What does Liber translate into English as?

I know that one! "Liber" is Latin for "book"!

Usage example:

Posted by: @ignant666

I meant a book more than 11 pages long, actually.

If that is what you meant then you should have specified when you first asked the question instead of moving the goalposts.

You're a logical fallacy factory, ignant. lol

You were supposedly a scientist and teacher? Doesn't speak well of the American educational system.

Yes, so unfair to expect alleged adults to sometimes read chapter books.

Yod is 1,554 words

I will pick Yod as it's shorter. I will need a long time to mem it, because like Chris, I take these things slowly. In this case, my slowness is due to apathy, or not caring. AC liked memorizing and reciting (and rewriting) Scripture, because it was a virtue in his very early, and later, childhood programming. He confesses that he was fascinated by the long lists of lineage-bearers in the Bible, and he enjoyed memorizing them.

This is the same list that Christians use to prove the world was created in 4004 BC. This "fact" is what led me away from enrolling in the Lutheran (Missouri Synod) ministry. There's no need to waste one's life on a mission that is based on miscalculation.

So, you see, how the same lists can lead in two different directions. This also proves that I am not the reincarnation of Aleister Crowley, and I should not be confused therewith. I have now lived eight years longer than both AC and Aquarius, who took their Seats in the East at age 72, and as of today, my instruments show that I am alive, and likely to be so tomorrow. The real question at this age is, "What is his mental state?" Lately, quite a few drive-byers have stopped by and parked for a while. They quickly ask themselves this same question.

Of course, they ask this same question about you. Then there's a few other folks that get involved, usually not in the kill-or-be-killed format, and their mentality is called into question. Most sane members here avoid the octagonal arena, but hell, somebody's got to do it, or there'll be no high-stakes game to bet on.

gaslighting

"Gaslighting" means trying to falsely convince someone they are crazy.

This would be a tad bit redundant with a man who imagines he gets initiatic messages from dead crows, sometimes likes to pretend to be an Indian, and believes he is a High Adept based on the profound occult meanings he finds in dumb Hollywood fantasy movies, wouldn't it?

Not to mention "V'Ger", and the "Grue" you so bravely battled, and finally triumphed over

Your obsessive mention of my head is noted. Will it be replaced with one of the 60 other ones when your curse takes effect?

It is so unsettling to be cursed by a powerful Adept such as you. It is like feeling the full fury of "My Little Pony". Or even a whole herd of them.

This high my fire. No higher. No hotter. - Siv in Swedish from the movie Midsommar in reference to an age limit set at 72.

It's unusual to pick that one to memorize in full. There are elements to it that need memorization, Liber DCLXXI in some circumstances or the order of the rituals for a method.

after an episode of sleep paralysis

I was awake. Apologies if that wasn't clear enough for you.

My point was that in retrospect it can be tricky discerning between being asleep/ dreaming in 'sleep paralysis' episodes but yes you were certain that you were awake at the time that the heavy curtain moved by itself so that clarifies things.

Do you think you might have a problem with your reading comprehension, ignant?

Xon I think Ignant means apart from books on magick and astronomy what else have you read in the last 12 months or so?  Also Ignant seems to think that you have a lot of spare time on your hands i.e are you employed or a student or an investor etc?

Maybe I'm a little above average at multi-tasking. Being able to read, work on projects, listen to music, watch a movie with subs, exercise, have a conversation and finish tasks and retain information.

Posted by: @dom

apart from books on magick and astronomy

That's just moving the goalposts. I was asked for the last book. Tough shit if it doesn't meet some unspoken standard that wasn't even implied in the most basic sense except in his head and likely after he heard the answer and it didn't fit his narrative. He was being desperate.

If you're legitimately curious you can go look up some thread that asked about books a couple months back. That lists a few. I read a couple others between then and now. Those should suffice anyhow.

Pretending you don't know what is meant by the words "a book" is rather pathetic, speaking of "desperate".

It is not "moving the goalposts" to say that AC's Libers are not "books" by what is commonly understood by that word, despite "liber" being Latin for "book". Something 11 pages long, like the longer of the libers you mentioned, is not a "book".

