Kidneyhawk: LOL : )

ZirIpol: I suppose Crowley and Liber AL is so ingrained in the pop culture consciousness at this point name checking The Book of the Law in a video seems to be a shorthand for all kinds of "rock and roll excess" especially in this age of meta-referencing and rampant irony. Even the article you linked forwent the usual Crowley = satanist tripe and instead referenced the Crowley / lonelygirl connection. Strange days we live in.

In a nutshell, who knows. Neat song though. I hadn't heard of this guy. Sounds like he really wants to channel Queen.

ZirIpol-

AWK played with Current 93 on their last album, Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain. Amongst the line-up, we have long-time member William Breeze (who also happens to lead OTO, Inc as their OHO). I recently watched a youtube video in which AWK was interviewed and casually mentioned "True Will" as a description of one's basic nature. He has, doubtlessly, encountered "Thelema."

Whether or not he identifies himself as such, his work is wonderful. I first heard of David Tibet via a Lashtal.com news item and, exploring this further, found C93 to be a phenomena I had been seriously missing out on (and one which I quickly caught up to speed with). Via a C93 website, I discovered AWK-and was, quite simply, blown away by his work.

"Vagabond" is found on the album "Mother of Mankind" which comes packaged with the re-release of "Close Calls With Brick Walls." This collection of songs represents AWK's astounding diversity of genre and genius.

The Book Of The Law has many rousing passages, despite its cryptic nature. One such passage is the familiar "Every Man and Every Woman Is A Star." There is something in this basic declaration that cuts to the core of our consciousness. AWK embodies the "Star-Man" and his "message" is one that joyously calls to the same within every human being. I don't know if I've ever heard such energetically positive music in my life.

93...and Party Hard,

Kyle

Great info thanks for sharing that. This makes me want to give him a closer look. I have loved C93 for many years but I have yet to get the new album so I missed this connection. I suppose the reference may come from a more sincere place than my first impression. So jaded 🙂

Hey thanks for this info. I've been into AWK for a long time, that and his twitter is hilarious.

It's not that I'm groundlessly wondering whether he's into Thelema or not, but hell when the shoe fits. Same as when I see someone sporting a unicursal hexagram tat.

My friend's son had requested AWK's Party Hard to be played at his funeral. I was shocked when I was told but, on the day, it seemed really appropriate. It was just the kind of thing that Colin would do.

😀 I got a good laugh out of this video too, though I have to admit that I have never heard of the guy. Did anybody notice that the guitar solo at the end is very Jimmy Page-ian? Listen to the opening riff of the solo, which continues throughout, it is straight out of the Page play book. A nice touch!

i cant tell if he is taking himself seriously though
one thinks an artist that was wouldn't put out such a pointless single. WHERES THE CONTENT!

as for liber al . i would be very surprised if his decision to include it did NOT have anything to do with jay z.

edit to say i just reread kidney hawks post. it seems he does have a hand in the pie for real . lol
i dont know if he has the intelligence to like it for more than a fad based on his music though. i am being judgemental because i dont have very much in the public record of his recordings to show some insight on his part. imho hohohoho
