I thought I'd post some pics that some Thelemic Indiana Jones might find useful. Any suggestions are welcome, I get insomnia sometimes and am happy to mess around making pics instead of lying awake doing nothing.

Here is a plain Line and Circle from page 60:

p61linecircle

Its from the pdf version scaled to the same dimensions as the "raw" page version.

Here is an equirectangular world map with Cairo at the Centre:

world map cairo

Will post more soon.

Thanks,

Duck

I removed the grid from the infamous "grid page". Again its the pdf version scaled to what I believe are the "correct" dimensions.

(edit: wasn't sure if that little line above the "k" in "key also" is meant to be there or not, so I left it in).

Does the "infamous grid" hold any value at all, in your opinion?

Thanks for these, as well as for your superb work on "pasting the sheets"!

Seeing this without the grid, pristine, is quite interesting.

I can't remember the reason why Crowley added the grid. The only interesting thing I can think of right now is that its on page 16 and the 8 x 10 grid gives it 80 (Peh) squares, so this gives it a "resonance" with "The Tower" (also it ends with "...can he fall from it"). I don't know if the page number is what prompted the Beast, either consciously or unconsciously to choose that grid arrangement.

I'm a bit confused

Sorry for the confusion, I meant Cairo is at the centre of the map on the X axis not the Y. I found a standard kind of map with Greenwich at the centre and just chopped one end off and stuck it on the other. I will be posting some relevant pics soon.

@hadgigegenraum

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. 🙂

Here is the same map but with Boleskine at the centre:

Yes good observation on the number of squares 80, Peh and verse resonances...Of course!!

Again I have also long thought that the line and its particular angle may be used as a reference linking Boleskine and Cairo, but do not limit the myriad of possibilities to one such potentially plausible or workable reference...

@hadgigegenraum "linking Boleskine and Cairo" this idea has a strong ring of truth, now all it needs is proof! Also I wonder what non AC connections could be made between both locations. Perhaps as a clue to conduct simultaneous rituals?

Separately, and I don't know how it is directly related but I was just reading Jerry Cornelius tying The Tower card to ejaculation.

My solution from another thread:

AL III,47: "This book shall be translated into all tongues: but always with the original in the writing of the Beast; for in the chance shape of the letters and their position to one another: in these are mysteries that no Beast shall divine. Let him not seek to try: but one cometh after him, whence I say not, who shall discover the Key of it all. Then this line drawn is a key: then this circle squared in its failure is a key also. And Abrahadabra. It shall be his child and that strangely. Let him not seek after this; for thereby alone can he fall from it."

In the original manuscript we can see this line drawn across the page at the time of writing. This line covers/creates the following letters:

s(h) t B e t i s a y f a

When we separate these two "words" based on capitalization we get "s(h)t" and "B e t i s a y f a".

S(h)t = SET = שׁט = atu XX + atu XI = 31.

B e t i s a y f a = בהטישׂאיפא
= 2+5+9+10+300+1+10+80+1 = 418 = Abrahadabra

"And Abrahadabra [is also the key]"

Without Zeros
2+5+9+1+3+1+1+8+1 = 31 = SET

Thus we have a solution to the identity of Aiwass: SET = Abrahadabra = SET.

To add, Set was originally the sole/main son of Nuit, and was the "midnight sun" who ruled the night as the Imperishable Stars while defending Ra from Apep.

"There is a splendour in my name hidden and glorious, as the sun of midnight is ever the son. The ending of the words is the Word Abrahadabra."
Set-Aiwaz, AL III:74-75

"Seek me only! Then the joys of my love will redeem ye from all pain."

"There is a splendour in my name hidden and glorious, as the sun of midnight is ever the son."

@runelogix

I am glad my observation about the line drawn resonates with you intuitive. It may well prove to have significance in the arrangement of your own inner temple, your path of inspiration informed by your contact with Liber Legis as your profile page demonstrates.

