I recently found out about this due to a podcast someone else here posted, the SHWEP or Secret History of Western Esotericism Podcast . I haven't really heard it yet but I liked the intro music.   So I am listening to the whole piece now.

This is of course, translated to Prometheus, the poem of fire.

As an occult theme, and at around the same time of AC's time of founding the A.. and the Fin De Siecle (sic?) coming to an end I thought it fitting to post here.

I like it a lot.

It of course sounds a lot like Chopin and Debussy as this was contemporaneous.

You can almost picture Prometheus at work.

Circa 1910 by Alexander Scriabin. He died strangely around age 40 of a pimple that turned into a pustule carbuncle and then boil etc and poisoned his blood.....? very sad.

Thanks!

It can be said that Scriabin was the inventor of the "light show" ...Scriabin had a fascination with the phenomena of 'synesthesia' ...seeing sounds, hearing colors...and apparently explored performances with colored lighting accompanying performances of his music....

The post reminds me of a vinyl record I played quite a bit in the 80's and 90's that contained as well as the Prometheus -The Poem of Fire, the Poem of Ecstacy and had an interesting liner notes...

Here is a reputed live performance of the Poem of Ecstasy..

Chris do you know that Psychick TV sampled a Scriabin chord in a loop on this album?

Psychic tv themes 2 - YouTube

Before you play it get a blue light bulb for your room, some Satanic incense, light it and lie on your bed but don't move a muscle for the entire time it plays.

I was the "someone else", & no I wasn't aware of where the intro music came from. I assumed it was Holst or someone similar. Thanks for the details.
