There are two major issues of the Coronavirus pandemic: it being uncontained, carriers may have no symptoms for 24 days, and governments actively suppressing the correct number of infections and risks in order to prevent public panic. The other risk is the economic fallout that will begin to show itself in your local grocery stores. China is the worlds second largest economy and their economy has completely stopped for the last 30 days. Certain multinational company's are already being impacted but the impact will be much bigger then not being able to buy Apple Airpods. China may have 30-90 days of strategic food reserves on hand but when those run low they will buy from the international food markets and that means empty grocery store shelves for everyone else. Let's hope it doesn't get to that point but don't be surprised if it does. If or when Walmart shelves get empty in the US mass panic will begin and at that point it will be too late to stack up for your needs. Good luck out there and look out for fellow Thelemites.

RL, you have started a thread that is not related to AC or other extensions of his legacy. The inclusion of the word "Thelemites" doesn't count, as LAShTAL is not a "Thelemic site.

Look Mister Smarty_mouth-pants, there is nothing anyone can do to "get ready" for something like this, except stock up and stay home.

At the last perusal, you were/are/never have been any form of Establishment Public Service Medical Announcement Agency. Your post is not even remotely associated with A.C., so it's off-topic in all respects, and stoopid to boot.

There seems to be something malfunctioning in your mentat, as evidenced by bizarre yopics and concepts across several threads.

I can't decide whether to recommend seeing a doctor or reminding you to  take your meds. But I will remind you that this is not Twitter, or Facebook, or Reddit; you don't get to run amuck like a little kid in Walmart, yelling out whatever is on your mind.

I recommend dharana.

Does it?  Doesn't it mean that production will increase to meet increased demand?   Maybe google the following terms;  'economics', 'supply and demand concept'  and 'price mechanism'.

What's your source?  Fox News?  Dude, dontchya know that that channel is there for the uneducated?

You actually believe China purchasing more food than usual from abroad will lead to the entire rest of the world going hungry, or even minor food shortages, in eg, the US?

Your lack of understanding of the world as displayed in this thread is impressive, even knowing what a nit-wit you are from your other threads.

Why will they need so much food in China when they're all dead from the pandemic you fear?

Obviously no sane person would trust you to invest their money, so when you call yourself a "full-time investor", i would assume you mean "unemployable rich kid who has not yet blown through all daddy's money on Bitcoin 'investing' and day-trading", that is, i would assume that if i believed you were older than 17 or so.

One potential vector for coronavirus transmission is said to be through bats....so speaking of bats one of the greatest stories in the Confessions concerns Rose having been bitten by a bat and where he was astonished finding her hanging upside down from the bed frame, insane, that Crowley referred to as the best example of possession he had ever had the fortune to see...or something to that effect...I am looking for the passage...for the quote is really a classic!

Ok...so reading through these posts, the warning is warranted, and well could be an act of war that decimates humanity globally...Think you are going to have food....well I would not be so smug, even in America, which is just a natural disaster or two away from supply lines being shut, no strategic reserves, and insane population, decimated as some would argue, by the British Empire, extant through its financial oligarchy pirate ships of the City of London and Wall Street and associated islands, continuing with the same drug money laundering it used to decimate China and destroy western culture...and by the way, using AC as a means of pushing the agenda....and by the way as a foil for terrorism as Peter Lavender lays out in one of his books...but was apparent to me back that sunny September day...and noting all of the non coincidental use of symbols and numbers....It was Thelema that was hijacked!

For the most part investing is just rearranging chairs on the Titanic so to speak, but nice if one can do it, and perhaps  helpful if actually helping the general welfare of community and  the physical economy then just gaming it and extracting wealth and keeping the money changers in power.

Crowley did display optimism as regards humanity's capabilities, but stayed within his own sphere of expressing his contributions in passing on the tradition of the Great Work for those who might be bitten....

Yes, yes. This is a repetitive scenario involving food, water, guns, meds, etc.  We just finished going through all this not long ago on some hot thread. There is no need to preach to the choir.

Both mainstream media and alternative media have surely caught everyone's ear by now. There is no need to track current events into the council chamber, unless (even remotely) related to Aleister C.

Investor usually means "gambler." It is one of the stupidest afflictions going around. However, some people actually have a knack for stocks, bonds, securities, commodities (certainly not myself), and they are good enough at it that they pay the bills and are free enough that they don't do the work.

Speaking no kill shelters- I ate dog in Japan.  It was at a Chinese hot pot restaurant run by my Chinese friend's gangster uncle.  was pretty good.  Kind of gamey and sweet.

If I run out of canned food and water I have a microbial water filter pump for outdoors and can shoot me some squirrels/geese/ducks until they are used up.  But by the time I go outdoors and eat them I will probably be infected anyway. So what's the point?

Anyone who wanted to could probably eat all 80 pounds of my little pit-bull bitch Fifi, and she would probably wag her tail as you did so, but few would be brave enough to try.

On the other hand, anyone who wanted to trifle with my elderly cockapoo bitch Maud had best be careful, she will take your hand off. And she is at best a fryer (my late mother used to classify cats as roasters or fryers- usage example- "That is definitely a roasting cat.")