The danger of definitive proofs is in the issue of 'because' coming in and shutting everything down. Of course that is perhaps the ordeal of x, that we might so define and crucify that invigorating spirit behind the words, the poetry, the love, thus killed rather than filled....No Thelema should not be a suicide cult, but the obliteration of the ego seems to be part of the hijacked operating principles, no doubt pushed by the popularizers of Crowley into the Congress for Cultural Freedom's fascist zeitgeist of do what you want consumerist sex drug orgy of conformed personalities. Tragic that the message of  'A Diary of Drug Fiend' has been buried in a post coital haze that got bored before Part III of that book.

(It was Colin Wilson's account in "the Occult" that I think properly identified with the reference to the cure a Cefalu, of what was Jane Wolfe's retirement in the tent on the rock, of sunshine, air, the sea, and some bread and milk provided for what Wilson identified as the genius he saw in Crowley, of the method of reviving one's batteries, or discovering one's self...'to thine own self be true'....)

So ultimately per the issue of the line drawn and the context of interpretations, the above is relevant in first affirming intuition, yours, or any of ours, and that in a sense that this line comes to mind "There is a division, hither homeward;" along with there rest of that verse, as applicable to the larger challenges brought forth in text that is wrought with danger, the least of which might be a fundamentalism that then might obliterate even the creative fictions of the fictions.

Of course allegations of said facts being proven to be fraud, does not obviate the fact that matters of Law are ultimately not to be argued, though in a sense we must fight, as Arjuna in the Bhagava Gita and thus welcome the various fights over what facts may or may not be, the Law still is for all, and thus the axioms of Thelema transcend the facts, which may be what RTC is getting at with Bogus in his own way, stripping with various acids....

And there is that which remains, which would be inclusive of layers of meaning as Kenneth Grant once referenced to some of my own yet unpublished observations as regards discoveries regarding The Book of the Law....unpublished as an exegesis itself would serve to spoil the element of surprise relevant to the proper discovery by others to participate in that which would want to others to have the opportunity to the same experience...(the conditions now might be germane towards such a release in the context of the present issues of the present debates regarding II. 76 and III. 47, but I do not claim any proof on these per say... As such I welcome the debate, and further honor @therealrtc  's choice to invite us to an Easter Egg hunt, and the challenge of competing proofs! as I also commend say @ignant666's biting back as his at 18/02/2020 2:21 pm is the case in point example!)

Now as regards your reference to reading of Mr. Cornelius's work in reference to the Tower Atu, Peh and ejaculation. Well certainly a proper observation in a certain reductionistic manner of speaking, to which a 9=2 might so fall from if that is all that is being taught....but above and below the abyss are relative terms if we let that sink in.

Speaking of spunk and seeping in, I wonder why all the silence in parallel threads now in the looking glass level of manuscript examination, microscopic not yet, as concerns the stains on the manuscript of "L" itself or as photographically presented, for it could be coffee, ice cream, or or or....!

Eh Eh!

In another thread, @runelogix had the cool idea to superimpose the grip page on a world map. I had a go at seeing what they look like in 4 different "flips". I'll post them here too:

This is with the "Greenwich meridian at the centre" map. I don't know if there's anything meaningful going on here. This map has "equirectangular" projection meaning all the rectangles are the same size (square), maybe it seemed the most appropriate as the grid drawn by the Beast is equirectangular too (if a bit wonky in places). With other projections you'll get different results, for example you can have the rectangles getting taller or shorter towards the poles.

It seems that what people are most interested in about the grid page are the line and circle, so for now we can just remove the rest. I then thought after resizing the map to fit the page, why not just resize both to be square, then we can fit the page vertically on the map as well as horizontally. After messing around for a bit with the Cairo-centred map, I found this minor discovery:

cairo square

Sticking the grid page upside down like this puts the centre of the cross in the circle just on the coast of Egypt, and its mirror image is also in Egypt. I find this slightly significant, the circle could have fallen too high or too low but it just happens to fall within the borders of Egypt.

egypt circle

In this close up we can see that the two circles make a little "X" where they intersect, just below Cairo. I don't find this significant as you get this kind of effect at the axis when you mirror things. If they intersected exactly at Cairo I might consider it significant, but sadly this isn't the case. Also the "line drawn" doesn't mean much here, so I can only call this a "minor discovery".

