Lol, as i am not an A.C. Scholar, i am not qualified to intelligently dispel all the rumors about Master Therion. In this article in particular->> http://usminc.org/crowley.html

Perhaps on of you could go through it and give it a critical analysis and refute it statement by statement. I ask this, because someone sent me that link and i wanted to have a good response. Basically just an essay-of-sorts, on what is true and not-true, about it.

Thanks in advance.

You're joking, right?

I got bored after 10 factual errors in the first five lines.

Well trolled, though, 93rdLibra.

Every statement in the first paragraph is crap except possibly, "penniless junkie." He was addicted to heroin but I think it's misleading to label him a junkie. I didn't bother to read any further.

Hahahah, that was fun to read. Many times when I read peoples vast and knowledgeable analyses on Crowley and Thelema, I tend to think "F*ck, I really don`t know nothing about the subject...", but after reading that article: At least I know something. 😆

Using the summary at the end:

1. Aleister Crowley was brain damaged from an accident as a child.

2. His behavior throughout his life was one of a psychotic. He did many sick and disturbing things.

3. He had no magical powers. If he had he would not have wound up a drug addict in a flophouse.

4. Becoming a drug addict, demonically possessed, a pedophile, contracting syphilis, sponging off people, and dying in a flophouse are not desirable things. A person who is involved in these things is not someone you base your religion on.

5. Crowley was obsessed with sex and strongly influenced by Satanism.

6. His occult teachings did not make him a better person. They made him a psychotic weirdo. People who follow his teaching can hope for the same.

7. His grandson did not follow in his footsteps, but became a Christian instead.

I wonder what response you'd get if you provided a link - presumably to offer it publicity or to give yourself some sort of vicarious thrill - to a page as ignorant as this on, say, the website of the James Joyce Society?

It would seem this author has plenty of time, a limited academic ability and basically no real life at all. Besides factual errors it is re-pleat with grammatical and stylistic inconsistencies. It did I am sure take some time though and for wasting his and mine I should congratulate the author.

Agreed! I checked the link shortly after it was posted and there were so many mistakes in the first paragraph alone that I saw no reason to proceed! It is not worth wasting time on!

Hey now, i'm not promoting any ones website. Sure, i could have started my post off with- "I know this is a crock- but..."

All i was requesting was for someone who is far more versed on Crowley, than myself, to write up an intelligent critical-analysis of that article. So i could pass it on over to the poor fool who linked it to me in the first place. I could defend it as best as i could, but from reading some of your guy's threads, i can see that there are alot of educated Crowley-enthusiasts on here, which is why i asked you for help. But Please don't assume anything. What i wanted was a well-written refute of those allegations, preferably the supposed "fact-based" remarks, on subjects such as pedophilia and what not. There is no sense in arguing the drug-issues with this person that i am in contact with. I don't believe they would care to hear a defense of his drug use.

I apologize for any misunderstanding, and if this goes against forum policy, please feel free to lock it.

Don`t worry. No shame, no guilt - even when linking a website that was just filth! 😛

OTOH, if you hadn't posted it I could have never read thamiel's comments: "haha. The last link on the left under wicca says, "Human Scarficies". Don't even bother responding to such people."! I laughed, and laughed, mostly because I kept thinking of Al Pacino saying "Say 'Hello' to my little friend."
Ah, lead to purest gold...
