This week we discuss: What exactly is the Left-Hand Path, can Dungeons and Dragon really turn you into a Satanist, Aleister Crowley’s influence on the Temple of Set, and much more.

Joining me in the SittingNow king’s chamber is Marck Satyr

the Left-hand Path ... an adventure into the world of Setians and Aleister Crowley’s Book of the Law.

I see the term "Left-hand Path" is up for review, discussion, and re-definition, again, after just a couple months?

Please correct me if I'm mistaken or have confused the personae, but isn't Mr Webb one of those fellows who has publickly claimed to be an Ipsissimus?

Ah, finally, we will get to the bottom of the left (sinster) hand side of The Temple. As I understand the mechanics and logistics, I will need to be connected (linked) into an audio broadcast circuit in order to find out what's really involved in this sinster-stuff. This is most unfortunate (for me) as I have this pesky hearing problem.

If anybody (who can hear) is able to identify the core definition(s) of Leftism (Sinsterism), please write it/them down in simple sentences and post it/them somewhere where I can visually see what is being proposed.

Of course, whatever you write can and will be used against you at the trial.

Yeah, he's the One. Kether. Standing by for any (visual) reports.

As recently previously stated - "Bootlikkers shall be smiled upon."

However, I cast no dispersions here, for (even) I have not previously noted the Lifestyles ...  pun, and I sit amused.

I suspect his definition would be similar to the one that I gave when I first started participating on this site.

Former high priest of the Temple of Set.  I've got most of his nonfiction books.

While I have enjoyed his books and found them very useful, that does not mean that I take everything he says and does as gospel.

Claiming Ipsissimus seems to have become a trend among Setians, and I personally find it a bit silly. It also struck me as silly that his "Word" is the same as Aquino's.

Well, yes, if someone's compass is not bent. I have my own definition. Several of them - drawn from different cultues and Crowleys. I merely ask the question of definition whenever it arises without self-descriptive attachments or footnotes.

Freaks bond with the polite society and status quo.

A few initiates may survive the shock to knock them out of the falsity of appearances and their colloquial trajectory which breaks them out of their conditioned cage to become more; some don't.

Thanks for the podcast lecture. I downloaded it and will burn it to a cd and listen to it next time i take a long drive. Looking forward to the Typhonian one. I wonder how the Typhonians and Setians get on, and/or interface.

This seems straightforward and accurate. Some get liberated, some remain stuck. A very deep philosophical concept that even simple-minded folks, like me, can understand.

You

Me? I saw my name mentioned as a fugitive from being found, and a [something] was mentioned, but Mr Sitting (or is it Mr Now?) has not directly contacted me, even though he has found me, but can't be sure because I put up the denial [?] shields.

Anyway, I don't do TV, audiocasts, or verbal interviews any more. As you well know, I can hear ... in person, barely but adequately.  But any electronic transmission is garble to my audio sensors.

I have been known to respond to written interview-type questions, in a written (digital) manner Why, I have even known questions to be answered here on LAShTAL, such as in The People vs Frater Shiva, as conducted by Ignant3x6 an Chief Inquisitor. But he wasn't rude or violent, like some drips can be. He simply wanted some specific answers about certain up-in-the-air incidents. Goodness, that was 14 years ago.

Aquino's and Webb's Word is Xeper.  The Temple recognizes a number of Words as they hold that one can make progress to the grade of Magus and still utter a Word, but that Word will be subordinate to the Word of the Aeon. An "Aeon enhancing Word" as some call it.

This is all in accord with The Scriptures, the dog-ma tic rules, ans so on. My first interrogation would be, "Okay, so what're the characteristics and the Word of the current Aeon thate are/is to be enhanced?

I mean, is this an Aeon of Horus thing, with Therion as the first Magus? That would be the Thelemic version.

In the Temple's paradigm, Aquino is the Magus of the Aeon of Set, and his Word is Xeper.  But he's considered the Second Beast, with Crowley acknowledged as the First Beast.

I see. This is shocking news. It might not even be "new," but it is to me. I feel a long retirement coming on, wherein I contemplate the reversal of concepts and a rearrange of my doilies.

Far be it from me to keep you from rearranging your doilies.

I will say that, while I find value in some of the Temple's ideas, I do not necessarily believe all of what they have to say, and that I have my own take on some of it.

Would it also shock you to know that there is a group within the Temple that dedicates itself to working primarily with Crowley's ideas?

No. People form groups within groups for all kinds of reasons or subconscious motivations I will skip the retirement for today, and the doilies can remain unarranged (deranged?), as I turn to the Great Mystery at the bottom of this pit.

Let me beat RTC to his answer by saying, "My vision of the Aeon of Horus is based upon The Legend of Horus and Set. I have a whole contemporary cosmology built up around what the folks behind the curtain have been doing while the Aeons get presented, with suitable illusion filters, to the mass public recepticles."

