"To know immediately ,then, intuitively is for mental content and object to be identical" - Dr William James(_The Writings Of William James_. pg 155). This is about as good of a description of samadhi as you will find. Contrast it with Vivikanada's description of samadhi,

williamames

“When giving up all forms, reflects only the meaning, it is Samadhi. That comes when in meditation the form or external part is given up. Suppose that I were meditating on a book, and that I have gradually succeeded in concentrating the mind on it, and perceiving only the internal sensations, the meaning unexpressed in any form - that state is called samadhi.”

Crowley said that some high level initiates of AA had no formal contact with the order. I think we can award an honorary AA grade to James just based on this quote.

Sorry, but I cannot second the motion. Anything written in a book, no matter how clever, can be examined and the author judged by others as (up to) a 7=4. But for 8=3+, I need to see his face before he was born.

Isn't that partly your problem and not his? 😜

It isn't a problem. It's a metaphor.

Obviously, we've all heard that one. The way you said "I need to see his face..." suggested "the problem" lies with the one trying to see the face and not said owner of face.

You can call it whatever you like. Its just another way of looking at things, try it some time, you might like it. 😉

(its actually very simple, you may just be forgetting the key of it all. I won't make it too easy, you can figure it out.)

No, because you have caught the coy, hinting virus, and I don't care to figure it out.

You may now have the last word, before we return the thread to the thread.

No, I'm just too dumb to think of a hint that won't give the game away. 😉

Don't worry, you'll figure it out sometime, there's plenty of time, the Duck will try to quack some hints now and again.
