😊
This is the most "convincing" example of numerology that I have discovered, and using the simple A=1, B=2, C=3 method. I did a quick web search and couldn't find it so this may be a Lashtal exclusive.
Thoth is fairly well known here I think, as well as any other attributes he may have he's the Moon God. I made a post on another thread about the Sun/Moon distances etc. The average distance of the Moon from Earth is 384,400 km.
T = 20, H = 8, O = 15, T = 20, H = 8
20 * 8 * 15 * 20 * 8 = 384000
just 400 off from the "official" figure!
A nice coincidence, or ... or ...Â
Thoth's name is somehow "uncreated" (outside space/time) and there is something to this numerology stuff after all.
😊
And the moon used to be closer to the earth in the past. It is moving away at a rate of about 4 cm/yr. So it was 400 km closer a mere 10,000,000 years ago.
And 402 km closer (wikipedia gives 384,402 km as the earth/moon distance) only 10,050,000 years ago. Of course, they could not measure things as precisely, back then in 10,047,980 BC, as we can now.
It is well known that the ancient Egyptians used the metric system.
Thoth's name is somehow "uncreated" (outside space/time)
Thoth was not his name. It's a garbled rendering of his actual designation.
Â
Ta-hoo-tee
Tahuti
T'ahawti
Â
Â
Th-O-Th = 88 (gold bricks)
T-H-U-T-I = 30 (aethyrs)
Lots of wiggle room in the variations on this dude's god's name.
Â
Those facts are all obviously the case. I'm talking about "Thoth" being something outside space/time that's relevant to us now, not as an ancient Egyptian "museum piece". I'm not so new-age as to believe this is literally true, its a "fun" coincidence which I can look at humorously.
Â
Thoth was not his name. It's a garbled rendering of his actual designation.
Its his name now. 😉 No one will ever find his "actual designation" again. "Thoth" is his accepted name now in our language ("the English Alphabet"), I believe "He" is relevant to us now and wants to be known and is willing to relate to us in terms that are relevant to us now.
Â
Ta-hoo-tee, Tahuti, T'ahawti
Those are good too, but "Thoth" is the most common in English. I've done some "experiments" with other renderings:
Tahuti:Â 20*1*8*21*20*9 = 604800, number of seconds in a week.
Personally I just like "Thoth" the best. Its how I first knew about "him", and it seems if you reach out sincerely with whatever name you prefer, he "replies". 😊Â
Â
do y'all say 'th-awth' or 'th-ohth'/thoath? Â
Thoth" being something outside space/time that's relevant to us now
Thoth is attributed to Chokmah. Forget his attribution to Hod, he sends his graduate student, Anubis, to handle the limbic mind. Chokmah is generally considered outside space/time. Everybody has this potential in their brain, but connecting the circuits and "activating" Chokmah is The Great Task.
Although one may start connecting the circuits at any level, The Path usually begins with Asana and Banishing ... on the physical plane.
Thoth" is his accepted name now in our language
Okay. Here-and-Now QBL it is. I am a great fan of the English QBL, probably because that's my native language.
Â
Okay. Here-and-Now QBL it is.
I thinks its all good as long as the QBList is sincere. If Hebrew makes sense then Hebrew's good. No reason not to use both.
I mainly threw this post out because there's been some recent discussion on English QBL, and there were some interesting results with plain old A=1. Not every one is keen on the A=0 approach I usually go for, so this one is my favourite example of an A=1 that I found as a "happy accident". 🙂
Â
do y'all say 'th-awth' or 'th-ohth'/thoath?Â
Again, I'd say the "sincerity" is more important, any one which makes the most sense.
There might be some confusion here with US/Brit accents. I've noticed that some of your (US) accents have lost the "pure" "O" sound in some words where it sounds more like "ah" or "owe" whereas you still seem to have it in words like "Order" and "hOrse" etc (I'm mainly used to hearing the "generic US TV-accent").
Personally, I say it the way it seemed to me when I first read it:
TH as in THought, O as in shOrt and the same TH again. For me the "TH" is relevant as it sounds "English". I've noticed pronounciation like "Thot", "Tot" etc or ones with extra vowels like "Tehuti". I just like the plain "Thoth".
I've noticed that some of your (US) accents have lost the "pure" "O" sound in some words
Maybe you missed it a few months ago. It has been determined that all Americans living west of the Appalachian Mountain Range (East Coast of USA) speaks the Queen's English of 1600, Shakespeare, and Her Majesty, more "purely" than the Brits, who started drawling words out about the same time (1600s). See: BBC.
Â
Sorry if saying "pure" sounded at all snobbish, that wasn't my intention. Myself, I am not a "proper" Brit but a Finnish/British "mongrel". 🙂Â
There are many accents here that you probably never hear in the US, some of them very far from the "Queen's" English, they all have their own charm as do the US accents I've heard. I wouldn't want to change them at all.
I was just attempting to communicate the "O" sound for clarity, and I still seem to hear this "pure" O in US words where the O is followed by R.
Â
I am not a "proper" Brit but a Finnish/British "mongrel".
Aha! That will be noted in your record.
English is flexible in its pronunciations of O and other letters. That's why it's hard to learn as a second language. Complex. Exceeded in complexity only by Chinese.
Â

