For those of you who like metal music, of the doom and death variety, this band is quite good.
I include them here because the song titles and lyrics are obviously influenced by Thelema and Crowley:
First album is called Eparistera Daimones [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eparistera_Daimones ] which we all know from the Star Ruby.
Includes such songs as: Goetia ' Goetia Satan, savior, father Lord, constructor of my world Master, destroyer, redeemer Guide me, etc...'
The recent, second album Melana Chasmata [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melana_Chasmata ] has a track called 'Boleskine House' and the album got amazing reviews; especially for fans of dark ambient (Lustmord etc).

Not really sure how 'Thelemic' Thomas Gabriel Fischer really is, but he is using the themes in his art.

I love Akercocke! One of the best metal bands on the planet. Every album, including the latest, is out of this world. Perhaps not for the casual metal listener though as they're uncompromisingly extreme in the complexity of their sound & lyrical content. As for Triptykon I've been championing them & Celtic Frost on our beloved site going a long way back to a limited response... so I'm glad to see that there are others who share my passion for this music! As for the writer & dominant personality of the above 2 bands (& Hellhammer too, making the triptych) & his relationship towards Thelemic culture: He is a part of it. He has certainly read works by & about Crowley. His concerts are the Ritual or 'Practice'. With many metal bands the influence of AC is nuanced, but in his case he links directly in song & album titles. He also uses a heptagram in his logo for Triptykon as well as old Celtic Frost merch. He may not be a member of any particular organization, but I'll wager that some of his friends are, & certainly some of his colleagues in the metal world are. The general theme & purpose of good hard rock & metal is a challenge to whoever thinks that they are in control of humanity, & AC was at the forefront of this in his day, It's like hand in glove for these musicians & they respect & are inspired by him. It's a beautiful thing.

It's certainly original yes i don't know all their albums I've just seen a few performances and videos here and there.

Ah yes, I've seen this one before & have watched it again."There has to be bounds on Freedom Of Speech"= hilarious! The host of the program himself is unable to keep it together & the boys in the band are amused by this. The hypocrisy of these 'christians' is, once again, plain for all to see. They need to feel that they're the dominant force in the world & to look down on others in judgment from their cloud of Righteousness, all the while promoting Love Thy Neighbor. The band deals in provocative content with the intention of exposing this blatant hypocrisy to an intelligent audience. Over a millenia of fear mongering & suppression, lies & distortion, leaves humanity with a curse. In their music you can hear these tactics thrown right back at them, & in that your liberation is at hand.

Well, Jesus' mom was not married to the putative father, the previously obscure tribal demon "YHVH". That makes him a bastard, and he was born in Nazareth; thus, a "bastard Nazarene". I am reminded of a Sunday school riddle: "Why did Jesus never shut the door? He was born in a barn".
I suppose the "rape" bit is perhaps not so nice. Some might prefer it to having their eyes pecked out by a hawk of course.

That vocal style invented by Midlands band Napalm Death I think. Only The Midlands, England could produce that. Portugal, Hollywood or Athens couldn't have produced that.

The roots of Black Sabbath are Tony Iommi working in a sheet metal factory in the smog infested 'dreary' cold bleak conditions of The Midlands. Sabbath are products of the heavily industrialized working class areas of the Midlands. From that to Hollywood, California and it's cocaine parties. Let me tell you something the UK is generally 'dreary' and Scandinavia is worse. Bleak, cold, windy and wet. Also Sabbath had occult overtones. As Los 8=3 said, people who feel 'powerless' have a tendency to turn to the occult.
America filtered that and we get the teeth-whitened big-haired big-smiling Bon Jovi and similarly Van fucking Halen ie the Beach Boys with guitars.... or buffoons on skateboards with long short pants.... but hey you wouldn't or couldn't describe them as 'dreary' could you?. I'm sure a lot of folk would describe Prokoviev, Sibelius and Bach as 'dreary'. The Norwegian black metallers were determined to take the Americanization out of their rock hence their remarkable lo-fi authenticity.

1) i think you have some mistaken ideas about America, if you imagine that very large parts of the US do not have weather so "leak, cold, windy and wet" it would make a Brit howl.
It ain't all Florida and southern California. We have no Gulf Stream to take away the bleakness in New England and upstate NY, the Pacific Northwest is pretty darn "leak, cold, windy and wet", and perhaps you have heard of Alaska?
As to "smog infested ‘dreary’" "heavily industrialized working class areas", we don't have any of those in the US of A, no-sirree-bob. It's nothing but "cocaine parties" in lovely, sunny garden spots like Northern New Jersey, Western Pennsylvania, Detroit, Michigan, and Gary, Indiana! Have you ever heard the term "Rust Belt"?

Swans, did you know that Gira's dad owned a factory in which one of his workers was father of The Beach Boys? The latter lost an eye in a sheet metal incident in that factory when his boys were toddlers I believe.

Anyway where did Warner grow up? Fucking Florida. He was a journalist for a rock magazine for a while before he put the glamour into Goth. Those videos must cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to make.
Anyway yes I know that some parts of the US and Canada are slammed by the Tundra and have vast steelwork areas but you get my point?