 I ate dog in Japan.

When I lived in the delta I ate a few alligators. It was tangy and had a nicely unique texture. You can get it fresh in restaurants as far north as Memphis, from what I've experienced, but that's a little expensive. I bet you could get it cheaply in New Orleans, if you're going on a Crowleyan Hajj.

My favorite part of the coronavirus coverage is reading all of the wacky chicom responses to it. I've heard they've got trucks full of bleach blasting down the streets in Wuhan, because they think it makes them look good. It's not as funny as hearing their saber-rattling claims of laser pistols and genome soldiers, but it's close. They live in a cartoon world.

Gator is tasty.  We went to NOLO on our anniversary 2 years ago. Was super fun.  Had some gator in gumbo and also some gator jerky. I met some on a swamp tour too.  Absinthe House was interesting. There's a thread about it somewhere around here.

We love it down there.  I love the pace in the South. I was stationed in SC too, that was nice.

Just don't like the humid summers but I would live there the other seasons.  one can get used to anything I suppose.  If I don't move to Europe again I wouldn't mind retiring in the South.

Right. The waters have risen since then. "They" say the melt rate and the rising seas have accelerated since decades ago. Any place near the ocean that is below sea level will be filled killed.

We see one effect of the coronavirus pandemic in the brutal smacking markets are taking today as Chinese production grinds to a halt.

"Full-time investors" are taking a bath.

As the virus has now hit the USA, we will see how wise it has been for the Trump Administration to, each year for the last three years, massively cut funding for the CDC, and force out career CDC scientists seen as insufficiently "loyal" to the Trump Administration, and massively cut funding for the Commissioned Public Health Corps, and massively cut Federal funding for state and local health departments.

Oh, and whether it has been wise the several times Trump has (already, a couple weeks in) over-ruled the advice of the public health professionals still working at CDC on coronavirus quarantine, and pandemic response, measures.

Thank the gods we have a "very stable genius" in charge of the US response to this massive world-wide public-health crisis, who knows better than to listen to career public health folks (almost all of whom are Democrats, so obviously untrustworthy), and PhD epidemiologists (all of them i've ever met (and i know dozens) are Democrats too).

Remember that open borders and infectious diseases go well together for spreading the disease. But I won't take your word for it, I am pretty sure the bug men would be fine with more work. Besides the liberal WHO declared it is not a pandemic nor do they classify outbreaks as pandemics anymore. Oh and the Chinese are ordering people back to work. So everything is fine. The empty food stores in Italy are just conservative panic mongers.

Most of CDC, and the public health world in general, is staffed by women, so mostly "bug women", FYI. I can assure you their whole work life is dedicated to having "less work", i.e. less infectious disease.

But Trump's political control of public-health decision-making in the USA, especially given his "America First!" delusions, and tendency to ignore knowledgeable people and instead make policy based on whatever stories "Fox and Friends" is leading with that day, ensures they will be very busy for the foreseeable future, until the coronavirus evolves into less-lethal forms.

A pretty stunning about-face in six days, my Gorean comrade:

Six days ago, you told us we would all starve to death. The living were going to envy the dead, just six days ago, you said.

While things are unlikely to get as bad as you predicted, six days ago, "just the flu" this ain't.

Of course, anyone who knew anything at all about public health and epidemiology would never say an imbecilic thing like "just the flu".

Spanish flu killed infected more than a quarter of the world's population, and killed 40 to 50 million from 1918-1920:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu

The death rate of 2-3% for coronavirus is about the same as for the Spanish flu. The world's population is 5 times larger than it was during the Spanish flu epidemic, and vastly more interconnected by international travel and trade.

So if the current death rate is sustained for a couple years, we should expect around 2 billon infected, and 250 million dead.

Gods help anyone who listens to you, about anything. Maybe time for a period of silence, and reflection about how you could have been so totally wrong?

Well, then, that makes it true.

I wonder what percentage of these twats (that is the correct term for "one who tweets", isn't it?) have PhDs in epidemiology, or at least an MPH (Master's in Public Health), i.e. have any idea what they are talking about?

In asking how your "investments" are doing, i meant this week- last week the COV-19 correction hadn't started yet. Markets today are screaming downwards.

As to my investments, like most people who own equities, i have taken a hit today. Fortunately, i have a diversified portfolio, and am also pretty confident of the long-term strength of equity markets.

As to your spending $3k on books, I just paid $2,700 in real estate taxes this week, and am about to pay about two grand on some surgery for one of my dogs next week; i already own all the occult books i want, thanks. Not sure what your point here is. It may be news to you that non-poor adults routinely spend thousands of dollars on things.

Hope you do better with understanding the new books than you have with the ones you've read so far.

Splendidly, thanx for asking. I have all the money i want, and am able to provide for my family. There is no need for you to send me bitcoin donations.

US equities are off 3.5% at close today; my personal equity-holdings haircut today was a bit less than that, maybe 2.5%, due to good luck.

Also, please note that when Comrade @RuneLogIX used the term "the liberal WHO [World Health Organization]" a few posts back, he was using the term "liberal" in the way Trumpists like himself usually do: "informed and reality-oriented; not basing statements or policies on wishful thinking, ignorance, or fantasy".