I will not republish my theorem here, right now, even though it is only a short paragraph and I have posted it a few times before. I think I will wait 'til March 31, so as to either steal thunder from Fool's Day, or to overshadow the rest of the year with the Esoteric Conspiracy Theory.

My question is (simply put) - What does Set have to do with this? (I have my own published viewpoint).

The temple has a number of groups, Orders, within it that are intended to explore different areas of magick.

As I have my own theories on different Magi, Words, and Currents claimed to be active in the world today.

Sounds perfect. 😀

My question is (simply put) - What does Set have to do with this? (I have my own published viewpoint).

Set represents the principle of Isolate Intelligence, ie sapience on an individual level, which is seen as distinct from "nature", is non-sapient consciousness, and is seen as the force that has gifted sapience to humanity in the form of the Black Flame.  Crowley is essentially seen as having made contact with but not fully manifested Set, with Aquino as the one who completed that task.

Xeper sound like a 1970's American made car....

See pg 13..

Why, thank you for the overview. What is that smell in the air? I can't tell if it's sulfur and brimstone, cow manure, or if my petrol tank is peeping. Since these are all explosive under the proper conditions, which are close at hand [Fool's Day, you know], I will not strike any matches or welding torches - I have quoted your [uncut] definition in full as it contains so many individual primers to tap and detonate, and I need the full scope before me as I avoid nit-picking.

Is it possible that we, being outside, and looking in, might have missed something? Gosh, folks who wrote about Solar Lodge got almost everything backwards.

The linked item from the lunatic Laroucheites certainly makes Aquino sound like a slimy character, but contains literally zero besides innuendo linking him, or anyone else, to "mass murder, torture, mind control etc...[or] Abu Ghraib [sic]".

And given that this document is produced by the Larouchites, i would take the few things actually about him with a shaker of salt, unless/until i saw actual documentary evidence, from some source not linked to a lunatic political cult that invented many of the conspiracy theories of the current Q Anon.

The late Lyndon Larouche's "political" views included the vital importance of tuning A above middle C to 432 Hz, rather than the conventional 440 Hz (he bought TV time to pitch this idea in 1987; i watched), that Queen Elizabeth II is the principal kingpin (queenpin?) of all drug dealing world-wide, and that all rock music is a psy-op against America run by UK intelligence (see link re concert A).

Oh, Sweet Damsel and the filthy mudslingers!  This is outrageous.

We'll have to wait for an insider to come out and write a true book, based on first-hand experience - Inside The Temple of Set - Outside [both] Normality and Thelema.

In your opinion, is Set some sort of a supreme deity? As in, sort of like YHVH won't tolerate any other of the elohim before him.

In my opnion, no, not at all.

The Temple's stance is essentially that Set is the only deity not made by humanity.

But also remember the explanation for the phrase "Prince of Darkness" that aligns with "Had! The manifestation of Nuit"?  That is part of it too.

Incidentally, there are at least 2 published commentaries on AL published by Temple members.

I see. Not by reading trashy novels or exposes written in libraries.

I try to avoid those except for for entertainment purposes.

Shiva might start out with noting the double post...but it would be nice to hear your response to his question!

@ignant666

Of course one can tune instruments to what ever frequency one might propose, but remember that 'the music died a long long time ago'... and those who actually understood the human voice, like Verdi, understood that A=432, is the tuning that corresponds to the actual registration zones of the various human voices, within the voice, to which thus with a full chorus, inclusive of all voices, that true orchestration is possible, and that beyond composition, it is cruel to force the voice into registrations that it can not sustain without the strings breaking....

Perhaps levitation of the Pentagon did not happen because the tuning was not based upon A=432

Yeah we know that it freaks you out that LaRouche was right, but then again the Queen and her privateers did love the Opium Wars, and probably were threatened by a new cure to addiction, which is the old cure, that Crowley summoned and put to paper in the Diary of a Drug Fiend, to be so attacked and censored by whom...

Yes i am sure that the Pentagon loved the fact that its intelligence officer Col. Michael Aquino, co-author of Mind Wars, would be involved with Satanism, with allegations of connections with pedophilia, which is par for the course for the Anglo-American murder machine now funding Nazi's in the Ukraine, along with US biowarfare labs all for the new pale riders....the Pentagon with a "Millions Dead" sign just like McDonald's.

Anyways hope you have luck with the seeds sprouting... what with the elite press warning of food shortages....Enjoy the new Holomodor....but hunger is just in one's mind, or a game of sociopathic murder that would only happen on a Hollywood movie screen...But not to worry... for the Horus Toy shall arrive, and its not fake meat!