Tell me about it. 🙄 With "O" I'm being very specific though:

You can hear the sound on that page.
Â
Here's an idea: make a Gematria for the "International Phonetic Alphabet", every single symbol. 🙂Â
I just knew someone was going to take it as a "Limeys vs Yanks" thing when I was writing that and put "pure" in quotes. 🙂Â
It seemed relevant to be specific about it as there have been mentions of "Aum" and "Om" and their different pronunciations. Different accents add another level of confusion.
But from this we got to something important: "The Other Prophet" (you may "get" this if you have read this far 😉 ). I have mentioned him by name now on this forum. With talk of "the End" coming soon, he may be another piece of the puzzle.
In case you don't get it yet I will spell it for to you.
English is my first language though, along with my now rather "rusty" Finnish. Posted by: @shivaEnglish is flexible in its pronunciations of O and other letters

Yes....this has been part of an intuitive approach for many for years amongst some...and is actually a key!

I don't think the ancient Egyptians used the metric system. Nor did they use the name Thoth.
Nor did they use the English alphabet.
But IF they did use the metric system, and the name THOTH, and the English alphabet, they still got it wrong, by 400+Km.
It's a little bit weak, in my opinion. Is that really the best example of numerology ever?
I refer you to my first reply above. I think I gave a fairly good explanation as to how I see it. The ancient Egyptian "Thoth" was what he was. If "he" is to have any relevance today it makes sense to use the concepts we have now that relate to "wisdom", and so the metric system and his modern name "Thoth" using "the English Alphabet".
Who are we to say it wasn't through the randomness of the development of language and the alphabet, he formed the name "Thoth" for himself, outside of space and time. 😉
As to the "missing" 400km, maybe it "encodes" another mystery. The diameter of the Sun is almost exactly 400 (400.86926) times that of the Moon.
But I agree, its probably sensible to be skeptical with these things, there being a lot of "new-age nonsense" around (and so my "pompous" sounding title for this thread, intended humorously).
and so the metric system and his modern name "Thoth" using "the English Alphabet"
Okay, you've made your point about "Thoth," but how does the metric system apply? I mean you Brits use it, but we Yanks don't, except in chemistry and medicine. So it's not a "universal" English language tool ... yet.
Who are we to say it wasn't ...
We are the boys of LAShTAL U.
We don't smoke and we don't chew.
And we don't go with girls that do
Â
Â
SI units would be "universal" I guess.
These aren't some kind of "commandments" of course. Its all down to the individual and what's relevant to them. Imperial is the traditional system here (UK) and is still used a lot.
238,856 miles, just looked it up.
I don't have all the answers, just throwing this little coincidence out there in case it makes sense to anyone. If others think its nonsense, that's very sensible and normal, and that's fine too.
SI units would be "universal" I guess.
What is an "SI?" I don't read or speak nerd Qabalah very well. You've hear the old saying, "Let me spell it out for you" ? Please do.
238,856 miles, just looked it up.
238856 miles from where to where? No context is given.
Â
SI units would be "universal" I guess.
What is an "SI?"
SI is "Systeme International", French for "International System", aka the Metric System.
As Shiva's incomprehension illustrates, systems of measurement are cultural matters, and no system can claim to be universal, especially across time.
In what music business contracts call "ROW" (the "Rest Of [The] World" that is not the USA), you use the heathen Metric System, which makes the Baby Jeebus cry.
In God's Country, we use the divinely-approved "US Customary System" (and not the British "Imperial System"), which makes Jehovah smile upon us, and allows proverbs like "Hard by the yard, but a cinch by the inch."
