Never get weary
yet
Cause we pass on through much temptation
Walk through the valley of shadow
Tribulation may come
Dog a nyam dog
Weaping and wailing and gnashing of teeth
Never get weary
Nuff nuff…

Yes you, Mr. Politician
We're not blind, we seeing you
You use the people's misery for your prey
And you use war to be a business
Now I want you to deal with something now in the new millenium
How long this a go continue?
And how long you believe you ago last?
wonder politician

no peace inna this land
Drive them 'way

no peace down a yard,
A two a dem
Run Dem ‘ah way

Run a Dem…
a go

I think this is a first- no one has posted anything i actually hate- perhaps i am mellowing in my old age?

The Big Data song was nice, if just so unrelentingly soft- what is wrong with the youth of today?

I wonder how large a demographic ex-Earth Crisis fans/current climate change deniers may be?

As always, Tiger can DJ my parties any time.

My Saturday contributions: an ode to gang violence, "Wolfpack" (1983), by Boston straight-edgers D.Y.S. ("Divison of Youth Services"/"Dick Your Sister"/singer's initials). Have fought most of this band when Boston crew would come down to NYC to fuck up our shows- good times.

https://youtu.be/NPJGqI4tXYY

And, having been following UK politics a bit, couldn't help noticing Her Royalness looked a bit upset, like a hostage reading a note at gunpoint, at the recent Queen's Speech. A possible remedy is suggested by the immortal "Chalice In The Palace", by U-Roy (1975).

Cymande - Dove

Comment on ytube from one "Greenwing311 Bird":

"This takes me back to the early 70's NYC. My childhood, good memories for a halfblood!"

What does the term "halfblood" refer to in this context, who would be called a "halfblood", or who would call themselves a "halfblood", in early 70's NYC?

Based on the song, and as a late '70s NYer who hung out there a lot in the early '70 before i moved there, "half-African American/Black person" is most likely what's meant.

Listening to show of jazz drumming god Gene Krupa on NYC's WKCR: wkcr.org, click listen at right.

This I can engage. :p

I prefer not to refer to any group as a monolith and I don't believe that you want to either. It's just a convenience for the point without getting pedantic, and a liberty I will take too.

One of the things youth find tedious about hard music is the angsty nature. It appears emotionally unbalanced and immature to them. Because of Boomer and X parents they know angst since they were first able to identify it and picked up the cynicism as preschoolers.

Another is the hard has been sublimated into the occult virtue of the soft. The song is about the surveilence state and a hard subject.

The slow blade penetrates the shield.

Watch the official video for Dangerous. I was just reminded of a bit of trivia: the band made a promo website where the shoes in the video were selling for $666.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8b4xYbEugo

Getting back to this thing you call softness, it also relates to a new understanding and expression of masculinity.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQeg3dd-XM0

Youth are more sensitive emotionally and intellectually. They are developing and living the ideas established for them as a foundation to launch their self-actualization. They take what they find appealing and constructive in the expression of music to bring forward to their generation and their children.

Or, if this is all nonsense to you, maybe you'll understand something a bit more dense.
Let the kids have their music, Mabel. They don't need to justify it to you.

“ You won't see us on the TV, you won't read it in the news feed
But the time it come, Change keeps beating like a Drum
Cause The People have the Power, They keep Waking by the hour

And the Youth them see so they're breaking Free from your mental slavery
Generations will Rize, Governments they will fall
We're the only ones who will carry us through it all
If the words they are clear and the actions are strong
Oh my People We can't go wrong… so hold on “
Hold on
Hold on
Hold on
Staring down their lie
will you fight on your feet or live pon ur knees…? "

I am a youngster, I am only 36. But most of the music I listen to is hard.

Hope I haven't posted this already. It's great

https://youtu.be/oMamBKqz_8U

In regards to 'a new idea of masculinity' I think that that kind of thing, esp. in the teen to early twenties age group is turning men into effete, physically useless boys (soy boys as my wife says) who can't do anything practical for themselves, like change a tire, pay a bill, write a letter, schedule a doctor's appointment, etc etc.

This is just from anecdotes from the wife, as she has to deal with the general public. Luckily I do not.

It's all mommy and daddy that do it. Or they waste money hiring 'real' men to do the work.