After looking at this curious pattern, you could call it a "sigil" for "CAIRO", I can see the letters in there, maybe "ABRAHADABRA" too, if you look harder. 🙂

sigil

Thanks,

Duck

I re-did that Egypt map using "non-squashed" images, I think the results are nicer:

egypt

I superimposed a little map over it to see where it points to:

egypt closeup

It looks like the centre of the cross in the circle (the red one is the non-flipped one) is roughly half way between the cities of Sohag and Qena, better get your shovels ready. 😛

how about adding latitude

Good point, though this is a little trickier to do. Chopping one end of the map and sticking it on the other doesn't really work in the vertical direction. Any ideas how to go about this? I didn't pay enough attention when they were teaching geometry in school. 😊

as concerns the stains on the manuscript

This doesn't really fall under the category of "useful image files" but I'll post it anyway as its relevant to what you say:

p45 stain

I made this pic a while ago, with a bit of imagination you can see a figure in there, and I think the "head" of the figure looks a bit like Anubis. 🙂

p45closeup

There is something creepy about this "entity", after staying up too late looking at images one time I had a weird dream that featured this character. It was as if he was able to move through the "dream landscape" in a bizarre way, like he could move through an unseen dimension, disappearing in one place and popping up in another. I call him the "Stainlord". 🙂

p45 stainlord

Here he is again with a plain background. You may not want to look at him for too long unless he shows up in your dreams. 😉

@duck Remarkable. I always considered the stains to be meaningless but now I'm not so sure. It is hard for me to find a directly meaningful meaning of the world map but that doesn't mean it isn't there and I hope more people approach this.  I think the sigil and entity are profound discoveries.

I guess if you try enough permutations of geography and numerology, you might stumble on a useful piece of information... My sense is that all of this leads one away from specificity into conjecture.

On verse I:46 we read the sentence - Sixty-one the Jews call it; I call it eight, eighty, four hundred & eighteen. So finally we are given a clear equation of sorts

61 x = 880,418 y

Where x is something 'Jewish' and y is something contemporary Anglo-Saxon. The numbers in an of themselves are not important, but rather their relationship to one another. Finding out what x and y are is the key to unravelling the rest. Once you determine what y is, you can then apply the answer to II:76.

An interesting observation. Let us assume for a moment that x is a talmudic measurement of a parasa

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_and_Talmudic_units_of_measurement

Ten parasa measures the distance a man (or woman) can walk in a day. A parasa is a number between 2.41–2.85 mi. Let's assume a parasa of 2.73 mi.

Now lets assume that x is a contemporary measure of a foot. There are 5280 feet in a mile. Here is where it gets interesting. If you take 880,418 feet and divide it by 5280, you get 166.75 miles. Now divide 166.75 miles by 2.73 and you get 61 parasa - what the jews call it.

So maybe y is a measure in feet? So we have a distance of 880,418 feet.

Next installment tomorrow.

Much appreciation for your to showing up once again after so long....it is nice to know that you have probably been finely amused to see what has become of the baby, so to speak, after a few years.....

That you choose this backwater thread to so return is quite a nice gesture or sorts as I frankly think that the "The HGA of a Duck" @duck has done a wizard's job at pasting the sheets for interesting beholding!

While you might find it to be off the mark, in terms of addressing the solution to certain riddles, I second his response that it, that it has been fun in trying and by the way the word (try) is bisected in a way by the line on Page 16 of the Third Chapter of Liber Legis.

Thus your posting I. 46 as an equation, where ultimately (it) has both a "Jewish" (X) and 'contemporary Anglo-Saxon' (Y) and a relationship to III. 46 is one that I do find in my old notes...

Now one can certainly fall from it, as the later verse seems to ultimately warn, thus in your second post on your later thread, I commend the work in identifying the X and Y in terms of measurements, but perhaps had wished you kept silent for a few days, to watch what might come up, what, the fish squirming on the thread, rather than your cutting to the chase with your פרסה for 345 equals by one gematria "his proof" and 345 is also a right triangle...

I suppose perhaps you want to preempt @rtc or get him to walk into the Hpi, or us, or save us, with how many days left..  but I think I am already treading water...