But Thoth aka Tahuti is an Ancient Egyptian deity, who will most likely peck out the eyes of anyone doing Qabalah on his name seeking correlations in either SI or US Customary units. Those ibis beaks are pointy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Egyptian_units_of_measurement
no system can claim to be universal, especially across time.
Inserted herewith as a trivial note, the cun system is absolutely universal, because it applies to each individual, individually.
A cun is an "osteo-inch" and it it used to locate acupoints. It is pretty much an "inch," but a shorter person would be sightly less than an inch. An easy way for you (anyone) is to measure the distance across your second row of knuckle on your hand. That is "your" three (3) cun measurement, and it can be used to find (by measuring from fixed locations) any points.
Example: Ren 6. Chinese Name: Qihai (English translation: Sea of Qi). Location: On the anterior median line of the lower abdomen, 1.5 cun below the umbilicus.
Not that this has any merit in relation to our Qabalistic assessments.
Â
I am Eternal; therefore all things are as my designs; therefore
do all things obey my Word.
Therefore do Thou come forth unto me from Thine abode in
the Silence: Unutterable Wisdom! All-Light! All-Power!
Thoth! Hermes! Mercury! Odin!
By whatever name I call Thee, Thou art still nameless to
Eternity: Come Thou forth, I say, and aid and guard me in this
work of Art.
(Yup, its art alright, "Number-Art"!)
Â
Some of his epithets which seem relevant:
"the One who Made Calculations Concerning the Heavens, the Stars and the Earth"
"the one who Measured out the Heavens and Planned the Earth"
Â
And right now, I like this one:
"Who comes to him that calls Him"
Â
I may as well spam this "discovery" here too as I've already spammed it in a couple other threads:
Base 26 number: "THOTH" = decimal number "8815541"
8815541 modulo 666 = 365
(in other words, that number divided by 666 gives 365 as a remainder)
Thoth is the "inventor" of the 365 day calendar. In the myth, the year was 360 days. He gambles with Khonsu (the Moon) for the extra 5 days so that Nut (the original Nuit) can give birth to 5 gods on those days (Osiris, Isis, etc.).
666 represents the Sun. So we have this Astrology/Astronomy stuff going on here, though I'm not smart enough to figure it all out. Another one of his epithets is:
"the Reckoner of Time and of Seasons"
Ta-hoo-tee
Tahuti
T'ahawti
Â
Â
Don't forget Tetu.Â

Yes! I thought I was alone in putting Thoth in Chockmah, him in Hod makes no sense and never has.
777 lists Thoth at Hod and Chokmah. But both spheres also have other deities listed alongside him.
Anubis is also listed at Hod. The myths tell us that Anubis, the son of Nephthys and Osiris, was adopted by Thoth and trained in mortuary science and navigation of mazes (guiding).
We can always equate Hod with Anubis (the limbic mind) and Thoth (the Universal mind) at Chokmah, and simply recognize the existence of a higher and lower mind.
Since it was Thoth who compiled all the data for medicine, magic, and measurement, we can see how his "lists" might lead to an attribution at Hod, but Hod is not the permanent residence of the bird-head. He assigns the "lists" to Anubis, putting him in charge of the library at Hod.

@duck Check out Crowley's treatise on Egyptian Tarot: The Book of Tahuti 🙄Â
But ain't that The Book of "Thoth" though? (thougth?) 🙄Â

I know, and who on earth is the author of this preposterous book, "Crowley" and what possible relevance could he have to this forum?
@duck In answer to your question, which I posted earlier than you and restate for approval seeking,
[project inadequacies][self-aggrandizing][name drop]. [name drop] and I once spent an afternoon talking, it was a great conversation. Oh, and [name drop] once helped my grandma cross the street.