An unusually ignorant and hateful post, even by your standards. Do you actually believe all this nonsense?

Not worth trying to correct the spew of falsehoods and poor reasoning contained therein, though blaming "Big Liz" for the Opium Wars, the second of which ended 66 years before she was born, is impressively unhinged even by nut-bar conspiracy-theory standards.

And no surprise to learn that you are a fan of Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Tough on you that the Russian army is so corrupt and incompetent that this effort by a Russian dictator to commit genocide in Ukraine is not going quite as well as Stalin's terror famine that killed millions in Ukraine (the Holodomor that you think is a good topic for attempts at jokes).

The double post was a glitch. Notice that both are identical?

I believe Shiva's question was a rephrasing of what he'd already asked me, which I'd answered when I mentioned that the Temple sees Set as the only deity not made by humanity.

I see March the End-day has arrived. It is the day befor the day that the Fool arrives. The Green Man has promised to provide earth-shattering revelations.

In the matter of The Awon of Horus, it is to be noted that The Legend of Horus and Set has not been, um, incorporated or referenced within the Thelemic paradigm.

Well, Ra-Hoor-Khuit says, "I will deal hardly with them." But nowhere is :them" identified - except some reference to "the low men."

My theorem involves the recognition, by me (maybe you, maybe not) that them are The Minions of Set, as derived from, and expanded upon, by simply looking at the oldest version of the Horus tale ...

Osiris was King. Isis his wife. Set his brother.

Set wanted the throne. So he killed Osiris.

Horus got born through an old form of necromancy.

Set tried to kill infant Horus, but failed.

Later, Horus and Set fought many battles.

But neither ever wins.

How does this affect the Aeons?

The Aeon of Isis gave way to the Osiris Aeon.

But Osiris was dead - gone to the Underworld.

So who was running the Aeon of Osiris?

Set.

Behind the scenes.

An Aeon of Dominion with the dead puppet Osiris
held out as the supreme Lord.

Then Horus grows up (he matures around 1904).

Now the battles break onto the physical plane.

Dominion by herd-thought - or individual free-will?

See the daily news.

This has been the short-form elucidation. Anyone is invited to peruse, or obsess over, the more-detailed version as extracted from Appendix Four in The Hot Zones of Anicca. Here ...

The Temple does acknowledge the Aeons, and does make much of the slaying of Osiris, who is regarded in a similar way. In fact, there is a holiday commemorating the slaying, seen as victory over stasis and herd-thought.  The concept of separation of the individual is a cornerstone of Setian thought. The Temple does not seek to "worship" Set so much as a become as Set, in the sense of "Self deification", or daemonic integration.  Importance is also placed on Set's role as the deity who fights Apep, Apep seen as representing the illusions that bind.

I should also mention that the group within the Temple that I'd mentioned that works primarily with Thelemic magick is known as the Order of Horus.

Right. He stand in the front of The Solar Barque, defending the sun disk from Apep, who wants to eat it (the disk).

Tiger - Your Bird-Liz would not copy & paste, nor provide a "Quote" link, but it is interesting and portrays the mystical fusion just dandy.

Here is a quote link from a different site.

"The cult of Sobek was probably one of the earliest in ancient Egypt. He first appeared on a sealing from the reign of King Narmer, the first king of the first dynasty. The sealing shows crocodiles facing a distinctively shaped shrine that later became the symbol for the city of Shedet (modern-day Fayum).

Even the Coffin Texts, the funerary texts used primarily during the Middle Kingdom, address Sobek as “he who rises in the east and sets in the west.”

Sobek-Re, in his crocodile form crowned with the solar disc and uraeus (the symbolic cobra), became the creator who rose from the primeval waters, Nun, and formed the rest of the gods and the world

Horus of Shedet was shown as a crocodile on a seal from the reign of Khasekhmwy of the second dynasty.
Amenemhat II began to evoke an early dynastic, merged form of Sobek and Horus. Horus of Shedet was shown as a crocodile on a seal from the reign of Khasekhmwy of the second dynasty. Amenmhat II was the first to see this merge of Sobek and Horus of Shedet as the perfect syncretism to affirm the king’s divinity. But it was Amenemhat III who brought the role of “Sobek of Shedet-Horus residing in Shedet” to the highest significance.

Sobek-Horus of Shedet became associated with epithets like “Lord of the wrrt (White) Crown,” “he who resides in the great palace” and “lord of the great palace.” All of these epithets were related to the king rather than associated with any god. Even the name of Horus in this merged form was enclosed in a serekh like a king’s name. The king has always been identified as Horus on earth. With the new divine form of Sobek-Horus, the king as Horus merged with Sobek and incorporated himself as one with the god Sobek. "

What?  I like a bit of "herd thought" when I'm down on the football terraces.