PS to say, nothing wrong with being more emotionally in tune, and liking soft music too (I love Enya for chrissakes) BUT you see it taken TOO FAR (in certain populations) these other direction these days. In my opinion.

balance balance balance

This gives the impression you didn't actually watch the video posted in regards to my point. Watch it, then comment on it.
It's about youth learning practical skills like wildcrafting, metalworking, sailing, fishing, etc in concordance and equality without immature and unnecessary 'alpha' posturing. Look at your language. 'effete' and 'soyboy', judgemental and prejudicial. Even your conclusion on the video in regards to my point was obviously made without investigation and solely based upon a conclusion you already drew in your head.

In regards to this it should be added that the video is also about providing not only for oneself, but for others.

Agape, storge, philia, and eros are all in the song and video.

12 years ago in 2007 an astronomical phenomena appeared like a great eye in the constellation Perseus. The outburst of Comet Holmes.
It was for a time the largest object(including its atmosphere) in the solar system(larger than the Sun).
Since I'm the only person that appears to make any mention of any occult significance connected to it it appears it's safe to say now that it was all about me unless someone else speaks up.

It connects to a story that goes along with the following picture.

A fascinating tale. Not only in regards to myself. There is also the intent of the work, what actually occurred and subsequent results to the 'lodge' involved with this egregore possessed.
While I'm now inclined to believe it was simple incompetence and not malice intended against me(based off an account of one of the participants), at the time they appeared like Douglas, Arthwait &co. to my Grey/Iff.

Some of the songs that appeared for me at that time were like beacons drawing my attention. Oracular, instructive and a means to propel a message through the creative work of others and link and communicate to those of Black Lodge.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtgRvZ9eIqQ

This one today is relating to my ownership of the corpse of their 'egregore'.

I was referring to the big data song that ignant called soft, hence my comment:'Dangerous'. Yes I did hear it. And I don't hear anything about teaching or learning skills. Just running and hiding.

I now know you are currently referencing the Appalachian one which I just watched and it seems like a nice holiday, sailing and fishing, flower picking. Then giving the fruits of your labour to your neighbor etc.

Your music video still doesn't change my opinion on what I and others have witnessed in this new more entitled and soft generation. Luckily its not a majority, but its more than it was.

You can label it in currently en vogue 'occulture' terms like Eros, Agape (yes I am aware of the meaning and age of the terms) etc, (the actions in the video) but I think you are projecting what you want things to mean, onto what they don't actually mean.

The Android lust ones were okay. I sorta liked them.

I think this is a better sounding version with more emotion using a similar kind of timbre/sound palette:

Dangerous was about the surveillance state. You were looking at the wrong song in regards to that aspect of teaching and learning.
It could be that the formatting made it difficult for you to make the connection. I could look at it again to see if I could have been more explicit.

Given your vulnerability to ideas outside your accepted norms and the avoidance techniques like blame shifting and strawmanning you've displayed @christibrany you may want to do some self-reflection on your own entrenchment.

Shikhee is obviously inspired by the sound of artists like NIN and Skinny Puppy.

The appropriateness of the song wasn't only the emotive, it's also the message of the lyrics from the place of that artist in context to specific circumstances.

You are well trained in debate and being politically correct I see. No worries, I don't take it personally when someone basically calls me stupid and brain washed, using fancy words. I do what I will, and what I want. I am not entrenched into any particular thought or sides. I just have my own opinions and am not afraid to put them in a public forum. You may want to step off your high horse and learn to coexist with people of differing ideas.

Talking with you, Chris reminds me of a song I still like from the old days.

Hearing only what you want to hear
and knowing only what you heard

Or in your case, reading only what you want to read and only knowing what you read.

There you go, calling me stupid again.
I will say it again, you may want to step off your high horse and learn to accept that differing opinions exist and they won't be changing anytime soon despite your terminology and attempts to brow beat other people with malice. Mal. 🙂

Anyway back to music.

Metallica is okay. Black album , Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning. Lars has always been terrible though.

Why are you being antagonistic, mal? Chris and i may joust about politics, but manage to discuss music with out anyone mounting any high horses.

the first Android Lust song was pretty good, especially the intro, nice early Human League vibe there; less enamored of the second one.

I hope you are joking about a desire to "link and communicate to those of Black Lodge"; if not, be careful.

A song i adore, by one guy i adore (Johnny Cash), and one i admire and often like a lot (Bob Dylan):

Who would be on the high horse?
Do you need to have yourself quoted to you to remember what you said about electronic music and the qualities of those that listen to it?
I just don't feel like digging through pages of posts for you old posts. If someone is interested they can look in thread, however to evaluate the quality of your honesty.

