Searching the Forums
A statement by Paul about the wealth of knowledge hidden in the old threads on the forum for the last decade has been ringing in my ears for some days.
I decided to try and see what nuggets I can dig up but the search is not working very well for me. I tried typing in LAM but it is not showing just posts with LAM it is also showing posts with lamb, lame, etc. Then I tried with quotes: "LAM" but that didn't fix the issue.
Does anyone know any computer-fu to type in, to find a specific word, and not a set of characters that may be inside other words?
Try searching " LAM " - that is with spaces between LAM and the quotes. I get 370 results which seems reasonable over posts going back years.
Sorry for the second post, but you can possibly narrow searches using something like this for example (with apologies to Michael but I thought there would be a good chance he'd commented on LAM somewhere)...
" LAM " " Staley "
This has spaces between term and quotes and brings back 16 results.
LAM Staley without any quotes on the other hand returns 146 results.
I'm on it. 🙂 I have been playing with options to extend our search system. That's why the site may have been unresponsive some 10 minutes ago - sorry. I had to create search index again. As jdes said, narrowing search should work better now. Wordpress has a very awful search system(they know it and apparently have no intention of doing something about it) so I have to "hack" their system to make it work better. I will continue working on it later today and tomorrow will we get a better search system.
That is extremely helpful, thank you both!
