Some great finds at Adrian Harrington's
These are outside my range right now but I thought I would share here.
Harrington has a whole stack of Crowley firsts that have come in over the past few months. Some real gems here especially when it comes to holograph letters... Check out the one to Frederic Mellinger.
CROWLEY, Aleister (MELLINGER, Frederic).
A Collection of Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Frederic Mellinger, Student and O. T. O. Member. Comprising 20 Letters and 3 Envelopes (one with Crowley's wax seal); 1 Article Regarding Finances from the O.T.O.; 1 Poem/Song; 5 'Greetings of the Equinox'; 12 Photographs and 2 Thoth Tarot Cards.
He also has a copy of Cours Theorique et Pratique du Livre de Thot
A book from 1790 about tarot divination... one of the first as I understand.
A first edition of Mathers Book of Abramelin.. WANT!!!
as well as some Waite firsts...one of which is signed
A really beautiful collection! I just set myself back completing my collection of Typhonian Trilogy Deluxes... a bad habit as now I need to find deluxes for Against the Light and Snakewand... oh to be compulsive and a collector...
Perhaps one of these gems will find a home with a Lastalian.
I nearly choked on my breakfast when I saw the asking prices.
I got a fantastic price from him on a signed Mueller first of Outside the Circles of Time (with the Sorcerers Apprentice pricesticker inside - which actually consider a plus rather than a minus considering the legacy of that shop.)
In the collectables market never pay "asking" price 🙂
Speaking of signed (non Starfire) firsts. Has anyone ever seen a signed Hecate's Fountain?
I love Adrian's shop.
He is a true gent also - and happy to spend a great deal of time showing you his wonderful Crowley and esoteric collection.
He will deal on prices - I got three of the carfax monographs from him for a lot less than the listed price.
Any Lashtalians that wash up in Kensington with some pocket money to spare should make a point to drop in.
ooohh!!! I am on the lookout for those! I have my fingers crossed and talismans shiny in hopes I will come across those and a copy of Gulls Beak.
I got my first Carfax Monograph as a present just before Christmas last year, the one concerning the Tree of Life. Quite badly foxed, but there are so few around that you have to think "frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn". And anyway, after the ravages of the years, I'm quite badly foxed myself, so we go rather well together.
I've only ever seen one copy of The Gull's Beak, but it was rather badly produced. A lot of typos were corrected in the course of preparing the poems from it for Convolvulus. The frontispiece for it was a lovely linocut by Steffi Grant, which was used again as the frontispiece for the republication of Outside the Circles of Time.
Thank you einDoppelganger and serpentarius for the kind words! Your complimentary first editions of the Book of Thoth are in the post... 🙂
Please, sir; me, sir!