Good suggestion, and I think we may have something here. I superimposed all the views again, and as you can see, the bottom of the "line drawn" touches the Arctic circle (as does the "circle squared", just about). The lines also line up nicely with the meridians. This map seems to be a bit wonky, I'll see if I can find a better one.

@duck Wow that lines up exactly with the meridians! The 4 sigils may match up in the cardinal directions as in Liber Resh (hard to say if standing right side up or upside down in Tree of Life). My only other passing thought is how or if this lines up with any Enochian magick sources.

Faustian,

Indeed, welcome back.

May I ask a question regarding your "x" and "y" above?

Why do we clump "eight" and "eighty" together as "880" when there is a comma clearly dividing the two numbers? Wouldn't "880" be better described as "eight hundred and eighty?" Otherwise, "418" would have been likewise described in the verse as "four, eighteen" (and were this the case, I'd have a hard time justifying an interpretation of "418" as opposed to, simply, four and eighteen).

So we seem to have 61, 8, 80 and 418.

What are your thoughts on this?

The line extends from the 15th parallel to the Arctic circle rather nicely.

@duck There are two clues about this:

7. I am the Magician and the Exorcist. I am the axle of the wheel, and the cube in the circle. "Come unto me" is a foolish word: for it is I that go.

Then this line drawn is a key: then this circle squared in its failure is a key also.

I don't pretend to know the purported meaning of this but perhaps for the first time we have direct visual clues about what is being indicated. The first verse however is said by Hadit and the Prince of Disks globe could be a depiction of him which could also be a reference to the Cube of Space arrangement of the Tarot.

An error crept in when I was doing some of those pics, somehow the polar region got chopped off. I'll post the corrected ones here:

The Cairo-centred map:

Boleskine:

Pasadena:

Thebes:

Cairo:

Boleskine:

Pasadena:

The results are still not that amazing but there are a couple of developments now. That little "X" where the 2 circles intersect that I was talking about is now right over Pasadena (Agape Lodge):

Cairo is now within the "circle squared" and in a little triangle made by the 2 crosses:

In the Boleskine map these 2 lines almost touch Cairo and Thebes (yes I know, this one isn't very good 🙂 ):

Sorry for the confusion, bye for now.

@kidneyhawk good observation. My thoughts are as follows. The sentence is broken into two clauses separated by a semi-colon. The agent within the first clause is the Jews, while the subject of the second clause is the prater-human or Djinn narrating to us the readers. The two clauses grouped together are trying to express and equivalency of sorts - where 61 refers to the same thing as 8, 80, and 418. This could be a mathematical series of sorts - hard to tell - or it could be a single large number. My sense is that the equivalency is the important piece of information here first, and the numbers that are equivalent are of secondary importance. The equivalence defines a relationship of measure, which references a distance.

Both the measure and the distance can be used elsewhere.

@duck you may want to move the overlay slightly to the left of Cairo - to the Libyan/Egypt border and see what you get.

I believe that Google Earth allows for projections upon actual globe representation.

@duck @faustian

You will see what I am talking about if you look at this article...specifically the view of northern Africa, Egypt off to Asia....where a line has been projected....this type of thing could be done between Boleskine and Cairo, Cairo and Thebes, and within Cairo...etc...

I had a go but didn't get very far, I guess it all depends on the scale. We could of course move it so the cross is over Cairo, but I can't really see the point at this time:

cross

@runelogix @hadgigegenraum

Thanks for these suggestions. I will have to read up on them.

Maybe a Thelemite from the computer graphics/video games industry will stumble on this thread and help us out. 🙂

I can't really see the point at this time:

Let the Aspirant apply himself to comprehend Hadit as an unextended point clothed with Light ineffable. And let him beware lest he be dazzled by that Light.

The "Grid Page", this time without the words:

p60 grid line

And here's just the plain grid:

p60 grid

@christibrany

Well put. 🙂

Wasn't the grid added later? Like not during the original dictation?

"Seek me only! Then the joys of my love will redeem ye from all pain."

"There is a splendour in my name hidden and glorious, as the sun of midnight is ever the son."

I just read about this. In Genesis of the Book of the Law It did not appear in the Equinox volume 1 7 making it appear after 1912. The author believes it was done in AC's hand.
