The current issue of Agapé - see http://www.lashtal.com/nuke/Article1178.phtml - includes exciting news of progress in the publishing plans of the OTO:

1. The unabridged Confessions of Aleister Crowley in a definitive, unexpurgated six-volume edition, with an additional volume of editorial
material. This project is currently in proofreading for Volume 5, currently at about 2,000 pages. It is being done in the original style (font and size) specified by Crowley, and will include Liber AL in color in Volume 3.

2. The complete Crowley diaries from 1896 to 1947. This project is 95% complete in first proofs, currently also at about 2,000 pages.

3. A definitive edition of Magick Without Tears. Frater Shiva of O.T.O. Australia is editing this project. Four sets of typescript are being compared to ensure that the final version specified by Crowley will be published.

Nothing that hasn't been announced already on this site, but a useful update on progress... And I'm very pleased to see the impending publication of Liber AL in colour.

Three very labor-intensive and time consuming projects that should shed much easily accessible light on misunderstandings still lingering regarding AC and Thelema, often festering still in these very forums and other contemporary Thelemic gathering places. Kudos to OTO.

93 folks!

This looks tasty, six volumes of the Confessions, the complete diaries plus the new edition of Magick Without Years. Im salivating in anticipation here, and agreed with Camlion, much kudos to the OTO for this.

Yes, yes, and yes. All three of these are important and amazing undertakings. I hope even the naysayers of the 'Caliphate' can admit the awesomeness of this.

I also am looking pretty much forward for receiving these important items of the very utmost profundity and think they will be of the Greatest Importance to every Thelemite.

Though admittedly a useful device to frighten the children, surely such wicked people do not really exist?

Undoubtedly it will be good to have these publications. However, perhaps "awesomeness" is a tad overstated.

Best wishes,

Michael.

Does anyone know if that means Confessions will be 6 seperate books or one massive tome? Same with the diaries? If so... my wallet will break.

As these works should hopefully aid in clarifying what AC really did, said and thought relating to various matters, and aid in dispelling some of the ever-recycling misrepresentations of those, they will be well worth the price, no matter what it is. 😀

They do exist. I know from experience, although I dont insist on you believing me.

Although I could imagine open perusing of his diaries creating new problems for his image, even things that arent misrepresentations.

Both releases sound very nice. Seems like the past few decades of mad manuscript collecting may soon benefit us all in some little way.

As for Crowley's reputation why be so concerned with it? I cannot remember the last time I felt compelled to defend A.C. to someone who had a nagative view of him. Thats just me though...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to yet another huge book purchase : )

Anyone with a wallet less capacious than an elephant's scrotum will doubtless struggle with this labour of love, but the production costs will be high and I don't imagine the edition will break into the best-seller lists, thus rendering irrelevant the usual economies of scale.

Best find a ready market for your wife and children now. Does your grandmother really need that skin on her back? Ponder the joys of an empty stomach.

Yours in the throes of impending destitution,

Michael.

Dunno... page 251-252 of the Magical Record of the Beast 666?

Can you really not think of things in his diaries that people would find new offensive?