But I can tell you're trolling so I'll let it go after this as arguing with you is a waste of time as you argue in bad faith and dishonestly represent yourself and others.

Since this is on the page however ...

I'm not projecting. lol
That could be labeled a high horse accusation right there, if I were to waste others time bickering about this. lol
No doubt, you're not done bickering though, ignant.

But, you're back on ignore to spare others pain. :p

Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on

Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't you, forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't you, forget about me

Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Will you recognize me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh woh

Don't you try and pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security

I did a quick review of your posts, Mal and a good majority of the recent ones, if they're not blatantly in your face egotistic, higher than thou in tone, a good lot of them were antagonistic, spoken from a position of 'being on a high horse' and very passive aggressive, don't hurt me, YOURE WRONG!

Ignoring most of the good 3 or 4 gems in this thread alone, calling anyone who disagrees with your opinion of the state of things, as being pretty much an idiot, who never 'gets it' here are some other zingers. Yes it is a slow work day:

Just now to @ignant

RE 'old codgers' on these forums 'lol. That’s a funny way to say they smell of piss.
It’s true their stench does drive users away. At least it’s something that new users won’t to worry about enduring temporarily. ' I believe your sic was more like 'don't worry they will die soon.'

RE your 'thelemic candidate' Marianne Williamson
'I’ll post just a couple more in depth vids and some directly relevant quotes with some Thelemic commentary that I’ve been pondering in one more post, maybe. Then let it rest unless someone wants to talk about it.
Cool?
If not, shame the forum doesn’t have an ignore feature for Shiva. '

I noticed that most of them are from the last couple months and prior to that you were much more open to other ideas, and less of a jerk. Perhaps something happened lately?

Also you can see a pattern; once you realise you can't convert someone to 'your side' you insult them vaguely, and then put them on so-called 'ignore' and run away.

The very issues you labelled me as having 'avoidance' and 'entrenchment'

I have merely been expressing my opinion and backing it up with examples of why I think the way I do.
You on the other hand have been the one avoiding and being 'on top'

Just sayin'

Ignant and the mature guys and I will agree to disagree. We don't need to be asshats and avoidant about it.

Simple Minds? Liked 'em better before the name change, back when they were Johnny & The Self-Abusers.

I bet i now know what you're all upset about. i had forgotten who you are, since your posts, and your taste in music, are so uninteresting- a while back i said to you

Based on your taste in music, not-even-up-to-amateur psychologizing, and very uninformed and silly politics, you probably carry around a water-bottle and don’t eat meat, and very likely don’t even eat cheese.

which i will bet anything is all true.

Saw them both live for the first time this last year.

I'm sorry I saw a priest being beaten
and I made a wish
but I'm just a pitiful anonymous
you're just a copy of an imitation'

The Shaggs are musical goddesses.

It is true that they were very eccentric, and that their music is unusual. The fact is, they could play these songs exactly the same way every time, or their dad would beat them. He was sure they were going to make him rich.

You can certainly reasonably say that they have no idea how to play rock music, or even how to play music, but what you are hearing is not incompetence, it is competence in some other sphere. Their chops are not normal chops, but no one has ever done better than the Wiggins sisters at playing the Shaggs' music.

https://youtu.be/by3oXMDl4dE

Like early Beefheart, easily dismissable, but trying to cover these songs, or Trout Mask Replica songs, has humbled many. Zappa said they were better than the Beatles.

And Now for Something Completely Different: Van Dyke Parks

Clang of The Yankee Reaper (1975), the first song

"Sun in the moonlight, in the moonlight..."

https://youtu.be/2VvsWDjZvlc

Jump! (1982), Many a Mile to Go, the last song on the side A

"Mine is but to do or die
And never want for the reason why
We jes set sail up into the sky
To me it seem like flying"

(In VDP's original spelling, I still have the album/vinyl)

Continuing unabated with this page of musicians, music and metaphor which are openly displaying or strongly suggesting Thelema:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VBc4OajRUM

This night is filled with the cries
Of dispossessed children in search of paradise
A sign of unresolved ambition
Drives the pinwheel on and on

I am disabled by fears
Concerning which course to take
When memory bears witness to
The innocents consumed in dying rage

The way lies through our love
There can be no other means to the end
Or keys to my heart you will never find
You will never find

The lyrics to this DCD song are like a bodhisattva's vision.

There is the dove, and there is the serpent.