Well that's evident. But they might be eating cake instead of bread when the circuses created for the herd, commence; and most likely immersed in other arenas.

I can see bird-gods being identified with the Sun, but flying crocs just don't fit the bill. I suppose the ruling class could have confused the planes.

Aha!  Now we're getting somewhere. This explains the (theological) position of the Temple Set, and provides a basis for The Beast who rises up from the Pit. It also makes one think of the concept of the DemiUrgent ("A Gnostic subordinate deity who is the creator of the material world).

In other traditions, the so-called demiurge is the first rattle out of the box. The "box" is Nun, the Primordial Mound or Sea. It is obviously no mistake that this is both Atu XIII and is pronounced "None," which (Qabalistically speaking) gets us back to the beginning and the end. How cool.

So, in an awful (awe-full) way, a lot of the [schools, orders, religions] paint a terrible image of the Demi-dude. Dragons, Naga, Crocs - please note that these are all reptilian symbols (as is Kundalini). Add the phrase, "Servants of the Star and the Snale," and we have an absolutely overwhelming  paradigm that suggests any aspirant better get his/her serpent and bird into yoga-union. This is like fusing yin and yang in a twirly circle. Nun is a secret key ...

We now know that Horus represents the individual. No need that he be a single Faro, but any aspirant who attains to Self-Realization will qualify.

Where are the Typhonians

I tend to be a generalist and generally think that Set (Typhon), Sebek, Sobek, Seth, Satan, and Shadda1, all beginning with "S," all represent the demiurge - who rises out of darkness (Nun, None, Nothing). Wiki tells us "El Shaddai (Hebrew: אֵל שַׁדַּי, ʾēl šaday; or just Shaddai is one of the names of the God of Israel. El Shaddai is conventionally translated into English as God Almighty (Deus Omnipotens in Latin), but its original meaning is unclear." (I see a potential conflict of interest with YHVH - but then , what else is new?).

Then we have Horus, Hoor, Hru, Heru, all of which begin with "H" (Atu Star).

S + H = 60 + 5 = 65 (ADNI), "The Lord," commonly used to ID the HGA.

Egyptian mythology taken as a whole gets confusing, with deities being merged, or put in to each others' myths. That Tiger describes for Sobek has been attributed to other deities as well, like Atum and Khepra.

But the Setian myth doesn't attribute the creation of the gods to Set,but to humanity, though one could possibly attribute that ability to the Gift of Set

We now know that Horus represents the individual. No need that he be a single Faro, but any aspirant who attains to Self-Realization will qualify.

And Setians see Set as the giver and representative of Isolate Intelligence. Sapience as a being separate from "nature"  (to use their term), it non-sapient animal and herd consciousness. And, as I mentioned, Setians seek to become as Set, through "self deification", or daimonic integration.  Hence their belonging to the Transcendent branch of the Path, rather than the Immanent branch, which is more focused on the temporal.

I am more than happy to be able to accept any excuse he may get around to posting. In jail, in hospital, in Ukraine, family emergency, power outage, in the hospital ward of a Chinese jail, death, amnesia - these are all honorable and acceptable reasons for missing a date.

This is why one must build their own QBL. Nobody is offering up any fixed solution to the names, heritage, and characteristics of some abstract notions.

If we simply follow AC's statement, "All these were men - their 'godhead' is the result of mythopoeia." (paraphrased). I accept the notion of the Nun, because it is the None of Dzogchen, Nirvana, the Zendo Emptiness, and a Black Hole.

I am now willing to accept the notion that Nun is the only true god and anything else is either made in Taiwan or PRC. I am willing to smile when someone puts a name on Nun, but no acceptance of any name or characteristics can be accepted as true by the innermost temple of belief systems.

Above the Abyss (A.'. the A.'.), there are no names, forms, or characteristics - all of these descriptions  are man-made. Putting the name of Set, or Hadit, upon the Nun (a name-word description in itself) is acceptable for mental dialog, but not acceptable as any type of ultimate naming. Names, numbers, and QBLs break down after departing on the outbound shuttle leaving Da'ath ...

The AEgyptian panthon is somehow critical to our western heritage. Most western folks do practices, or take acid, and they see Khemish figures and symbols. Like Crowley, and me, and most people I ask. But some will admit to seeing Hindu or Chinese archetypes. I have asked many folks this question and I have concluded that their (internally) "preferred" pantheon is a function of their DNA or "genetic memory."

So, here we are, mostly foundationalized in the Khem tradition, drawn together because of a common interest in a guy who expressed his theorem maily (but not always totally) in AEgyptian symbolism.

Good points have been raised, and the common denominator of (almost) all systems has again been pointed out. I would personally say that Set or Hadit, or Bedouit [sic?], are not the "true" names of the cental, onipresent void that doesn't have a name at all.