You know this, i know this, we all know this- pretending otherwise just underscores the point: you don't read much, or are embarrassed to admit to reading Young Adult fantasy novels about the emotional struggles of enchanted elves.

"Bored aristocrat"?! More like "unemployable nut-case who lives in mom's basement", i'd guess. All that "multi-tasking" and Grue-battling can't allow much time for real-world accomplishments.

A market for a biography is starting to look like a possibility, so, maybe later.

For those workings involving V'ger and the Grue there were sufficient means to allow focus exclusively on the Work.

What to you is a 'Satanic Thelemite' ?

Do you incorporate anything from the Temple of Set, for example?

Why do you feel like aligning with a so-called Satanic Current, and how does it at all relate to Thelema?

Is it related to our Setian comrade who hasn't posted in awhile?

That and maybe your other questions are better addressed over in the Black Magick is not a Myth thread.

Read that thread carefully, consider what you're reading without jumping to conclusions or trying to fit it into preconceptions and try to follow the conversation to avoid redundancy.

11 pages ..., is not a "book".

These things qualify a pamphlets or brochures, sometimes menus or Tables.

Since The Equinoxes (Vol I + II:1-blue) contained most or all of the Liber pamphlets, mixed with pottery poetry, short stories, and attacks on Edwin Arthwaite, plus commercial advertisements as well, I have found it too much to memorize ... mainly because all i want is the pamphleted Libers.

The angels came to me and said, "Cut out all this crap!"

I hear gasps and murmurs from poetry lovers and Arthwaite Aficionados (A.'.A.'.). Crowley himself wrote that The Equinoxes were supposed to carry the Libers past the coming catastrophe (Armageddon) and so he inserted poems and stories that would appeal to people who liked this stuff and thus take care to preserve the books, even through hard times.

Too bad his printers didn't know about acid-free paper and bindings that would not disintegrate. Most original Equinoxes are now in what we might call a "crumbly" stage.

Anyway, I didn't need to "cut out" anything. Israel did that for us.

The original Student Reading List of the A.'.A.'. started with The Equinox(es). The same list in Star System simply substitutes Gems from The Equinox, and we're all back to a solid square One because Gems is tightly-bound on good, but very thin, paper. Gems has a chance of making it through The End of The World.

I always had my students memorize Gems. That way there's no question about this or that, or some minor detail.

This post contains sarcasms and humorisms. Only you can tell the difference between Shiva the Ascetic and Shiva the Householder ... or by asking me directly if you're confused.

Gems is good.
Gems is very good.

Mine is on thick glossy paper.

1980s? New Falcon Hardcover.

I was using it today. and yesterday. And the day before.

So yes I recommend it.

I reread Engrue-ised Energised Enthusiasm yesterday. Totally fascinating use of 'natal' energy.  Hitch your comet on that.

(I bet he's proud I mentioned his pets).

The Canadian social safety net is decent, but I suspect it would be inadequate for the sort of work that was involved with V'ger and the Grue. Not all magical retreats are that costly in my experience, so it's not cost prohibitive and if someone is in that position they'd find a way.

The question seems out of nowhere and I'm struggling to understand the relevance. If it's not a racist comment, it is starting to look like an attempt to doxx. Having the ideas I presented challenged is one thing, questions about my personal financial status is another. I won't be goaded into revealing my occupation. So, the relevance is unclear. I answered as is relevant to the subject.

It has absolutely nothing to do with net worth or the like.  The 'bored aristocrat' statement smacked of defensiveness as does this racism-diversion madness.   'Bored aristocrat'?  The reason I ask these questions is because I wanted to know how you managed to skilfully integrate your Great Feast retreat and other magical retreats whilst living the alter-ego of regular guy with job or regular guy who is seeking employment or at college etc.

It was defensive, but not for the reason you're assuming. I'm not revealing that personal information. You'll have to wait for the biography. Sometime after my 9th degree attainment, perhaps.

Posted by: @dom

as does this racism-diversion madness.

I've encountered almost continual hostility and racist slurs(Red Indian) in regards to my ancestry since I revealed I was Indigenous on Lashtal.  It's not madness, it's a fact. And I've got receipts for it.  It's been used as a bludgeon to attack my character and integrity even in this thread.

