Yes. One had to "toast" (burn) the banana peel - then scrape the black carbonized inner lining of the peel into a pipe or roll it up in a cigarette paper. We tried it ... it did absolutely nothing. We didn't try the Nutmeg, because we were forewarned and didn't want to have to repair the walls ... and the heads ;D

Never tried the banana peel but way back in my youth I did try the nutmeg. Ate a spoon full or two if I remember right. Experienced extreme nausea and the distinct feeling that a camel had crapped down my throat. 😮 Not recommended.

Someone snorted nutmeg and got quite a strange uncomfortable rush and hallucinated little kittens in their peripherals.

If anyone's keeping score: It seems like Nutmeg and Bananas are not in the front running. Ayahuasca plus "Shrubs" is being considered for treating depression. "Ecstasy" has recently been adopted by some US Govt agency for treating PTSD.

Bananas and Nutmeg are not illegal (because they don't do anything) and so you may do as you please, desire or Wilt. Ayahuasca is legal in the US (because it doesn't do anything by itself) and the associated DMT-bearing "shrubs" (usually not named, but they can be identified by google research) don't seem to be illegal, but I don't really know. And XTC is definitely off-limits unless you're a govt agency with special permission.

So, to be (legally) safe, you can choose between Nutmeg and baked Banana peel. To be (mentally) safe, you better forget the whole deal >:(, unless you're depressed and can qualify for the "official" doses in the cited study.

Nutmeg will definitely do something if you take a large enough dose. https://www.erowid.org/plants/nutmeg/nutmeg_faq.shtml

It's a deliriant, not a hallucinogen; I wouldn't recommend it. Side effects include "dizziness, flushes, dry mouth, accelerated heartbeat, temporary constipation and difficulty in urination, nausea, and panic".
