Some have asked about the liimitation number, 118. The Starfire deluxe limitations are chosen on the basis of gematrical correspondences, and in this case it was PLCh, 'to pass, renew, change'. Seemed appropriate for The Magical Revival, the more so for its republication.

Best wishes,

Michael.
