Trance of Sorrow and the Tree of Life

Do what thou wilt.

I was wondering if certain trances and visions are experienced only in specific sephira(s) excluding others? Or are they experienced almost simultaneously, as afterglows and reflections when you're in another one? 

Assuming so...

Where does that put the Trance of Sorrow on the Tree? I'm thinking it's either Yesod or Da'ath, I'm really not quite versed in this, so please correct me.

Sorrow is a manifestation of Binah, but it is only a cloak or a veil. The sword (mind) does not fit well at Binah ... that sphere being non-mental. People who check in to the Binah Hotel are required to check their ego in at the mental hatcheck booth. Those who attempt to keep their mind will experience nothing more than sadness.

The concept or state of sorrow and sadness (melancholia)(melan = "black", cholia = "gall bladder condition") is examined rather closely in Liber AL.

The cure for melancholia, the "black mood," is found in The Universal Joke, which may be examined by the mind in Liber 333, Ch 37, where it starts out with this astounding axiom ...

Hmm, I can imagine Binah resulting in that if it was experienced without the balance of Chokmah for sure. But for some reason and my personal interpretation of Thelema and Crowley's writings in general, I feel such trance or state is experienced or concentrated in the lower nodes, I don't believe anyone who beheld or came close to BABALON would experience sorrow.

To me sorrow is the ultimate disassociation, and the vision of Yesod is commonly called "the machinary of the universe", in contrast to the vision of Tiphareth which is "the harmony of things", and this again is tested in the ordeal of Da'ath in my opinion.

Does that compliment what you said or not?

That is correct, when taking an overview (as in becoming one with Atma, the universal self), but for us individual "I Am" packets of sentience, Chokmah is not the issue or the source of sorrow. The "balance" you posit is a perfect balance of the Ego. When anything is perfectly balanced, the net result is Zero ... and this is the admission price to Binah.

Of course, every one's going to rush out and proclaim "I surrender," with at least one eye on Binah. They may even be able to attain to Binah, on a temporary basis, through years of meditation and squabbling on LAShTAL, or through Pharmaceutical Libation in a few hours. One will then be returned to "normal" reinforced by having taken the ride. All kinds of sorrow, despair, physical pain, embarrassment, fear, confrontation, insight, and illumination will manifest. There is no map or practice that governs the approach to Binah. Except for the raid procession of opposites as they synthesize, cancel, and cease to exist.

aziz: Does that compliment what you said or not?

Your description definitely sounds like a completed path-working of Zain. Moving from Tiphareth to Binah, all opposites must be reconciled - sun and moon, ida and pingala, left and right brain, all dualistic notions, etc. This is the opposite of the way that unity descends into the plane of name and form from above the abyss towards a differentiation between me(subject, ego, etc.) and everything else(object).