Have you?   I have not once mentioned your race in any thread whatsoever, in fact I don't even know what race you are.   Again, this seems to be bullshit evasiveness as to my question on how you get time to do all these magical retreats, a simple innocent question which has absolutely nothing to do with net worth or race.   In fact, W.T. very F?

It's the art thread, so what?  I still don't know what race you are, I can't see you, in fact it doesn't interest me or probably anyone else here, you claiming to be this or that doesn't tell me anything, you could be a Puerto-Rican Eskimo for all I know and so what anyway?  This is clearly some weird hang-up you have.... or fantasy .

You trying to make out I made a racist comment is possibly the most outlandish thing anyone ever said to me on this forum.    You're evading the 'your spare-time/ long magical retreats question', simple.   I know nothing about ethnic groups/welfare stats wherever you're from.

You probably know this, but one can get "Registered" if they are 1/8 of the required lineage. That's one great-grandparent, out of eight. I have known a few 1/8s, and I have known "Registered" folks who are 1/2. So it's not uncommon or hard to be "Registered" if you have just a little of the lineage in your ancestry.

Of course, you can always ask for a copy of the receipt. He can redact the name and number and personal data. If it matters.

Picture of a Pointy Wand

36. The forest of the spears of the Most High is called Night, and Hades, and the Day of Wrath; but I am His captain, and I bear His cup.

37. Fear me not with my spearmen! They shall slay the demons with their petty prongs. Ye shall be free.

38. Ah, slaves! ye will not— ye know not how to will.

39. Yet the music of my spears shall be a song of freedom.

This reminds me of the olden days, when a new pharaoh sends out the artisans to remove all images and inscriptions from the pervious pretender. It is akin to toppling statues and removing graffiti.

It's more like those who wished to preserve their hegemony are the ones to encourage this with Pharoah. It works great too. No one remembers Akhenaten or Hatshepsut.

Sounds a bit drastic, why should it be so hard to just take his word for it? No one asked to see papers when I mentioned I'm half Finnish, why should it seem so unusual that an "indigenous" person visits Lashtal?

I do. I believe he has at least 1/8 ancestry from native America. Maybe more. Maybe 100%. How can I tell? It's not part of the energy field (that I can see). I have no reason to disbelieve him. It doesn't matter one way or another (to me).

I only tried a nice try because Ignant doesn't seem to believe him, and I tried to put that fire out. That was a mistake. I got it backward. Mr White said, "Basicly, we go around setting fires."

I think the latest issue is he brought race into the equation when i was talking about something that had nothing to do with race which suggests that he has severe problems with communication or just in general.

Imagine if you and I were discussing whether I have a lot of free time or not (and why?) and then i suddenly come out with, oh I get it is this because I'm Swedish?  You would be like, 'What the F---?..What's this guy's problem(s)?   Utterly over the top, right?

FYI I believe the thread about racial this or that is here https://www.lashtal.com/forums/stuff/what-are-your-views-on-modern-art/paged/2/#post-105445

Now, now. I suggest caution, or your ideas will be fed to "the demon." And heaven knows what else you will evoke if you continue in this manner.

Come, join me on some other thread where we enjoy daily samadhi and need to straighten out a few kinks here and there about WTF it is, and whether it matters.

Ultimately, none of it matters. Right now it's a source of distraction as the World Ends (WE) around us. Note: WE = 6+5 = 11 = Magick/Change. What else do you want?

is this because I'm Swedish?

In your case, yes. We all know the vikings have a superior racial attitude, because they live more north.

Imagine if you and I were discussing whether I have a lot of free time or not (and why?)

Why would he imagine that? You didn't even ask if I had a lot of free time. LOL

And from the wording of your questions it doesn't appear that was the direction of your inquiry.

If you had made fewer assumptions and accusations in your questioning and asked about free time you may have gotten those responses.

Reading your questions again, at best your intention maybe could construed that you were trying to see if I would criticize the poor.

Did you find that you had the time and resources for magical retreats when you were on welfare?

You're right. I saw that too. My superior memory has now been downgraded to "faulty," which is not a favorable rating. But now the prophecy of three is fulfilled, plus I was able to bear true witness against you, and so who cares about the details?
