I have been lurking around Lashtal since 2004 or 2005: this is my second account, as I lost all the details pertaining the one I used before - and even then, I was never very active.

With the rolling in of the Roaring 20s, I decided to start being more active as there are several good discussions around, and also due to the fact that pretty much every other Thelemic community online proved to be - well - exactly what you expect from a Thelemic community online.

Yet I cannot help but notice that there seem to be only male, or male-identifying posters on here? Am I wrong?

You are not wrong. Dom gave you the link to a recent thread where this is discussed in detail. Some fems appear from time to time, but none seem active right now. As you know, this is the Home of The Aleister Crowley Society, and it is not a "Thelemic" site. You know how AC was about women, and The Names of Women Members are Never Revealed? I guess this is some Good Ole Boys network, but the ladies are always welcome.

A couple of ladies (ex regular posters) have been banned or have ejected themselves from the forum.   There was another lady who tried to convince people that she was the literal  incarnation of Babalon.   She didn't last long.

And then Tao and Bridget With-A-Spanish-Last-Name, but they are both infrequent posters. In addition to Alrah and Mayet, to give names to those ban-hammered women that david does not. And there was the Christian ex-Amado Crowley disciple for a while.

But yes, a bit of a sausage party here recently and historically. See other thread for much theorizing as to why. Certainly not the result of any animus against women here though.

We're all gender-fluid here.

@michael Staley

Mick here is correct.

Anyone who has any mental gonads knows we can gender bendify identify as whatever we want

For example today I am a large breasted woman with red hair while drumming like a man.

Perhaps we can also talk about men beating women at sports because they 'changed' their gender.

Please don't mock my stance as I am currently in feminine mode and I am quite sensitive.

I don't know how you really feel, but I think it's hilarious.

I love seeing this stuff. (Please note the 6 and absence of a 7 or 8.)

I really feel that this is all hilarious shenanigans.  You have to laugh at the madness or you will go mad as well.

At times i course the realm of conceptual being as a feline with claws and fangs or happenstance finds it so on occasion .

Do you realise how your tone comes across as offensive, or it's just gonna be ok because "it's between lads"?

Is this who you mean by 'Nazi troll' (ie Chris)?    Keep on overusing the term 'nazi' and it loses it's impact and it's true meaning.

No, it doesn't. Also, you might want to check your grammar.

No, it doesn't.

Could you define the 'it' in the above sentence?

Ok then it's looking like that' it' is the fact that you admit that you are overusing the term 'nazi'.

I'm sorry that my rather off-hand remark about gender-fluidity was take up by those who like to deride what they percieve as "political correctness". Even more sorry that the N-word has surfaced in this thread - does it have to be uttered in every thread? Reminds me of when Los was in his pomp here - no thread was safe from being turned into a case for his brand of rationalism.

Back to the subject of this thread. Yes, it appears that the majority of people posting here are male. It seems the case with Crowley/Thelemic forums generally, though the 'Thelema' page on Facebook seems to have plenty of women posting. Some might think that the solar-phallicism for which A.C. is famed might be a turn-off. However - again, as far as I can judge - there is broadly similar proportion on 'Typhonian Mysteries', the forum focussing on Kenneth Grant's work.

Do you realise that as a proponent of free speech, I enjoy making fun of absolutely everything, including myself?

In regards to the topic I think that most women just do not have as great an interest in metaphysical matters as men, based on my experience.  Why that is the case I am not sure.

That is not to say that women are not religious (far different than metaphysics/spirituality) as I notice a larger portion of the feminine sex are actually religious compared to men, but not 'spiritual'.

Perhaps the more organised and stable nature of religion appeals to them more than a do-it-yourself kind of spiritual practise?  Not sure why.

I sure am.  I am speaking from my particular experience.  If you would like to share yours, it would perhaps be germane to the discussion.

I have mixed it up in many metaphysical/spiritual circles, and they are composed (and led) by many women. Moreso than manly men. I think the ladies just don't like Crowley, because he's so abusive towards women in his scribblings. most women I have known that have read Crowley or done his practices tend to veer off into something else after a while. Most women, in general, tend to be turned-off by something AC wrote.

Yeah, you'll find a lot of them in Wicca. And most "channelers" are women. It's not that they won't do it themselves, they just don't like Crowley and other dirty old men.

They are also Facebook Groups, aka the lowest of the low.

I deactivated Facebook for the best part of the last year... only recently went back on it, and noticed it's still the worst of the lot.

I doubt that. I'm a member of the Facebook 'Thelema' group, and that's not the impression I have.