Of course, there are no "open borders advocates" in US politics. Yet another example of the penchant of "conservatives" for falsehood, self-delusion, wishful thinking, and ignorance.

Some Democrats running advocate returning immigration policy to what it was before Bush The Younger, who was the first to criminalize immigration violations, which had always previously been civil offenses, even under Bush The Elder and St. Ronald.

All Democrats, and all reality-oriented persons, accept that it is not physically possible to build a "wall", or even the tall fence that Trump has built literally miles of (well, not literally literally, actual one literal mile of new fence has been built) along the US/Mexico border, which consists of a line down the middle of a river that shifts course when it rains, mountains, and desert.

Advocating de-criminalization of immigration violations, and admitting that a US/Mexico border "wall" is not physically possible, is what "conservatives" [read: "fascists"] mean when they refer to "open borders advocates".

There aren't actually any people who advocate for actual open borders, in the sense of borders that are open with no controls on who or what crosses them.

[edit: i am sure there actually are a few such folks, because there are some folks who believe any thing you can possibly think of, but they have no actual influence on actual policies or positions of any Democratic office-holder, or plausible candidate]

@ignant666 From the "plan nine from outer space department" here is Bernie Sanders policy positions:

On Day One, President Sanders would declare a moratorium on deportations and offer a "swift pathway to citizenship" for all illegal migrants who have been here for five years.

Bernie would break up ICE. Border-jumping would cease to be a crime and become a civil offense like jaywalking. The "Muslim ban" would be abolished.

President Sanders would back sanctuary cities that refuse to work with U.S. law enforcement. Asylum seekers would not have to wait in Mexico as their claims were processed but would be welcomed into the USA.

Family separations would end. Trump's wall, which Bernie calls "racist," would be history. The administration's treatment of illegal immigration "as a criminal and national security matter is inhuman, impractical and must end."

Migrants who enter illegally would qualify for federal health care and the same social welfare benefits as U.S. citizens. Immigrant officials say Sanders' proposals would create an irresistible magnet for millions of migrants from all over the world to stampede into the USA.

The Nation magazine calls Sanders' plan "one of the boldest immigration plans any major politician has put forward in years, and comes amid a campaign season that has seen a major shift to the left among Democratic candidates on immigration.

"With calls for a total moratorium on deportations, abolishing ICE and providing a path to citizenship for undocumented migration, the plan serves as a road map for what a fair and just immigration can be."

As you can imagine, I am thrilled to have these ideas tested with the electorate.

Long-term neo-fascist Nixon admin vet Pat Buchanan is definitely a reliable source on any Democratic politico's positions; here is our Comrade's far-right wing-nut source, since he doesn't provide it:

https://townhall.com/columnists/patbuchanan/2019/11/12/bernie-leads-his-party-to-open-borders-n2556311/

The wingnuttery is obvious with the first sentence of the third paragraph: "President Sanders would back sanctuary cities that refuse to work with U.S. law enforcement."

See, if Bernie were president, "US law enforcement" (which he would be in charge of, since it is part of the executive branch) would not be pursuing the racist policies that have led almost every major city in the US to be a "sanctuary city".

For anyone who wants to read Bernie's immigration policy positions in his own words, rather than caricatured by his enemies:

BTW, i favor Sen. Dr. Prof. Elizabeth "Pocahontas" Warren over Bernie, but will be happy to vote for him too.

I too "am thrilled to have these ideas tested with the electorate."

Everything is fine. It's just the flu.

I imagine some 'experts' might have given similar reassurances to sufferers from the Bubonic Plague during mediaeval times: "Oh, do stop worrying now - it's only a rash"...

Satirically yours (with a pocketful of posies),

Re; The Wall.

I guess it works for the Israelis because I don't remember the last radical -Islamist bus bomb attack since it was built.  However could people on the Mexican side dig under a wall?  I've never dug a hole in a desert so I wouldn't know.

You cannot build a wall or fence down the middle of a river, especially one that shifts course when it rains.

Sections of Trump's new fence that have been built near the river have movable lower portions which have to be raised up several feet for six months a year to prevent river silt and debris building up, and thus causing the current to rip the whole thing down. You can just crawl under the raised bits during the months from March to September or so.

Drug smugglers routinely build tunnels under the border, sometimes with miniature railroads to transport their wares.

Part of the very the small section of fence Trump has built recently blew over in high winds.

There is no wall anywhere, nor is Mexico paying for any of what has been built.

Also, look at a map. The US/Mexico border is a tad bit longer than Israel's frontiers.

I bought $3k in occult books last week since Lashtal doesn't want my money. How are yours?

So these books on spiritual advancement were they bought the way some mega- rich fool pays for a Van Gough and the like ie merely as an investment to sell on at a higher price?

93!

IIRC Lashtal did not want any virtual bitcoin donation, that's all. Have you actually found an occult bookseller who takes bitcoin? Or did you cash it beforehand? Because then you just have paypalled it to Lashtal. Just curious which occult bookseller does this? What books did you buy? Got some pics?

I think his bluff has been called, reality being confused with fantasy.
